Men rights and issues

After reading this threading say
Mandatory pre-nup for all marriage

If both parents work and divorce child support should be taking from both as a percentage and split according to custody arrangements. It should be really adjusted annually based on yearly income.

Alimony is for the spouse not the children and should not be affected either way by them. It should be a case by case basis and have a hard termination point. Using as a tool to force people to stay married is stupid. A toxic marriage is way worse for the children in the long run.

Can we get a male birth control pill please

These may or may not be the case in some states already.

I identify as a feminist, but I don't think quite everything MRAs talk about are frivolous. Most of the OP was pretty reasonable, and I wish there were more out there like him. I don't know much about family law stuff, but I think that's at least a plausible place that discrimination would occur.

I know more about the academic complaints, and they're far from minor. The academic gap is growing larger every year, with something like over 60% of new undergraduates being women, and they make better grades. If this keeps up we could see a decrease in the pay gap, which would be great, but at the same time, you have to wonder why the education system seems to be serving men so poorly.

Is it okay, if in a discussion on GAF I tell a specific individual what a *insert any pejorative, sexist, racist, or otherwise malicious comment* they are, but put it in brackets and say "I almost wrote that"?

I'm just wondering if this is okay.

Maybe not. Maybe i will get a ban for that. I don't intend to continue the discussion that way but i really found it a bit sickening that you felt like belittling the death of so many people for your arguments sake.

Well idiocy is right there with delusion.
While one is a classification for mental retardation, the other is a pathology.
It is all medical.

Both say: You are not ok in the head.

You know what? I think I agree. While on a personal level I think it's unfair to force a father to pay up in every circumstance, it's probably better for society as a whole to do so. But hey, this is why we have discussions like this.

On the other hand, once poor single-mothers are no longer an issue in society, I think something like this should be implemented for egalitarian reasons.

You two working in tandem now ban baiting?

So feminism has been irrevocably hijacked by crazies, but men still have time to fix everything by their own movement. Well, I'm glad that's sorted now.

Yes, because there has been no large, public movement yet.

Some people thought all early feminist were crazy bra burners who needed to be slapped/sedated/ignored, but that perception didn't get to define the movement, and neither did the feminists who were crazy, violent extremists.

Once feminism picked up steam and became a cohesive effort, those crazies and those dismissive perceptions were essentially sidelined to bicker amongst themselves.

A men's movement could hopefully do the same thing, especially since one hasn't really been widely established yet.

Well said. You probably should've been the one to create the thread and lead the discussion.

Sadly I know the fate of these threads on GAF to let myself get invested. I remember when Shanadeus PMd me asking me to post a similar thread for him. I told him to post it himself and that it would probably be fine. Of course it wasn't. He earned himself a reputation, and he let GAF get to him, and the cycle fed itself. He's permabanned now, I believe.

Lesson: Never let GAF get to you.

The post you quoted was the first time I've responded to you.

I kind of misread your post, never mind it anyways, I understand what you're trying to say.

Can you list the privileges for the everyday male?
Cause I'd like to take advantage of these. :P

Same here. As a man trying to advance in a female-controlled profession, I'd love to know how I can turn on my masculine wiles to win equal wages and respect from my female colleagues.

Seriously. In regards to these "privelage" debates, using blanket statements like "you're taking advantage of it whether you know it or not" is counter-productive. My race or gender has never done me any favors - those who feel they know otherwise are welcome to walk a mile in my shoes and realize how unglamorous it really is.

Or people who feel they don't have any advantages should walk in ours.

The point is obvious. Governments should stop trying to redress naturally occuring imbalances in career choices throught quotas for female employees. The science shows it is biological

The quotas are there to encourage female employees due to employees being, historically, unable to work the same jobs as men yet fitting the job qualifications. Even with quotas, it's still easier to get a job as a man than a woman, statistically. I've worked in business hiring people, I know how the game works.

Come on, I know you're not dropping the biological shit. I mean, back in cave man days rape wasn't rape, it was just making babies. Is that okay because it's just biological? The biological argument for defending not allowing somebody to have a position is just weak.

We're different people. You're making my point for me.

Not really. Have you actually been propositioned when you go out? Sexually harassed on the regular? Made to feel scared. Called a bitch or cunt for your opinions? Harassed online for being a vocal feminist? Been sent hate mail? Stalked?

Considering the insults you both use to describe other people in recent threads, I'm not sure how idiot is particularly bannable but ok.

Did you ever watch that documentary I linked you when you denied that you have benefitted from white privilege? It's just 20 minutes long.

I've been pretty level-headed and backing up myself with respectable sources, and I still thought the mods would ban me for disagreeing, being uppity or some other bullshit when this discussion started elsewhere.

To what exactly?

By poor minority you mean poor (or not-rich) majority right? As in economic demographics.

Because by race demographics, you'd need some crazy receipts to show.

Even if we were only to take the US in account, african american battalions were minimal (due segregation). And even by conscription alone, they would still not be proportionatelly higher, or higher at all.

Because of your "You mean the conscripts that were disproportionately poor minority men?" to answer "Tell that for instance to the millions of conscripts who died on the battlefield during the last 100 years alone.".

Considering the insults you both use to describe other people in recent threads, I'm not sure how idiot is particularly bannable but ok.

You both? What are you talking about? You mean me and WorriedCitizen? I don't know anything about their post history.

Please point out all the insults I lobbed at specific individuals in recent threads that I didn't get banned for.

Also note that I never stated that idiot is bannable. I asked a question.

oh, yes. Privilege can certainly exist in certain forms. Even in an ethnically homogeneous society for example with a draft the tendency is going to be that the military is STILL filled with poorer people. So the point was that at some level privilege is a benefit to many people in many to the detriment of many others.

Not really. Have you actually been propositioned when you go out? Sexually harassed on the regular? Made to feel scared. Called a bitch or cunt for your opinions? Harassed online for being a vocal feminist? Been sent hate mail? Stalked?

Yes to the bolded. Generally speaking, I, like you, have been made to feel lesser for being who I am. It stopped bothering me long ago. I can understand how it could bother some, but I won't claim privelage for not having to experience something that wouldn't have bothered me anyway. I'm sorry if that offends you. I'm not being dismissive or flippant. I'm just relating the facts of my life.

I did, and it was interesting. That said, it didn't really apply to me. I'm fully aware of white privelage and how it can manifest. If it does in the future, my beliefs are always subject to change.

Hmmm maybe I want a job in HR

Biology continues to have an influence, but in different ways. My personal stance is that attempting to homogenise the genders artificially demeans us all

Sooo... you're not going to share with me if you HAVE ever watched the documentary? I mean, the others in the thread where I posted it for you seemed to like it! 3-4 people responded to say so! Yet you keep insisting that there is NO way you could have benefited.

edit: you did respond! Thanks

Is it possible there was a facet of your life that you benefited without realizing it? Perhaps for example you bought a car? It is VERY likely that whatever dealership you did so from charged you less at less interest than a black person for example.

Glad to see a this little discussion conclude nicely.
If only this was the case for the rest of the thread, and OT in general.

Unlike a lot of other people, discussions/arguments on GAF have actually changed my views in numerous instances. I try to be open minded about things.

I'm sure his science also shows that biologically women naturally gravitate to working in a kitchen like environment and taking care of her husband and children. Cult of domesticity is biological. FACT.

I have a Masters in Sandwich Making. Just ask Timedog how pro I am at that.
