This is something that has always bugged me about the FGC. Why do people complain about having to wake up at 10 AM to play their games? I'm not talking about popularity placement here, I'm talking about just learning to wake up early. Is it that hard?

One big factor is that at majors people often play money matches and casuals late into night. I know I've had issues where I had to play on Sunday but the people I traveled with were all eliminated so I couldn't really sleep early while they played all night.

This also happens in college and pro football when west coast teams travel to the east coast to play early games. There's a pretty established pattern where the west coast team performs worse than usual. It's having to perform at a time when you're not used to.

It ain't even about drinking, dude! It's about proper planning. If I managed to make it to the finals for a game and I found out it was early in the morning, I would make sure to plan my sleep schedule around that. Nothing wrong with saying "hey I can't play/party/bullshit for too much longer, gotta get to sleep for my pools tomorrow."

I agree though, 8 AM pools are stupid as all get out.
