Fighting Games Weekly | August 13-19

I honestly feel this doesn't even need to be justified.

Yes there is prejudice, yes there was potential. But they fucked up. They took to long to fix the game (still not fixed yet), took too long to release finished, leaked, on-disc content. The fan base moved on, you can't expect people to stay hopeful for a game for half a year in the state it was in, an unfun state. And you expect people to get back into the game half a year later when they've been frustrated to death and burned by their purchases?

Not happening. People who stuck with SFxTK shouldn't expect this either, you would need a miracle and a half to rebirth this game. This shouldn't surprise anyone, not even Capcom. I legitimately wanted SFxTK to succeed because it set a precedent for levels of content in a Capcom game where their competitors have been gaining ground, but then it failed on multiple levels and became a poster child for Capcom's fuck ups this gen, all in one game. Capcom knows, Sven openly answers "y duz SFxTK suck" questions. I just hope they don't scale back their future endeavors because of this.
This. The game's been broken for far, far too long. Capcom badly needs to reassess how they approach post-release support for these games.

Mr.Wizard is trolling everyone so well. :P

They especially need to reassess how they ship a product.
I really wonder what would happen if Capcom introduced a total re-work of SFxT. I'm talking EVERY issue addressed. Would the FGC give it another chance?
Spend that money on the localization and digital release of the Japanese PS2 Darkstalkers collection(OE), a faithful Rival schools collection(OE) or a Powerstone collection(OE). Maybe they could make a UMvC3 ten character DLC expansion for $15. They could spend the money on other things.

id buy a poster of that , looks awesome.

also SfXTK is just not fun to watch and the Gems made it unbalanced.

Gems don't do anything, there are matches of players who don't use Gems and they do fine against players that do use Gems.

Oh and is anyone making the MvC Origins OT?

I've been enjoying the SFxT play on the Capcom 25th Anniversary stuff. Would be a shame to see some of the positive vibe its built up go to waste. More importantly I enjoy playing it so I'm going to stick with it, regardless of what tournaments its at.

Would love to see some Japan players screw around with Mortal Kombat's systems.

Forgot how much of a wasteland those Shoryuken forums are....good god.

That is not drama, it is truth.

Pretty much. Hell, Filipino Champ is all "LOL PERSONA 4 SUX BECAUSE I CAN'T MAKE MONEYZZZZZZzzzz (And I priated it lolz)." :|

Basically, as soon as the Gem system was up-in-armed and the DLC characters were up-in-armed, Capcom should've said "the fuck are we doing?" and delayed the game. They have no one but themselves to blame for Street vs Juggle's failure.

Mr. Wizard's basically saying "Don't waste your time on this game." and doing everyone in the community a favor.

Sucks for Capcom, but they brought it on themselves.

If the SFxT community is as passionate about the game as they claim, they should keep playing it and supporting it. Sadly it will likely just be "word of EVO is word of god" and it will get completely abandoned.

People who play competitively want to play their game on the grandest stage, though. You can't blame people for dropping the game once they find out that EVO isn't an option.

How so?

The community that actually play the game is a lot more dedicated to it than the people playing SFxT right now. You know, just because of that car. :/

I know, I'm saying we'll see if SFxT supporters will put their money where their mouths are and continue playing enough to create their own dedicated scene apart from the FGC, with enough numbers to get into events in spite of overbearing forum and stream hate.

Not to mention that the company incentivizing play of their game with big prizes happened and continues to happen in both games.

I don't know, I was told rather intently that people play what is fun and what people play has nothing to do with what is popular or in EVO mixed in with many expletives.

But back to reality, harsh to put such definitive word out on it because it will affect people playing.
It still might always show up if Capcom threw some money at it.

Good point. There's no reason that another of the majors can't become a bigger stage for SFxT though. I can certainly understand the competitive aspect too. If you enjoy something like a competitive fighting game to the level that you want to invest serious time in it, there has to be a level of reciprocity from your opponent.

If its not an Evo title, majors wont really have it either. I know Seasons Beatings didnt have it until recently if im not mistaken wnf doesnt have it anymore right now. I think its done after the West Coast SF25 cualifier.

Capcom is going to drop it from their own tournament? I could certainly buy the argument that the grand finals in December for SF25 will be the last time we see SFxT at a huge tournament, but there's no way Capcom will shit can it now.

I didnt say Capcom would drop it. I said it would be done by the last cualifier.

What i meant is once there arent any spots left for the tournament people wont really care about participating in weeklies or majors involving it. Why invest time in it if you cant compete for the car anymore?

Although Mr.Wizard and the Cannons run EVO, it's really up to the SFxT community to make their presence known at future tournaments. If we can consistently see the type of play that was seen at NYC's SF25 tournament, the game stands a chance.

It should be a given but TOs shouldn't be listening to the hate generated by players who don't play the game or even what an EVO founder may say about. If there's enough support and entrants for the game, then run it.

Got it, misunderstanding on my part.

Really? Like, a month after Evo 2012? lol. Fuck it, if no one else wants to say it, SFxT at this past weekend's NYC 25th Anniversary qualifier wasn't bad at all and the crowd was fairly hype when Tatsu was on...Tatsu, who can actually play the game properly.

I guess it's whatever in the grand scheme of things, but even if chances are you were going to not include it for 2013, it could've been said around the time games were actually being announced.

Eh I'd still play SFxT, I like it's combo system but would really prefer if the damage scaling wasn't so strict ugh.
...and could someone link to the 25th Ann. SFxT matches plz?
