I don't expect the servers to say "You're welcome" though. I expect them to tell me the plate is hot or ask if I need anything.

I prefer the less serious "no problem" or, to friends "It's cool, bro". Also I only really use you're welcome sarcastically. Like when I do something and someone doesn't say thanks. Of course I don't actually care but I just enjoy saying it.

"No problem" is usually what I'd say. I do also say "You're welcome", so either way works for me. Or a head nod.

As long as the person says something to acknowledge the "thank you," it's fine. "You're welcome" can sound too formal sometimes. It doesn't bother me at all if someone prefers a different response.
