Did anyone who ordered from newegg get theirs today?

Mine's estimated for the 21st but it's been in my city since yesterday. What gives me hope is that my hori screen protector was scheduled for the 21st as well but that's out for delivery for today :|

Mine is estimated for the 22nd but it hsan't updated in 60 hours since it left California. :(

So if I bought it at Gamestop today to replace my OG 3DS, but I decide that the bigger screens aren't my thing, will I be able to return it for a full refund?

Hey, has anyone tried Resident Evil Revelations on the XL? I'm assuming that I'll want to wait for some kind of XL Circle Pad Pro.

Is that game as unplayable as Icarus was without it? I really don't want a game that I have to use on a table with a stand.
I've always played without the Circle Pad Pro myself and found it completely playable.

Is a right stick really necessary? RE4 certainly didn't need one and Revelations plays very similarly. It works just fine as a single stick game. There is no reason to look around while running through the environment and aiming with the left stick works fine.

So there is no need to worry about the bulky CPP.

I bought my sisters their own XLs for their birthdays.

I'm really impressed with the screen. It seems warmer than my LoZ 3DS but just barely. It's comfortable to use too.

I haven't noticed a problem with the speakers. I've only seen and heard Mario Kart 7 and 999 on it though.

I'm guessing the worsening of the 3D sweet spot is due to the larger screen. Is it like holding the original 3DS too close to your face? I could see that being the case, since you have a larger screen, but you might still try holding it the same distance from your face while gaming, thereby causing the banding to appear. Makes sense if the screens are similar in quality to the original.

The sweet spot seems to be smaller and less forgiving on the XL.

I noticed that issue as well. Last night I spent quite a bit of time trying to get the 3D to work well for me by frequently using the 3D slider. I guess I will need to get used to what settings work best. Gonna take some experimentation by going through my 3DS library seeing what looks best.

Guess I have nicer eyes ;P

... or crapier ones

Bingo! If there's one thing this 3D Tech does is it tends to "diagnose" people's eyesight. Both eyes have to be equally capable of viewing the separate images otherwise it will give you trouble. It's not forgiving at all. If your eyesight is bad it just amplifies it as one eye can't compensate the other.

Instead of moving forward or back, move the unit slightly to the left or right of center to see if you can get a better image. At least that's how it works for me as my left eye is "weaker" than the right.

The speakers on mine seem normal after playing Star Fox and Theatrhythm. It is a bit quiet, but it's not too bad as I play with headphones mostly anyway.

I would like to update my General expressions.

If you read my previous response, I got the Red 3DS XL free after trading in 5 games at FutureShop + a 20$ coupon for any game purchase in September.

I have had a PS Vita since day 1 and I think that Nintendo Hardware is not even in the same league. Comparing it to Vita is just wrong. This feel like a poor man's handheld.

I have only played handful of demos off the store and I am interested in getting Zelda OoT and Mario 3D. This compared to the original 3DS looks a lot of better/decent cosmetically.

I don't care about people bitching about Pixel Density and blah blah, they need to see the PS Vita OLED Screen and SHUT UP.

Although free, I appreciate the handheld however I appreciate SONY more for offering something at 250 compared to 200 for Nintendo 3DS XL. Nintendo was asking 250 US for this technology? are they out of their fucking mind?

BOTTOM LINE: I would have NEVER spent a dime to buy this handheld considering that I have a Vita.

Sorry I am comparing generally and I do not want to offend anyone here or make up nonsense about gaming library. My intent is to compare something Nintendo is asking 200 and what SONY is offering at 250.

Picked up my Blue XL yesterday and immediately fell in love with the color and those ginormous screens. Found out about the free game deal at Gamestop including the XL, so I went back to GS to claim my prize. They only had one copy of Steel Diver, but the girl behind the counter had another store hold Pilotwings for me.

Went to the other store with my receipt, XL box, and OG 3DS and walked out with a copy of PW and $100 in my pocket..

I think both systems have a lot of fun gaming experiences to offer. Vita does offer better visuals but I think both portables have so much potential.

You're supposed to buy hardware to play the games that are on it, considering that the hardware isn't useful unless it's playing games. You can love the Vita all you want, but it doesn't play 3DS games. So now that you have a 3DS and a Vita, you can play games that interest you regardless of which platform they're on. It's pretty great!

After doing my transfer last night, I went to GameStop this morning with my old 3DS and the 3DSXL receipt and got my $100 cash back. The girl behind the counter has been very good about helping me with this ever since I pre-ordered the system Thursday. This made the cashier a little short on the register, but she was okay with it. I'm gonna do the survey on the receipt and give her a big compliment.

I gotta agree with others in that the 3D effect isn't as good as it was on the older system.

Has anyone had a pre-order from Lockerz ship? I'm a little concerned as neither one of my orders have shown indication of processing. In fact, the Paypal status of my combined NSMB and 3DS XL order has changed to completed, but I have only been charged for NSMB. It has shipped out on its own...

In the same boat, anxiously waiting for my XL to ship. Just wondering, what type of shipping did they use and where did they ship it from?

I agree that the hardware is overpriced for what you get. That goes for all Nintendo products generally though.

The Vita is a much better value for the console itself, but there's not much to play on it (espcially as someone who has a PS3).

Before your edit it was even worse. You say not to compare and continue to do exactly that. I buy my consoles to play games, the OLED is nice but unfortunately the Vita doesn't have the software to back it up. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions though, so I say just play what makes you happy. I'm satisfied with my $200 purchase and will get a Vita if any games come out that can justify it!

Why are you so concerned with upselling the PS Vita?

Maybe...but only if Sony really starts to deliver with the Vita library. I like both systems, but i've got a grand total of 2 games for my Vita. I know the 3DS has been out longer than the Vita, but this really does seem like a DS vs PSP situation all over again, only the 3DS isnt as underpowered.

Anyway, the sweet spot is much better for me, after getting used to the screen size. Even outside, I can see 3D just fine from a relaxed angle, instead of sitting pretty close to the screen.

Lol @ people replying to that guy seriously.

At any rate, cost of entry for the vita isn't 250, closer to 270+ since sony's proprietary memory card is required for playing games and it doesn't come with one. Sure the hardware is better by a mile, but like the other person said, I only own 2 games on vita and I've had it since it's February launch.

Hmmm, the Vita has had a significant dry spell, but I actually think the library is pretty strong right now. I own nearly as many Vita titles as I do 3DS titles, actually.

I definitely prefer using the Vita hardware itself so naturally I'd prefer games there, but the 3DS hardware isn't too bad.

Reads like a Phil Harrison quote-fest.

"Comparisons to the Nintendo handheld are unfair. Unfair to them, mind you."

"Bringing players out of the handheld ghetto." (i.e. poor man's handheld)

Just need a Pokemon reference for the trifecta. :lol

Er, I don't think this is true at all. I have absolutely terrible eyesight (I'm severely near-sighted) but I've always been able to see the 3DS' 3D just fine. I play all my 3DS games with the slider at max (except those that don't benefit from it, like Theatrhythm) and I very much prefer it that way.

So yeah, the quality of your eyesight has nothing to do with the mileage you get out of stereoscopic 3D.

Your personal example doesn't refute his statement. The eye problem he is talking about may or may not have anything to do with yours.

It's more about your eye alignment. Someone who is cross-eyed, or close to it would find the 3D almost, if not, impossible to discern.

This isn't a near-sightedness/far-sightedness issue but instead it's an eyes melding two different images into a 3D image in your brain issue. Everyone inteprets 3D slightly differently since the image is formed in your brain. For some people the process just doesn't happen even if their eyesight is 100% fine.

The best example to think of is those 3D image puzzle books. Some people see the images right away while some people on the other side of the spectrum never see them.

Agreed. And when I look at the release lists, I see only one upcoming 3DS game I want this year (Code Of Princess) whereas there are multiple Vita titles I will be getting.

Picked up a red XL today and traded in my original 3DS. I always thought these XL versions were for "old people" but the screenshots and impressions in this thread convinced me to get one. I haven't played with it much yet due to work, but damn this thing is impressive. I love the bigger screen and it's much nicer for my big hands. Can't wait to get it home and give it a spin.

There seems to be a white speck that I thought I could wipe, but now it appears to be under the screen. When the screen is on, it looks like a dead pixel. The GS reps basically told me to take it to Nintendo as they were "sold out of systems, we can't replace or show you one to compare."

Does anyone else have this? I'm having a buyer's remorse of epic proportions lol.

I'm still impressed by how MK7 looks everytime I play it. Even though I have an Ipad, it just makes me grin that a Mario Kart look as good and better in some areas than the Wii version on a portable device.

It's probably under the plastic "cover", but on top of the screen. If you wanted to open the thing, you could get rid of it easily

Personally, I laugh at people who paid for a Vita since I don't see the point of owning one yet.

But starting November 20th, I will suddenly feel extremely jealous of all Vita owners:
