After the recent batch of screens released for GTA V excitement and anticipation seems to be high for the franchise. Now there is no better time to dive back into the world where it will be taking place again.

Rules
It is simple, pop in GTA SA on whatever system you want. Play and discuss! Share things you like, things you don't like, things that you hope are maybe brought back in Grand Theft Auto V.

They stole my ps2 version some time ago and i can't find my PC version anymore. :(
should've bought it back in one of the steam sales.

I'm up for this. Got it on XBL and played about 50% of the game months ago and never finished it because something took my attention. I think I'd just got a plane when I finally stopped playing. I'll boot it up and see if I should continue or restart.

Same I should have bought it on PC, or they should put it on PS2 classics on PSN since controller support for this on PC is iffy. I'd love to play it again though, even though a lot of mechanics are pretty clunky for today's time the mission design is still unbelievable.

It is available to download on xbox live also. Also, I don't know if you live around any buy and trade stores where you can find it for dirt cheap.

Bonus points if you have a Twitch (or some other site) account and stream it!

San Andreas is $14.99 on Steam right now. Doesn't look like it's on any kind of sale at the moment.

I have my PS2 versions which have disappeared off the face of the earth. :(

I rebought it a few years ago on Xbox Originals, though, and in San Fierro since. Must start playing it again just for this, though! Love San Andreas and I'm sure it'll push my hype for GTA V through the roof. :)

I also have it on PC too from buying the series on Steam when its price went down one time

'All you had to do was follow the damn train, CJ'

Fuck you, game.

Had the PS2 version, but I think I gave it away to my little sister.

Should I play GTA:SA on Xbox or PC, GAF? Also, does the PC version suppotr 360 gamepad support? I remember stopping at some drag race event on the Xbox version >__>

Wasn't an HD collection in the works?

Yes!

I fired it up on PC a couple months ago. Getting the controller working correctly was a hassle and v3.00 NTSC patch doesn't support 1080p and stretches the picture slightly. I will probably be playing it on xbox 360. Though I might just say fuck it and try it with mouse and keyboard. I remember the planes being really hard to handle with mouse and keyboard though.

I started this for the very first time just a month or two ago, whenever the Steam sale was. I never took the chance to play it before, so it'll be interesting to do this.

I'll keep you updated, I'll probably jump back into it tomorrow, not sure where I am on it, a few missions in I think, not far.

I'm about half way through San Fierro now and I'll keep playing from where I left off. I'll probably even start a new game after beating this one.

The biggest thing people forgot about San Andreas is that each island has it's own design and visual philosophy. Los Santos has pretty simple missions where you learn the ways of being from Grove Street. The country side and San Fierro have much more independent and varied missions, you also have to buy businesses and properties like in Vice City, you even do side missions for the property you buy.

And then Las Venturas is where missions become wacky and filled with a lot of variety. Less property buying, more outrageous and huge missions.

Yeah PC controller support for the game sucks, I can't stand kb&m for this game. The only workable solution I found is to use motion joy and the ps3 controller to act like an older pc gamepad.

I was playing this on my Xbox 360 about a year ago. I got farther than I did with my PS2 copy; I stopped again because I kept dying on a mission but can't remember which one. I think it was the one right before you enter Las Venturas. I need to try again...

Great game and my most favorite GTA

Flying with keyboard controls aren't that great. They're especially bad when you're trying to
get all gold in flying school
.

Easily my favourite GTA game. Just driving around rural areas listening to K-Rose or causing mayhem in Los Santos to name but a few. The memories.

If I didn't have Sleeping Dogs and Darksiders 2 to play still, I'd be all over this.
I never quite finished it when it was new.
Is there any good way to play on PC with a controller, Pinnacle looks like the easiest way but I'd just be using a trial.

To anyone whose never completed the game 100% I'd recommend going for that. The reward for it is pretty awesome.

Yeah, I just beat Sleeping Dogs the other day, if I didn't I would be in the same boat.

Anyone remember these shit missions?

Almost a deterrent to replaying the game.

Fuck....I forgot about those....THREAD CANCELLED!! lol just kidding.

Love this game.

I used to enter the "no cops" code, pick up a police car and drive around and pretend that i was a cop and whenever an AI driver went all crazy i chased them, rammed them and since there was no "arrest mode" i shot them.

Flying in this game with keyboard was a nightmare. Especially the one where you have to stay below radar level and the one late in the game where you have to do a u-turn. Lots of frustrating missions but a whole lot more fun.

If someone can find a decent mod for 360 pad support that works with the Steam version, I'll play.

I found this the other day, but when I went to launch the game with it on it would crash. Maybe someone else will have some luck.

Holy shit that is hilarious.

I never completed this mission on the PS2, I playing the PC version but I not in San Fierro yet, is easier on the PC?
Yes. That mission is confirmed to be the hardest in the PS2 version due to fuel constantly decreasing no matter if the plane is in motion or not.

why the crap do the GTA games not work well with Xbox USB controllers? The analog triggers mess up your ability to use them as buttons so it's crazy trying to play this on the PC.

I started up my PS2 version a while ago. Love playing with cheats.

The beginning Los Santos section is such a drag though....

The RC plane missions....the actual jet plane missions in the desert....hell, any plane missions in this game SUCKED.

Still have my PS2 save with Hot Coffee activated on it. San Andreas is that crack. I really think a lot of my love for this game is honestly a black protagonist. The world that CJ gets to interact with is just too good. It just honestly makes me wonder why R* didn't do San Andreas Stories with Sweet or Brian or CJ's adventures in Liberty.

And if anybody's looking to get into the game or need a story refresher before you start to look up The Introduction on YouTube. It does one hell of a job of setting up the world of San Andreas before you play. Some spoilers abound but still a good watch.

I wonder if I will be able to complete the missions without cheating. I'm at the mission where you have to put some crates in a van and your friend tries to defend himself. He dies too quickly. But I don't want to resort to cheats, so I try and try again.

Zero's RC missions really sucked. You had to be fucking perfect with the plane one since there's such a short time limit.

Anyone ever have issues with the older fat ps2 models? Any mission that would involve flying aircrafts would always never load the map so invisible trees were always what got me

I beat it without cheats for Xbox. It's quite satisfying. I started to use them once I completed the story missions.
