Wonder how much Hazard will go for when Real/Barca come in for him.

Can Ronaldo's fee be topped?
Don't think he'll be as good as Ronaldo. It's only been 3 games, he could always fade out like Silva did last season after a brilliant start.

Only Messi moving (while he's still young) will probably top Ronaldo's fee

Just posting this here cos it's freakin awesome

BTW Wessiej/Confuziz I hear Douglas has rejected Fulham.

Haven't heard that,..but I know he has a dozen of agents so a deal is not made in 1 day.

We will know everything tonight.

Also, why is Heitinga in the player of the week in this newspaper, while playing only 3 minutes?

It's about quality of play, not the amount of time one spends on the pitch.

Or more likely whoever compiled the list didn't bother watching the games and just selected players from teams that did well.

Magath is a crazy genius.

He bought Petr Jiracek for 3.5m 7 months ago and now sold him to Hamburg for 4m (5m if they have success, yeah, HSV and success, right lol) after that guy played one good match for Wolfsburg.

Willian and Isco are really good players, but again they aren't adequate replacement for Modric. Spurs need a conductor of sorts, not another tricky wide player who can drift into the middle.

I am curious how harsh/strict the UEFA will be about the PAOK - Rapid incident. Hopefully the UEFA doesn't cave and really sends out a message that violence will not be tolerated.

Juventus will walk the league this season regardless of whether they sign a striker or two, I can't really see who's going to offer credible resistance. Every possible challenger has let one or more of their best players leave the club without properly replacing them.

Inter and Napoli are well-organized sides who will give us trouble. Milan aren't buried yet. And we still have to learn how to break down and beat the provincial teams who play in their own box.

But I do feel it's our year to lose.

What happened?

Short version: "pitch invasion" (sorry don't know the right word) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8f9HDkZHRvE&feature=related

What I gathered so far Rapid fans have been provoking PAOK fans with "songs". After that things escalated and molotov cocktails, fire crackers, .. have been used as weapons outside the stadium. Inside PAOK fans started to riot before the game, so called family sectors have been full with hooligans aswell but instead of canceling the game Rapid have been urged to play because otherwise it would get even more dangerous for them. Hard to tell the truth but from the videos I watched the PAOK fans have been really dangerous and there was not nearly enough security.

Today the UEFA will rule a sentence. In my eyes Rapid should get a hefty fine (250k) and 2 games without visitors on probation. PAOK should be banned from the UEFA Euro league this year + fine (500k)

That's pretty much what Modric did before we molded him into a CM. He started out wide left. There are no CMs of Modric's talents that we could afford or would want to come here, we will buy a talented young player like Isco or Willian, who play further forward, and slowly mold them into Modric's successor. While that is happening we will play a more solid midfield pairing of Sandro + M'Vila/Parker.

As usual, great analysis by Zonalmarking of yesterday's match:

Wide

Liverpool’s dilemma was about how to use the wide players. Should they close down the City wide midfielders, or let them have the ball and concentrate on picking up the wing-backs? Mancini pushed his wing-backs higher up the pitch, which made the decision very important – there was a big distance between his outside centre-backs and wing-backs.

The key to Liverpool getting into the game – and this will probably be true throughout Rodgers’ reign – was their ball retention. This gave Liverpool greater control, and pushed the City wing-backs towards their own goal. From there, City had little width high up the pitch and were predictable with their attacks. It also meant Liverpool’s wide players could press the Manchester City centre-backs 3 v 3, then drop back and help defend against the wing-backs.

That was particularly irritating yesterday, Milner and Kolarov could rarely participate in attack.

One thing that surprised me yesterday was how poor Liverpool's full backs were considering City only had three pure defenders. But I guess they forced Milner and Kolarov to remain on defense (which was good as mentioned above):

Full-backs?

If there was one criticism of Liverpool’s positional play, it was that they didn’t take full advantage of the freedom of their full-backs. Both Glen Johnson and Martin Kelly had decent games, but they didn’t create significant overloads down the flanks, although the first goal came from a corner after Gerrard moved to the right before crossing, similar to his assists for England during Euro 2012.

City didn’t defend well – the three-man defence doesn’t seem to offer any significant benefits to City at the moment, and they more or less had the classic problem of a 3 v 3 at the back, and no spare man. Some passes were wayward because of Liverpool’s pressing, and the centre-backs didn’t like being pulled wide by movement, or having to dash back quickly into central positions at defensive transitions.

As of the conclusion:
Conclusion

Liverpool weren’t 100% comfortable playing high up the pitch and being told to pass out of the back, City weren’t 100% comfortable playing with a back three. Rodgers won’t change his approach – Mancini might have to, because City don’t immediately appear any stronger defensively or offensively, and he is under pressure to get immediate results. Rodgers will take more positives from this game – Allen’s passing, Sterling’s wing play, Coates’ calmness.

As a tactical battle, both were too concerned with getting their own system in shape to think about exploiting the opposition’s weaknesses.

Yep. Liverpool didn't work well to exploit City's three CBs, and City didn't manage to use their wing backs against Liverpool formation as they planned to.

Anyway hello guys. Still on page 166 of the last thread so fucking miles behind but watched MOTD and caught up on the transfer news:

- United's attacking play looked good but fuck me if our defending didn't look calamitous. Kagawa is my new favourite player of all time, Rafael looked awesome in the opposition's half, don't know what the fuck Vidic was thinking and Rooney (looked sore!) being absent might be a blessing in disguise. Great RVP goal as well. Dembele looked class.

- Arsenal, Giroud looked poor. He'll come good eventually but Arsenal will take a while to gel.

- Hazard looking class again. Azipiculeta is a great signing as well but Moses is a fucking waste. Will hardly play. Newcastle, alas I was sad when I saw.

- As much as I like Everton I was sad to see Villa lose. They'll come good, but Everton looked absolutely class. Great team they have there, can't believe how well they've started.

- Glad Swansea done the West Ham fuckers

- Sad Norwich didn't do the QPR fuckers

- Liverpool looked class, City lucky to come away with the three points. Sterling especially looked very good, but Gerrard seemed off the pace again.

- Spurs, the fuck. Same problems as last year returning again.

- Southampton, the fuck. Dominated the whole game from what I can see.

- Madrid have lost the title already.

- Dortmund yay, and Bayern won as well? Nice to see Manduzciczckcskzms score.

- FORZA JUVE. Also Milan lost hahaha

- Fletcher (although expensive) and Johnson are massive signings, fair play Sunderland

- Jarvis was too expensive but will do a job

- Modric, shame you didn't come to us you fucker

- Sahin LOLOL Arsenal oh dear. Hope he plays enough to warrant going Liverpool, I wish we had him.

- WHERE'S MY MEXICAN MIDFIELDER
