If you'd have told me that City would sign Rodwell & Sinclair this summer I would have laughed in your face.

I almost feel a bit sorry for Rodwell, he gave away a free kick that wasn't really a free kick, and he cleared a certain Liverpool winner, yet the consensus is he had a another shit game. I don't think Mancini helps when he brings him on ahead of Silva, though, in a game where City aren't winning.

Cavani is signing a new contract with Napoli with a release clause of 50 MILLION!!!!!!!!!

!!!!!!!!!FIFTY MILLION!!!!!!!!!

That's almost £40 million, a good way to spend out Warrior plus Champions League qualification money next season.

I'M KIDDING

I think you're right, but the reason Mancini brought on Rodwell was to get Yaya Toure to push up more instead of hanging back in the defensive area of the field. And like usual, he scored. :P

Jovetic's agent apparently said that he received a €30 mill bid, and will sit down with the Fiorentina board.

30 is the buyout clause.

Based Marwood or Marry?

30M€. Thirty million euros. In cash. Do you even have to ask?

My preferences go Jovetic > Llorente > Dzeko, but obviously I'd be more than happy with either. I guess on paper, Llorente should come before Jovetic, since we already have Vucinic and Giovinco, but I just love Jojo too much.

I'm ready for Borriello. Have been for a long time now.

True, and it's the same reason Mancini used to bring on the likes of Barry and De Jong when they were chasing a game last season, although I can imagine it being frustrating when you've got a player of Silva's quality sat fresh and waiting on the bench.
I've been bemused by this too. Not just Wilbury, I've heard it on Football Weekly too, people saying Gerrard had a bad game. I'm not one to gloss over a bad Gerrard performance, I was quick to lambast him against West Brom, but I didn't think he had a bad one against City. If Gerrard played badly then a host of City players were woeful by proxy; He got an assist, nearly forced City into an own goal, and just played very steadily in midfield, getting everywhere he needed to be and not being too wasteful in possession.
I suspect that somebody might of been in for Cavani had he not been utter gash in the Olympics.
I think Chelsea were in for him but the price quoted by De Laurentiis was too high, and above what Chelsea were willing to pay this summer. There was talk that they'd agreed to keep Chelsea in the loop, should someone come info for him this summer, but everything's pointing towards Cavani making an agreement to stay with Napoli this season, and signing the new contract to ensure that Napoli get a fair deal when the English clubs come circling next summer.

I am now on page 178 and seen some hilarious shit. Morsel chastising someone for acting like a 16 year old and then saying the phrase 'take a chill pill' made me spit out my drink.

Also my mate told Dion Dublin to fuck off while Kaiser Chiefs were on and I said sorry Dion and he waved.

Dion Dublin was there??

Tbf Wilbury did watch MOTD, while I watched the whole game yesterday and thought he was very good. From the highlights, it did seem as if he was a bit rubbish but that wasn't the case lol

Interesting talking point from Football Weekly. Jason Steinberg said Liverpool need to admit they have a problem in goal, ie Reina is rubbish at the moment.

I fully agree, he's been mediocre to crap for nearly 18 months and was complicit in our first goal. I can't recall the last time he pulled off a really good save, let alone when he had a really outstanding game.

Liverpool fans probably have a better idea?

This intrigued me, because whilst I'll admit Reina's been wobbly for a couple of seasons now, I wouldn't agree that he was particularly woeful yesterday, in fact I thought he was quite solid, as I believe he was against West Brom (the goals conceded weren't his fault).

I found that comment to be a bit lazy actually. Reina hasn't been at his best, and that's just happened to coincide with a huge dip in form from the entire team, but this season, in terms of the stuff we'd expect from Reina he hasn't let us down. And his contribution to the team from a footballing perspective was hugely noticeable yesterday and has gone overlooked, look at when Allen passed the ball back and it fell a bit short, but Reina had the foresight and ability to rush out to meet it, and play it on with a smart pass.

We would miss his distribution so, so badly. He's simply the best footballing goalkeeper there is. I think he should get the rest of the season un-contested, and then we should sign a back up that can be eased in if he doesn't return to form.

Love the man, passionately, but you have to do what's best for the club. Jack Butland could be a good long term replacement. Think he's a wonderful talent.

Gotta be City. Dzeko transfer is a-go?

Giovinco's injury isn't too serious: two weeks or so, most of which will be eaten up by the international break. Will miss Udinese, though.

Page 190 now, on the RVP goal.

Mat/Wednesday, was with a Millwall fan all weekend who when they heard the score was pretty trashed already and went on to kick someone's tent down and shit in a pizza box, returned it and when they opened it to check if the cheese was indeed off, laughed and said 'fuck you you Sheffield JTs' to an Italian woman.

Football, bloody hell.

WHY DO YOU FUCKERS POST SO MUCH I HAVE LIKE 40 PAGES TO GO

I'm getting worried about him at the moment, there's when he comes out of goal to punch a ball and he doesn't have that same assurance about him

Been a thread on RAWK about him under performing for a while. For me yesterday the first goal was a couple of errors (Gerrard giving the ball away cheaply, Sterling left against Tevez) rather than just blaming it on Reina and the last top save I have seen him make would be one against Hearts from a tight angled hit half volley last week.

Why don't you just not read it.

There was nothing that exciting.

Which is a good thing for anyone who has him in FF, he would have scored either way dude is a beast.

I want Dembele. :(

Sigh. I WANT A BELGIAN TOO.

No! He's ours stay back! You wouldn't be able to afford him anyway. :lol

We were after Gomis in January, apparently. Looked a good player, and my mate who's French swears by him.

Seems like Spurs want to sign Dembele.

Maybe I've got it all wrong but apparently Fulham want £20m but im sure he's in final year of contract. If true there is no way he's going for that much...

I think they have an option for an extra year. And I don't think they can ask for £20 million when £15 million is in his contract.

All according to Levykaku.

Friedel made some great saves on Saturday but he should never have allowed such basic corners to cause chaos. He has to come and challenge for those balls late on in the match. He may give away a penalty a la Gomes but we gave a goal away anyway. Without Younes KABOOM we can't leave that ball to the CBs. Lloris has the agility to come for those balls.

This week is going to last forever. End of the transfer window on Friday and American college football starts up on Saturday. My team (FSU) has a game against a League One or Two type team while the University of Texas (where I work and have season tickets for) has an easy game as well although it's probably closer to Championship level competition.

Ugh two Chelsea players and two Reading players in my fantasy team. Good thing I got two free subs, will probably end up only using 3 and then just hoping 12 of my team will start next match.

Cavani is signing a new contract with Napoli with a release clause of 50 MILLION!!!!!!!!!

!!!!!!!!!FIFTY MILLION!!!!!!!!!

He also signed a new contract with Palermo with some ridiculous release clause and then left for much less a few weeks later... Zamps... Cavani and his agent probably secured themselves some good % sell of fee now with this new contract too.

After yesterday match, Galliani spoke with Allegri and promised a few new players, (probably) starting with Niang, 17 years old striker from Caen, for 3m. Kakà seems pretty impossible as of now, we probably won't get him back.

He has been subpar since Benitez left, but I think "mediocre to crap" is a tad hyperbolic.

Brondby just lost one of their talents to Inter :/ The only thing we've been good at recently is producing talents and now we're giving them away.

At least you know he's in good hands now.

jesus christ. at least tell me you've always been a city fan and not just since 2007/2008.

City fan of 23 years. Remember my dad taking me to Maine Road a lot. I remember getting chips and gravy and walking down the back streets to find our way to the ground.

We had season tickets at Maine Road and at the Etihad too.

I don't really remember any games where he was amazing and ensured Liverpool got points. I remember plenty where he made costly errors, though. Honestly I think he is by far the most ordinary of the top 8 keepers on current form.

That's pretty much what Modric did before we molded him into a CM. He started out wide left. There are no CMs of Modric's talents that we could afford or would want to come here, we will buy a talented young player like Isco or Willian, who play further forward, and slowly mold them into Modric's successor. While that is happening we will play a more solid midfield pairing of Sandro + M'Vila/Parker.

Thing is Modric was always a CM. Played there before Dinamo & before Spurs, (was only rotated between LAM/CAM at Dinamo during his last season there). He was always 1/2 of a central midfield pairing for the NT as well, since his debut in '06. It's just that a couple of average performances at CM when he arrived at Spurs were misinterpreted as him being a liability when he was only really making a transition from a shit league to arguably the most competitive one in the world.

Playing him out wide just eased the process of settling in, and once he did that he was always gonna be at his best in a CM role. So I guess what I'm saying is no one molded Modric into anything, he was like that from the start; just needed time to adapt. Spurs thankfully didn't take too long to get it right & get the best out of him.

If you want to stay ahead of your rivals, you need to make transfers that are equal or better to theirs. It doesn't matter how good a team is, it can always get better.

I just want some defensive cover. I'd love Jojo but honestly the only thing that City needs is to sort out De Jong (sell him or re-sign him.. don't let him go on a free). I think we trotted Kolo out to show he could still play in hopes of moving him this week and he actually did fairly well. I was impressed by his pace -- he ran quite well when having to defend against Sterling.

There won't be deDay but there are a number of other guys who could be available and need to be signed.
