Probably not. Maybe he would if he gets a bit desperate but I doubt it. Would Celtic even be able to pay his wages? He will almost certainly be taking a drop from the £90k a week he's on now but I doubt Celtic can give him even half of that.

I'm just so confused how he hasn't found a club yet. I really hope we're not making life difficult and asking for an unreasonable fee. We shouldn't be because if he stays on we're going to shell out £4/£5m on his wages and he'll hardly play. We are better off just cutting our losses at this point.

Could probably afford about half that, but I think if United are willing to sell him at a discount price it could balance it out. Champions League football is worth about £15m for the club, and I've heard Berbatov wants to play in that competition.

You're probably right though, I doubt he'd want to play in the SPL week on week, his mate Petrov enjoyed his time up there though. Different times.

Fiorentina it is. He would suit Italy.

look @ how happy he is!

Well I'm back from Leeds festival. See the Black Keys live if you can. Amazing.

So, what have I missed?

I hate to be THAT GUY but I got to see them in a little club in America about 8 years ago (Rubber Factory tour). Literally no more than a few feet from them as this particular club had no barrier in between the stage and the crowd. So awesome seeing Carney just destroy his drumsticks, reach down and grab another and continue as if nothing had happened. Dude went through 4-5 that night.

Seems this M'Baye Niang kid saga is finally ending tonight. $100 he's a bust and will end up getting loaned or some shit.

Liverpool bossed City

I really wish Dzeko hadn't fucked up that cross from Kolarov at the near post. If he'd scored (and he should have) at that point, these comments would have been even more delicious.

Well he's only 17 as I recall. I would think there is a very high likelihood of him being loaned out regardless. He seems to be a very talented kid, I was quite excited when City were rumored to be in the poll position a month or so ago. He's cheap enough that any major club is willing to take a punt on him.

Yeah it would have been amazing. When United do it we get the "that's why they are champions" from the pundits and the fans start with the whole "that's why we're Man United" on Facebook.

I had to laugh at this random Tweet;

"Luka Modric the poor mans Joao Moutinho, has joined Mourinho.
36 games last year, 4 goals and 4 assists 2531 passes. A months work for Xavi."

Just like Viudez, Cardacio, Grimi, Didac Vilà (who is going to be injured until June, apparently), Adiyah and so on, basically. Yay Milan! :D

If Kakà leaves this year on loan, when he'll get back Real will have to pay him a lot more because of some economic thing in Spain. So he either go on a loan now and sign for another team in July (what Ibrahimovic did with us in 2010) or he'll stay another year in Madrid, watching every match from the stands.

Both of City's goals were actually just pure luck though, and bad mistakes on Liverpools behalf.

It would be different if they'd been outplayed but created two moments of magic to salvage the point.

This was a case of genuine luck rather than "make your own luck" which defines Champions...from what I saw anyway.

Edit - Not that there is anything wrong with getting lucky, you take what you're given.

Don't be, I wish I was that guy! They were really fantastic.

Did Kyoufu have a meltdown when we lost?

Modric is an absolute joy to watch IMO. He is so skilled.. it is easy to fall prey to disproportionate stats (I've certainly been guilty of this before myself) but he is a guy who is far, far better than his base stat line might suggest.

I am not sure how he'll slot into Madrid's lineup, but they got themselves a player and I'm sure every coach in the PL is happy they don't have to worry about him any longer.

At the same time, both our goals came from set pieces. Think it was a pretty even game. We definitely edged the first half, but sat back too much in the second. City were much better when Rodwell freed up Yaya.

Pretty much agree with everything. Modric's easily one of the best in the world, and so is Özil (when he wants to be). Alonso has had better moments in his career, but Khedira is getting better and better. Madrid have got a really good midfield in their hands.

Should just sell Kaká already. And release Sahin in a year. ;)

Sure.

I only saw the first half and it seemed Liverpool were the better side for most of that. People here were saying they were even more in control in the second period...so I thought City must have had a very quiet second period.

Liverpool looked better on the whole, but it wasn't as bad as the supporters here have suggested. Their second goal was a bit of a gift in and of itself since Rodwell shouldn't have been called for handball necessarily. Fantastic FK by Suarez though.. especially when you see it from the behind the goal perspective. The curve around the wall was incredible.

City had a few scoring chances that didn't amount to much. The ball that dinked off the post really should have been cleaned up and the marking on Skrtel's goal was obviously poor. I would consider Yaya's goal no more lucky than Skrtel going unmarked -- both were defensive breakdowns.

My issue with Suarez is that he can score the difficult goals, but most of the time mess up the absolutely simple ones. Very frustrating.

I should go on a media blackout until Martinez to Bayern is finally done. It's annoying as hell.

Bayern should just stop buying players from Spain. The Makaay move was just as annoying. Or just keep quiet about it, look at the Reus move. Nothing at all and then boom, Reus signed on the website.

more like he'll start or sub alonso/ozil

Alonso could use some rest, he's been playing a lot without much of a break, but since Modric missed Madrid's pre-season I don't expect him to feature a lot in the first half of the season.

Edit: Thiago took part of Barcelona's training today :)

Not sure I would agree with that. City looked the better side for the first 30 minutes up until the towering header from Skrtel. Second half we took over and City struggled with just about every aspect of the game until David Silva was introduced and they managed to string some decent stuff together. We had to sit deep because of how dangerous Man City are on the counter and down the flanks.

It's not a dig at City, I'm making reference to the point about City not being lauded as great champions for the comeback.

City are champions and very worthy ones who several times proved they have what it takes, no less on the last day.

I'm saying on this instance I'm not surprised they haven't been given the "that's what champions are made of" spiel because it doesn't really apply. It applied last week when they came back against Southampton after looking pretty slow on the opening day...and they got the praise for that on MotD.

My post was aimed at dc's previous point.

Trying what? Everything he said is spot on.

Trying? Did you just read what you didn't want to read?

Of all the cruddy little goals United has scored over the years to drag themselves from the mire, I've always had to listen to United fans breathlessly waffle on about United's ability to make their own luck and miraculously snaffle a winner/equaliser. Now, when City begin to gain a reputation for a similar trait, there's apparently differences and paramaters of 'make your own luck'. There's luck, and then there's genuine LUCK. Spare me. ;)

EDIT: Not aimed at anyone here, for the record. I've heard similar arguments a fair amount in recent times around the traps.

West Ham.

Source is the Moose from Talksport, who you probably know im not the biggest fan of. In fairness to him though, he seems to have decent West Ham links.

Skeptical, but hopeful.

That would be a nice move for him, can't see him being too disheartened about returning to his boyhood club, and he's still playing in the Premier League.

Want to hear more about Charlie Adam going, surely someone will come in for him at the price we've set, he's worth £5 million.

Yurt, the only thing that gives me hope that the Llorente thing is true are the rumours that Marotta is flying to visit with Bilbao officials. But who the fuck knows?

There is a difference between making your own luck and just getting plain lucky. Champions make sure they gobble up whatever comes their way - that's what sets them apart. If United had done that last season we'd have won the league but our team then (and now) is too soft and not cut throat enough.

I can't be bothered to have a drawn out debate about luck in football because I don't think there's anything wrong with it, you need good fortune to be good at anything IMO, football is no different; but I'm not the type to take endless snipes at City and laud United to the hills. Stick around long enough and you'll see.
