Well he's only 17 as I recall. I would think there is a very high likelihood of him being loaned out regardless. He seems to be a very talented kid, I was quite excited when City were rumored to be in the poll position a month or so ago. He's cheap enough that any major club is willing to take a punt on him.

This was a case of genuine luck rather than "make your own luck" which defines Champions...from what I saw anyway.

Modric is an absolute joy to watch IMO. He is so skilled.. it is easy to fall prey to disproportionate stats (I've certainly been guilty of this before myself) but he is a guy who is far, far better than his base stat line might suggest.

I am not sure how he'll slot into Madrid's lineup, but they got themselves a player and I'm sure every coach in the PL is happy they don't have to worry about him any longer.

Pretty much agree with everything. Modric's easily one of the best in the world, and so is Özil (when he wants to be). Alonso has had better moments in his career, but Khedira is getting better and better. Madrid have got a really good midfield in their hands.

Should just sell Kaká already. And release Sahin in a year.

I only saw the first half and it seemed Liverpool were the better side for most of that. People here were saying they were even more in control in the second period...so I thought City must have had a very quiet second period.

Liverpool looked better on the whole, but it wasn't as bad as the supporters here have suggested. Their second goal was a bit of a gift in and of itself since Rodwell shouldn't have been called for handball necessarily. Fantastic FK by Suarez though.. especially when you see it from the behind the goal perspective. The curve around the wall was incredible.

City had a few scoring chances that didn't amount to much. The ball that dinked off the post really should have been cleaned up and the marking on Skrtel's goal was obviously poor. I would consider Yaya's goal no more lucky than Skrtel going unmarked -- both were defensive breakdowns.

Not sure I would agree with that. City looked the better side for the first 30 minutes up until the towering header from Skrtel. Second half we took over and City struggled with just about every aspect of the game until David Silva was introduced and they managed to string some decent stuff together. We had to sit deep because of how dangerous Man City are on the counter and down the flanks.

It's not a dig at City, I'm making reference to the point about City not being lauded as great champions for the comeback.

City are champions and very worthy ones who several times proved they have what it takes, no less on the last day.

I'm saying on this instance I'm not surprised they haven't been given the "that's what champions are made of" spiel because it doesn't really apply. It applied last week when they came back against Southampton after looking pretty slow on the opening day...and they got the praise for that on MotD.

There is a difference between making your own luck and just getting plain lucky. Champions make sure they gobble up whatever comes their way - that's what sets them apart. If United had done that last season we'd have won the league but our team then (and now) is too soft and not cut throat enough.

I can't be bothered to have a drawn out debate about luck in football because I don't think there's anything wrong with it, you need good fortune to be good at anything IMO, football is no different; but I'm not the type to take endless snipes at City and laud United to the hills. Stick around long enough and you'll see.
