Issues #21-36 was Dan Slott's run and is honestly some of my favorite Avengers stories from the last five years. Hank Pym led a rag-tag group of C-listers and actually saved the damn world. Not much in the way of eating Chinese food and witty banter. This is the Earth's Mightiest Heroes, straight up.

FUCK YES

Seriously, that was one of the most crazy-fun books Marvel's published in forever. I think people ignored it because of the art (the Khoi Pham fanclub is not that large), but I was genuinely ticked when they axed it in favour of two kinda redundant Bendis books. Slott made Hank Pym into Super Dr. Who, with pocket universes and meetings with Eternity and all the crazy pseudo superscience he could think of.
 
I just didn't expect the Invisibles Omnibus to be this large.

Saucer Country lost me at issue #5, i was intrigued by the first issue but it didn't quite click for me. Maybe it was a little too serious and it wasn't what i was looking for, or i'm reading too many books and need to cut back anyways.
 
Got the New X-Men Ultimate Collection Volume 1 - not quite the omnibus - off Amazon the other day, just waiting for it to arrive. Never read a page of it.

I'm not really liking Gage's Angel and Faith series, the main plot point of
trying to bring Giles back to live
just hasn't been very engaging. I'm up to issue 5 now but i have a stack of issues to get through since i've ordered them all.

Edit: Read issue 6 just now, feels like this is how the series should have started, maybe it will pick up from here.
 
I like it. I've liked most since brand new day and I think its been awesome since Big Time. I think I'm one of the few that didn't like the JMS stuff and quit the book back then though so I'm probably wierd.
 
I only started really reading comics last year when Spider Island was happening so I don't have any knowledge of prior Spidey runs but I have loved it thus far. It's consistently one of my favorite books (even when Ramos is on art *grumble*).

I just realized, i read my books from least excited to most excited. Anyone else do this?
 
Hawkeye 1 - I get that he lives where he lives even though he's cashed up, but why ask the cabbie to take him home as cheaply as possible? It's one thing to keep it real, but another thing altogether to be a tight-arse.

And he's just done it again with Alpha, who's TOTALLY GONNA BE STRONGER THAN HULK THE SENTRY AND THE PHOENIX FORCE COMBINED.

Any time Marvel lets someone else write Spider-Man, whether in Avenging or in crossovers, the result is way better than the current ASM.

I got to disagree. The stories involving the Think Tank have been really interesting for the Peter Parker side of things. It's like going back to the days when he was a teacher.

I'll agree with the Alpha thing, Reed's alarmist attitude was annoying.

I love the new Worlds Finest comics, i think the chemistry between Enchantress and Powergirl is just amazing....probably my favorite duo right now.

Can anyone help identify the chick behind Valkyrie?
I want to say its Tigra because of the red hair and what i think are stripes on her arms, but that bitch Scarlet Witch insists on distorting the image with her silliness.
Then i thought Crystal, but Crystals hair band things are kinda iconic

I cant think of any other female Avengers with that hair and costume who am I missing?


P.S I get the feeling its someone really obvious and im thinking too damn hard.
 
I decided to start buying trades again, picked up Avenging Spider-Man and Spider-Island, loved them both. Which Spidey should I read next?

Well he did motion his hand around his chest and said something like "you means the rips and teared up?" and I said "exactly". I have it on video and will put it on youtube if anyone wants to watch him sketch this. You can't really see him drawing too much because of the way he holds the pad though.

Most to least, and then when i figure out i'm only excited to read 25-30 out of 50 books, i frown.

Always most to least. I get comics on Wednesdays so I'm already psyched for the stuff I'm psyched for most. Why would I torture myself further?

I remember when Final Crisis was going, I shopped at Midtown before work. They open at 8. I literally ran from the train to the store on FC days. Best event series ever.
