Damn, just saw a sick clip from XW Ep78 I think. All the old protags?!!!

I stopped at ep31, worth picking back up?

Makes me wanna rewatch the old shows. Will we ever get Home Releases and Dual Audio?

Dude, why did you stop at 31? That's where they up the already high ante in the series!

Skip the DLC season though (post episode 54)

One of the composers of Power Rangers Samurai, and Megaforce has listed 26 episodes of Digimon on his Linkedin resume. The client is Saban Brands. It has to be for the Xros Wars dub.

RIP Digicleavage

Season 1 and 2 (yes, 2) are my favourites. The Break Up theme remains my favourite team.

I'mma go listen to it now.

Yeah I liked those and the 3rd.

I watched a couple episodes recently and the dialogue is pretty funny. Enjoyable but for different reasons than when I was a kid.

Started watching Adventure and Tamers again, comparing and contrasting. Such really great series. For shows that were labeled as Pokemon knockoffs, the characters really do grow a lot as series continues.

Man, that Devimon and initial real world arc before Devas show up were really something.

I agree. Liked One, Two, and to a lesser extent Three. I watched the beginnings pf season 4 and 5 and hated them. Never went back. They didn't have any digimon flair to them.

There's no such thing as "Digimon flair" since they're all Digimon!

Thanks for that. Really helpful....smartass.

The point was that they didn't seems to have anything in common with the first series other than the title.

You imply that the "first series" is Digimon.

I'm being a smart ass because that response is your atypical "Gen 1 Pokemon are better because they look like Pokemon!"

Frontier has a lot in common with adventure. You have a bunch of random kids getting sucked into the digital world and stuck there tasked to save it. They dont have any clue what theyre doing and theyre not the best team at the start. The lack of digimon partners was probably the big problem with it though as you dont have anyone but the kids to bounce off each other.

Savers has a lot in common with tamers. Starts in the real world, main cast is a three man group, group in the shadows trying to deal with the appearance of digimon in the real world, kids head for the digital world part way through the series to deal with big bad and retrieve someone, etc.

But then if you look at it, only Xros Wars (especially Xros Wars), Savers and maybe Tamers to some extent have mons that actually are worth being called a character. Frontier essentially trimmed the fat. The main problem really is post Seraphimon a.k.a. the Takuya and Kouji show.

I dont know, while the Adventure and 02 digimon werent deep, I still appreciate them and they had defined personalities.

I dont understand what happened in frontier. Everyone should have gotten fusion evolution.

EmperorGreymon, MagnaGararumon and Susanoomon should have only showed up with the last ten episodes.

One dimensional personalities I guess.

And to be fair, it's not like it didn't happen in older shows (e.g. anyone not Tai and Matt, Davis and Ken, and Takato and Henry (yes, Ruki was pretty useless compared to the two)). I guess it's just more apparent in Frontier.

It happened but it wasnt as bad because the other kids didnt lose their ability to fight in the process of giving the lead and his copilot the go ahead. They still did stuff and helped out, stalled and sometimes managed to beat the bad guy. And Rika wasnt useless, she became the defensive spellcaster. Natural progression for her and Renamon going from the duo who only wanted to fight, to someone wanting to protect.

Then again female characters being relegated to defensive positions isn't really that surprising in Digimon.

I really doubt they'd censor Mervamon and Lilithmon that much.

Given it'll likely air on Vortexx (Saban Brand's Saturday morning block on The CW) there's no way anything that can be seen as fanservice is making it through the visual edits phase.

Didn't Rosemon in Savers and catfight in Adventure got in?

Didn't Rosemon in Savers and catfight in Adventure got in?

Savers was edited by Toei USA to the restrictions of a cable channel (Disney XD). Xros Wars is getting edited by Saban for the restrictions of a broadcast network. The CW (the broadcast network in question) is seemingly a lot more harsh than even Fox (the broadcast network that aired Adventure through Tamers in the US) were. They used to demand 4Kids to edit TMNT 2K3 episodes even though they aired on Fox with no problems.

I tried to watch Xros Wars a while ago, but didn't like it for some reason and stopped. (this was only like episode 3, haha)

So, after putting it off for so long, I decided to give it a try again. Currently into the Death Generals saga, and I really like it. It's different, and that's what makes it so good.

I want to buy the dvd set of season 1 that's coming out soon.

but wtf, it's like 80 dollars. Then, if I want it to be shipped at a decent speed.....and amazon taxes where I live.....that's close to 100 dollars!

ugh

And so it is official:

Saban Brands Acquires Digimon Brand; Will Debut New Digimon Fusion Season at MIPCOM
MarVista Entertainment to Manage International Distribution Beyond Asia

LOS ANGELES, CA (Sept. 25, 2012) – Saban Brands has acquired the Digimon franchise, adding the long-running Japanese anime property to its growing portfolio of entertainment assets. The acquisition, which encompasses rights to the property outside of Asia, continues Saban Brands’ dramatic growth since reacquiring the Power Rangers property and purchasing lifestyle brand Paul Frank in 2010, amongst others. Saban Brands will work with MarVista Entertainment for distribution of the series outside of Asia. Japanese animation studio, Toei Animation Co., Ltd. will handle licensing and distribution of the property in Asia.

The Digimon franchise, which was first brought to the U.S. in 1999 by Saban’s Fox Family Worldwide, explores a digital world where powerful creatures known as Digimon, or digital monsters, battle for supremacy. With the help of their young human partners, the Digimon defend their world and ours from various evil forces.

“We’re thrilled to reconnect Saban Brands with Digimon, an entertainment franchise that embodies the strong fan base and growth potential we look for in new additions to our portfolio,” said Elie Dekel, President of Saban Brands. “We look forward to reintroducing the brand in new and exciting ways that will allow more fans to engage with Digimon.”

Saban Brands will debut the newest season, Digimon Fusion, at MIPCOM, which will be held Oct. 8-11 in Cannes, France. MarVista Entertainment has been appointed to handle international distribution (outside of Asia) of the new season, as well as distribution for more than 250 half-hours episodes of Digimon content from the library.

“We are naturally excited to further extend our relationship with Saban Brands to represent the Digimon franchise and to present the latest iteration, Digimon Fusion, to international buyers at MIPCOM,” commented Fernando Szew, Founding Partner and Chief Executive Officer of MarVista Entertainment. “Children worldwide have embraced the Digimon television series since its launch, providing strong ratings success for broadcasters around the globe, and we anticipate a lot of enthusiasm from current and new partners who will undoubtedly want to play a key role in the continued growth of the Digimon franchise.”

noooooooooooo

Watched all 54 episodes of... Digimon Fusion? I liked it, definitely in my top 3. Recommendations on the next 20 episodes or just skip?

Wait I saw Tagiru and Arresterdramon in that preview, does that mean they are dubbing Young Hunters too? I guess Young Hunters is technically a part of Xros Wars right? If that's the case then I guess it makes sense. I just always kind of separated Xros Wars and Young Hunters in my head for some reason.
