Ending a case even the judge called “monstrously tragic,” a veteran Oklahoma teacher convicted of raping two 16-year-old male students was sentenced to 15 years in prison Wednesday.

In a tearful courtroom testimony, Michelle McCutchan, 40, said the sexual abuse she suffered as a child drove her to engage in abusive sexual relationships with the high-school students as an adult, according to local reports.

But the former middle school teacher’s psychological plight received little sympathy from Associate District Judge James Pratt.

McCutchan’s history of abuse was no excuse for her to “create more victims,” Pratt reportedly told her.

“We’re not in the business of providing you with treatment you could have gotten elsewhere,” he said.

Wednesday, according to Pratt, was the first time McCutchan had even mentioned remorse for the teens she raped, the Tulsa World reported.

McCutchan had even testified that if her sexual escapades with students had not been found out by her husband, she would have continued with them.

Last month, McCutchan was convicted of rape, sodomy, child neglect, and providing alcohol to minors.

She was ultimately sentenced to fifteen years for two counts of second-degree rape, ten years for two counts of sodomy, fifteen years for child neglect, and five consecutively running years for three counts of providing minors alcohol.

The charges will run concurrently. They are within Oklahoma’s 85 percent rule, so McCutchan must remain in prison nearly 13 years before she is eligible for parole, according to the Enid News.

13 years guaranteed. So at least its not just a slap on the wrist just because the students were make and she was female.
 
Was it actually rape or statutory rape? Were the 16 year olds willing? Because 16 is hardly a kid. That's legal here. Yeah she was a teacher, it's wrong but monstrous? I dunno if I'd go that far.

The article doesn't mention the word "statutory", so we can assume it was semi-consensual at best.

Isn't all sex with minors legally non-consensual, though?

Age is not an issue here at all.

Yes, it is rape by statute, but not in regard to age. It is because she is a teacher.

She probably gave them alcohol before they had sex. That would probably cross the threshold from statutory rape to rape-rape.
 
Yeah, this is bullshit.

No way the punishment fits the crime. 16 year old males are old enough to handle the physical and psychological, emotional issues during and after sex with a female much older than they are. That's assuming the boys consented. (Yes, I know that minors legally can't "consent," but y'all know what I mean.)

Really, I don't know the whole story, but I really feel sorry for her.

Damn... hot or not, more than a decade sentence for a 15 and 16 year old is waaay to brutal imo.

But I admit, if it was a man who raped two females (or two males for that matter), i'd probably think it was an acceptable sentence..

The double standard is a touchy subject but i'm not entirely convinced that it's completely without warrant.

I think the court system is just getting tired of these cases. And starting to make examples because some folks don't have commonsense.

The punishment doesn't fit the crime, but not because 16 year olds are horny or male or whatever, but because the sentence is insane and does next to nothing to deter the crime in general.

It is a touchy subject, but I generally agree. Sexuality is very different between males and females. Just go to chatroulette to see what I mean :P That doesn't mean you can making a ruling based on that alone, but goddamn, I really find it hard to believe that two 16 year old males were really "raped" by this woman. I really just don't see it. Did she tie them down and forcibly abuse them? That would be something that I could see warrants many years in jail. But if the boys wanted to have sex with her as well, then I don't see how this is such a horrfic crime. The biggest crime here, is that the boys would get A's in the class without deserving it.
 
Personally, I'd like to be able to know that I can send my (future) kids to a school and know that the teacher isn't going to try and fuck them.

But, I think as time goes on that's more and more of a pipe dream.

Yeah, seriously WHAT THE FUCK. What this lady did was legally wrong (I am curious about the context here, but yeah fucking dumb), but how did she get 13 years and that other motherfucker get 8?

Though if it was abusive and not really consensual, then I could see the 13 year old sentence make more sense, but seriously.

I agree. Considering the 2 boys age, that's a little severe I think.

She is kinda hot. At 16, the way my hormones were raging, I would have probably been the happiest kid ever and wouldn't have told anyone.

So you're arguing that a. boys can't be raped and b. girls don't like sex?

It's not even about that. They very well could have been 'forced', but to me, there is a difference between forcing someone to penetrate you, versus you forcibly penetrating someone.

Both acts are incredibly violating of course, and both should be punishable, but in that regard I think the double standard holds a tiny bit of credence.

Me neither, I'd rather females have more leeway when it comes to rape than males though. At sixteen though the majority of males I've come across would wish something like this would happen as long as the female is hot.

Also her and that guard both look like they haven't eaten in awhile.

So we can all agree the rape is only wrong when it's a dude doing it or an ugly women.
