Regardless of one's opinion of the meltdown, I don't think Himuro is a men's rights activist. Himuro's take on the incident is more of him seizing a particular moment -- as he was looking to quit here anyway -- to call out attention-seeking behavior. Of course, people are free to draw their own conclusions. It's just that, personally, though I don't know if that approach was perhaps the best way to go about it, he was trying to draw attention to egregious behavior while going out in a blaze of... something, I don't know if glory is appropriate. Either way, I don't think misogyny is what fueled it.
I think that a lot of us have our issues with specific threads or posters that really hit a specific nerve, but most won't lash out for fear of a ban. He did. I don't know that I'd have necessarily gone that same route to try and get my point across, and I don't disagree with his ban since personal attacks are frowned on or whatever. But I also don't think that his irritation was misguided, because there was a post history to back up what he was bent out of shape about.
That said, there's something to be said for just quietly disappearing instead of going out in a blaze of glory.
It happened a while ago, so all I remember is that himuro was upset about a lady talking about her breasts. That's incredibly pathetic...a big "So What?", in my book. Behavior that reeks of a sexually frustrated, shut-in nerd. He would be absolutely miserable in my circle of friends, as our ladies love to get dressed up when we go out.
So, misogyny or not (I don't know, or care), GAF is better off without someone who can't ignore a person who annoys them. If you want to quit GAF, then go quietly into the night, rather than some attention-whoring-wannabe-blaze-of-glory rant. Be an adult about it.
