Interesting to note the purported thicknesses in comparison to the current products;

9.3mm — iPhone 4/S
8.8mm — iPad 2
9.5mm — iPad 3

7.4 to 7.6mm — iPhone '5'
7.2 to 7.5mm — iPad mini

Apart from being really similar in thickness to one another, they're both substantially thinner than their predecessors (even compared to iPad 2).

It seems Apple is finally managing to get their heavy hitter iDevices in the same ballpark of thickness as their iPods have been for some time now. The 7-8mm range. That's pretty awesome.

Oh and to compare to the old teardrop iPhone (3:2 4") leaks, those dimensions were 6.9mm at its thickest and 5.3mm at thinest (6.1 average), since it was a bit wider it managed to get much thinner than the 5's.

Whatever the more expensive configuration will be, I will buy. Loving the form factor on this thing by the looks of it.

Yeah the size looks great. Will now be a way more viable way to read books on. The regular iPad is just too big and heavy for it. I also have a Kindle but that one is mostly used fo travels. At home it is nice to have a device I can use for a lot of stuff and even get some workload done on. I hope 16GB will be the smalles size just like Amazon is doing it.

hmmm.....i dont see it in the app store. am i doing something wrong?

Then it's not on the app store. Go to openoffice.org

There will be 8 gigs at 199. new ipod touch price and model.

sorry for being off topic, do you guys know any good free program to open excel files on the macbook air?
Use http://www.libreoffice.org/download/

Its more up to date and is actively being worked on open office has not bin for some time now.

Well Everything Everywhere (Orange/T-Mobile) have got their 4G announcement out the way today, it's going to launch in the UK 'within weeks':

http://news.sky.com/story/983663/mobile-provider-to-launch-4g-within-weeks

The service will be available on HTC, Samsung, Nokia and Huawei devices, the company said - and EE is also widely expected to offer it with Apple's new iPhone 5, although this is not confirmed.

Somehow I think we'll be hearing more about this tomorrow.

Haha so it appears the event banner,

7968928364_98fe172ace_b.jpg

looks very nice, 1 more day and we can stop speculating

Which bands is the iPhone 5 supposed to have, then? Because I know the iPad 3 isn't compatible with EE.

5 is different isn't it? International standards, there was that other article about that.

The timing here is far too coincidental, as said before.

I think it is all coincidental. :P

Oh, well, doesn't matter to me as I don't live in any of those cities and I find Orange 3G in my area to be a bit shit.

Orange is 1800Mhz, they'll just be freeing up some of that.

And Orange and T-Mobile share signal so you are never stuck for 3G :-P

If the additional 8 gigs will only be 50 bucks more I would still be happy. 299for 16 would kind of suck but I would probably still get it. I like the Nexus 7 but I am already part of the Apple eco system due to the iPhone so getting an iPad makes more sense to me.

Do you work for a large compant? Your work likely has a Home Use Program letting you get Office for around $11. Ask your HR group.

I think I'm IN for the iPad Mini.

MacBook Air for work, iPad 2 for home consuming, iPad Mini (3G) for school and iPhone for on-the-road.

Sorry for parachuting in, I've read a few bullet-points of what's expected but haven't seen much that's jumped out at me (and I'm not to keen on the new form factor)

Is there any especially good reason for getting a 5 instead 4S? (especially since people will be unloading the 4S for the new model...)

Looking to pull the trigger on a 5/4S/SIII in the next week or two

4S is fine now but 1 year from now, some iOS7 updates will NOT work because you do not have the latest model.
Just future proof yourself if your not sure.
And if you don't care but want apple than yeah go ahead and get a 4S after 5 is announced because it will be cheaper.

Uh... why don't you wait until it is officially announced to decide this. We don't really know anything officially about the new iPhone yet. Tomorrow will reveal a lot.

Same. I only have an Android phone atm but in the past I've had an iPad, iPod touch, and iPhone so I have tons of purchased apps and games and to be quite honest I see no reason to own an Android tablet being that most of the tablet apps are identical to the phone ones (mostly).

I'm wondering if the availability of the YouTube app means iOS 6 will be launching tomorrow (for existing devices).
Or google has simply readied themselves to that possibility by releasing it today, but knows nothing.

Either way it's great that its out and I thought the YT experience on iOS was long overdue for a revamp, but boy does the new app icon sucks ass. I wish there was a way to use the old YT one. ;[

It's a long overdue update, icon isn't the best though haha

Need the OS update as well to stop it pulling up the shitty one when you click on links though.

Youtube app is great, much better than the old stock one that didn't even let me sort my searching properly. I'm surprised they can run video on their own UI, I've never seen a video run on my iphone outside of the native video player. That's great, you can watch the video in portrait mode with the rest of the page below (info, comments, related videos) and the thumbs up/down buttons are even there in landscape mode.

Bah you know the worst part about this? Even though announcement is 1 day away, we wont see hardware for a while longer. :(
What? Don't they usually show it on the event all over the place and launch the dedicated website the same day of the announcement?

Yes, I think he means releasing the actual hardware however
Ah yes, misread that.

Do we think iOS6 will be out tomorrow and the iPhone 5 pre-orders to start as well?

iOS6 won't (officially) be out until iPhone 5 release day. But I'm sure the GM will drop for developers tomorrow and Apple will encourage everyone to get their Passbook/Maps/iOS6 apps in asap.

Who knows when they'll start iPhone 5 preorders. Might be tomorrow. No one knows 'cept Apple.

oh really? dope! i've never been an apple dev until this year.

Has it been possible in the past to preorder multiple iPhones on the Apple website? I need to preorder three new iPhones (one for myself and two for family members).

I'm interested in this too. Want to order one for me and another for the gf. From checking it seems if you want more than one you order the first one online then you have to go to the store to get the others. Can anyone confirm?

In the past they've usually limited it in some way. I think it might've been 2 per customer? Something like that.
