Interesting to note the purported thicknesses in comparison to the current products;
9.3mm iPhone 4/S
8.8mm iPad 2
9.5mm iPad 3
7.4 to 7.6mm iPhone '5'
7.2 to 7.5mm iPad mini
Apart from being really similar in thickness to one another, they're both substantially thinner than their predecessors (even compared to iPad 2).
It seems Apple is finally managing to get their heavy hitter iDevices in the same ballpark of thickness as their iPods have been for some time now. The 7-8mm range. That's pretty awesome.
Oh and to compare to the old teardrop iPhone (3:2 4") leaks, those dimensions were 6.9mm at its thickest and 5.3mm at thinest (6.1 average), since it was a bit wider it managed to get much thinner than the 5's.
