Excited. Been waiting for this so I can dump my Android phone. I like Android a whole lot, but the whole lack of version parity with all their phones, terrible support, constant crashing/issues, and the like just pushed me over the edge. Love my iPad, so all my universal apps should transfer over.

on the 'meeds

now we race to the patent office.

yup. that'll do it.

uuuggghhhh, I have such fond memories of Sonique. It was such a precious, fiddly little player.

I forgoet at what point I switched from trying to mess around with sonique and just stuck with winamp.

That's the thing, I don't even know. I feel like Siri was a bit of a surprise and while not exactly hardware it was sort of intertwined between the OS and the hardware.

I don't think it necessarily has to be hardware it just has to be something uniquely incorporated into the phone that I wouldn't be able to replicate elsewhere.

I'm sure it will have such a feature, at least for the first few weeks...

Yeah, I think I spent more time downloading and switching skins in Sonique than actually using it for music.

Will the LTE in this be the same as that of the iPad3? ie not UK friendly? I guess it would only work for EE anyway till next year, when the iPhone5S/6 whatever is released. I had the first 3 iPhones till i went over to Android, but the 4 and 4S didnt peak my interest, maybe this one will.

Store is still down. If they're doing pre-orders right after the event then I hope the site is ready for chaos.

Really specific question here:

I heard iOS6 is going to let you stream to your iphone with iTunes Match, rather than having iTunes Match automatically download your songs as you play them. That makes it almost worthless to use on my phone at this time. Has someone confirmed that this change will happen with iOS6?

Also, when does everyone assume iOS6 will release?

Hey, that was the shit back then. (Back when we, like, had no taste and stuff, and computers were still hi-tech marvels...)

You guys might not have had taste... but I was rockin' this sucker:

Winamp's mmd3 skin. And even the original Winamp skin was so much better than Sonique...

i always thought sonique was ugly as fuck (never mind all the l33t cyberdork matrix skins people made). Winamp was pretty bad looking too, but it was quick and functional.

It still downloads the songs for me. What's even worse: It downloads in low bitrate if you're using mobile data.

I think I'll be waiting 'til the hype dies down to pick up an iPhone 5. I'm perfectly happy with my 4S anyway.

Are there any trade-in programs that I can take advantage of when I decide to upgrade, or am I stuck paying full price and tossing my old one?

I hope not. I prefer it the way it is now. If you want to play a song frequently, why would you want to have to stream it repeatedly over bandwidth restrained 3G/4G?

Winamp only worked if you are used Windows Explorer to search and only wanted to hear one album. I really don't see the appeal besides the badass trippy visuals. When music libraries got into the hundreds of gigs and I needed to sync apps and podcasts along with music, there was no reason to go out of my way to use something other than iTunes. My 400 gig music library opens within seconds on my new build.

It will be publicly available in a week, but as off today you'll probably be able to torrent the golden master build, which is the final one, install it via iTunes and get over with it.
You can use it, but you'll have to trim it down.

Yeah well.. Winamp isn't really as good now when compared to iTunes, if you plan on syncing stuff... but Winamp has been around for just so many years. In fact I think the skin I posted was from like 2003 or so... And if you just wanted to manage a library, it was great if you used the library window.

As for using Windows Explorer to search and only wanting to hear one album... I'm not following you here...

Look at it the other way - I have 10,000 songs. For 90% of the songs, I don't want to hear them very often, if ever. But when I want to hear some random song, one time, suddenly it's on my phone, taking up space.

So which of the billion live blogs out there do people like the most? I don't normally get to view these things in real time.

My son - who will be 3 years old in 2 weeks can use it.

Obviously he can't read to mess with settings, put he knows which icons to push on the screen to get to the game he wants and he knows how to stop and start youtube videos.

My 7 year old daughter knows iOS inside and out, even what all the settings do and how to personalize things.

My two 3 year olds navigate my iPad using only gestures. Its absolutely hilarious seeing their tiny hands pinch to zoom and close apps.

My oldest prefers my Nexus for whatever reason, but I usually come back to it with all my widgets reorganized :-/

That's a non-issue. The OS will delete songs as space is needed, least played first. You don't need to worry about it or manage it.

So awful. Thank goodness I saw the light and tried iTunes.

On a PC? In the early 2000's? iTunes? LOLOLOLOL....

But no, really.. iTunes was (is) horrible on PC. I use it on my MacBook Pro and I'm fine with it, but on a PC I definitely used Winamp always. It was so light, and I could have it playing some background music low while playing games, and it would never affect the PC performance.

Btw, when will it be possible to update the OS via the device and not through iTunes, or to download only updates for apps, not the whole app time after time? You thought with so much attention for perfection Jobs had these would've been the first things to go.

Ya...this is really annoying. I don't have the Mac Anymore that my iPad is attached to, so this means if I want to update to ios6 I have to completely erase my iPad and attach it to a new computer...correct?

Also afraid AT&T killing grandfathered unlimited accounts cause of LTE :(

They've had LTE phones out for a whole year now. They could have easily killed it if they wanted to. I don't think it'll happen. Hopefully it doesn't, especially since LTE just lit up in my city a few days ago. Played with it on my brother's GS3 and was amazed.

Anyways, super excited for this conference. Can't wait to dump my Android phone.

Ah, ok. I didn't know that.

Another iTunes Match question. I sometimes have a song stop playing and skip to the next song. I just downloaded the new DMB album. It gets to the end of a song, cuts of the end, and skips to the next song. Even if I manually try to skim to the part of the song where it's cutting off, it can't play that part, and keeps skipping to the next song.

It does this whether I'm streaming or playing music off my hard drive.

Anyone else experience this?
