Ya...this is really annoying. I don't have the Mac Anymore that my iPad is attached to, so this means if I want to update to ios6 I have to completely erase my iPad and attach it to a new computer...correct?

As we said, this was already resolved in iOS 5. If you're still running iOS 4, than you should have updated a year ago.

O_o

That's a buzz kill if I ever saw one.

You'll have the whole conference available online a few hours after it's over. Can't remember how many hours though...

Wait, it was already possible to update the iPhone without plugging it into a PC? Kinda forgot... (I updated to iOS5 on day 1 and it's been so long now)

Anyone else afraid of a UI update for iTunes? Could end up being an 80's boombox style knowing the trend these days.
A bit, but if it performs better than the current iTunes they can paint it rainbow colors for all I care.

I'm willing to bet it'll look like a cross between iPad's music app and the new Mac app store.

Thanks.

I guess this is probably not the right thread to keep derailing with my Mac Noobness. I do appreciate the feedback though. One of these days I'll go to best buy with a chair and just mess around with one for a bit.

I was in the same boat about 5 years ago. Picked up the entry level macbook at the time. I'm still primarily Windows based when it comes to desktops/laptops, but I learned that year that the internet's fanboy wars are even more full of BS than I had already believed. OS X is friendly to new users, yes, but scales really well. It was really eye opening to see how it was designed and the kind of stuff developed for it. Your technical side, if you are the type to dig and research, will enjoy it.

Overall I ended up being glad I have real experience with both OSs now.

Man, I hope this new iTunes delivers. iTunes for Windows is literally the most bloated, unresponsive piece of software I've ever used, and that isn't hyperbole at all. I actually like its functionality for playing music, so if it delivers on performance then consider me excited.

what if it still doesn't support LTE ?

Yeah, that was years ago though right? I remember the shaky cams too but not anymore.
Yeah, around 2009 or something. They were kinda showing off the new servers IIRC or at least that's what everyone said.

It was supposed to be the beginning of a new era of Apple livestreams, but alas :/

Of course. I haven't connected my devices in who knows how long, and they are all up to date. Settings-> General -> Software Update

Last keynote there was a stream from the audience. Anyone else remember?

Has a similar link surfaced for today?
What? No. The stream is never live (back in the day it was), but a few hours after the keynote, Apple puts the whole thing up on their site. Follow the liveblogs who take pics and report verbatim the action.

which website should I follow for this thing?
Links are in the OP, i'd recommend the Verge along with a backup just in case they experience issues at some point.

You guys might not have had taste... but I was rockin' this sucker:

Winamp's mmd3 skin. And even the original Winamp skin was so much better than Sonique...
That's a throwback for me. I remember a friend of mine having this and us thinking it was the absolute shit.

Thanks for the feedback that is a bit reassuring. I'm over the fanboy nonsense. My mom has a MBP so I might ask her if I can barrow it for a few days to get a sense of what I'd be jumping into.

There's usually a CNN stream that starts 15-20 minutes in.

Everybody watch TwiT for the pirate streams!
(That Leo Laporte will talk over)

People keep saying this, but I haven't seen them do pirate streams or even talk about them since they were thrown out at least. They have Andy Ihnatko skyping in after the event, that's all.

Also afraid AT&T killing grandfathered unlimited accounts cause of LTE :(
It's possible. However, (anecdote incoming) my friend recently went from an iPhone 4 to a Lumia 900. He was on the unlimited data plan from his iPhone and was able to keep the same plan when they switched him to 4G.

They got another guy thrown out last year as well. It's become a trend.

They did it for the iPad event earlier this year

Are we starting a new thread for the event or is this the official one? It was started so early and it already has so many pages.

Still pissed about the new dock connector. Steve would have never allowed this.

Such bullshit. Jobs would have gone for the new connector if it helped to make the phone thinner and lighter, which it does. It's not like this is the first time they've changed out the dock connector. The iPod had a couple of different ones.

Damn; I used to love Sonique. It had better SQ than WinAmp to me. And Sonique 2.0 with the Mantis UI looked slick as hell. Sad Lycos stepped in and canned it

Been looking forward to the 5 for a long while now. They'll have to knock my socks off cause after getting a retina iPad, my iPhone 5 lust has diminished considerably

I know Becky Worely is no longer welcome because of TWiT (she jumped steve with some "tough" questions when she saw him after event) but I must have missed the pirate stream stuff/iPad thing.
