Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate announced for Wii U/3DS, coming to West, no 3DS online

I wonder if the camera lock-on will be present in the Wii U version even though the second analog stick makes it obsolete.
Look closely:

Trust me you won't want to turn it off.

This has camera lock? :/

yup, but it's optional.

I think it's a really nice feature on the 3DS and I know I'll use it even with 2 analog sticks : just because you have to move your thumb from the buttons to the stick to adjust the camera. But with this option (or with "the claw" on the PSP) you keep control all the time :)

It's not a camera lock per se. You tap a button and the camera will focus on the monster instead of centering the camera behind the player (you can still do that too with the special target cam)

it's also on 3ds. lol.

I want the actual controller with 2 analog sticks and online more than anything.

If not I would just go back to playing MHP3rd.

While I love all the MH games, Tri was easily my favorite because of the great online. Made quite a few friends, what a great community that was.

I'll admit that MH3G was on my list when I bought a 3DSXL, even though I have a Wii (Not MH3 though). Being able to play it anywhere with whatever fixes and upgrades they've cooked up was an interesting thing to consider. Will give it a look when it comes out. Now get crackin' on that XL Circle Pad Pro!

That's why the shoulder buttons are godly.

The wii is always 640x480, even in widescreen. So you're getting your 480p.

The internal resolution of Tri was close to 360p IIRC, the Wii upscaled it from that. A corner cut for the benefit of graphics, I guess.

Going to be amazing going from 360p to 720p. Hopefully they severely tone down the HDR lighting too, made Tri even blurrier than it already was.

What does that mean? o_0

They introduced a lock-on system for large monsters in Monster Hunter Tri-G on the 3DS. To lock on to the monster, you simply click it's icon on the map screen and the camera would automatically track the large monster. In the case of the Wii U image, this icon is on the Wii U tablet controller, it's on the lower right hand corner below the zone map.

Oh, sorry. So that's why it's all blurry... And me thinking it was the excess bloom lighting.

i made the mistake of buying the wii for MH3. Won't make that mistake again.

PS: game was good. What i did not like was the console.

No I understand that, I didn't understand why Tenbatsu said we should leave it on based on the pic.

I think he's just saying you won't want to turn the lock-on off, even though the Wii U Pro Controller has the second analogue stick. Instead of micro-managing the camera you can just concentrate on the fight?

Ahh OK.

Hmm I'll have to play for myself, but I don't have a problem with Tri's camera system. In fact it ruined me for Xenoblade's (too touchy.)

Ah, thanks, thats fine with me :)

I have a pro controller for the Wii and still clawed it in Tri out of habit. The lock-on system is going to be a bit of a change.

Wiimote and nunchuck was the way to go on the Wii. Place middle of thumb on the 'A' button and leave the top of your thumb to handle the camera on the D-pad. It was the only control scheme that let you attack and move the camera simultaneously, and it was comfortable.

So, it looks like my little brother decided he's going to get a 3DS XL + MH3:U, while I'll get Wii U + HD version. We can play locally which is nice, and we can switch off between 3DS and Wii U.

I need to beat Monster hunter Tri on the Wii. I come back to it every few months. The last fucker who made me take a break was Rathalos.

I hope this game gets bundled with a Wii U pro controller. I've got a classic controller pro, but I hate that it has to attach to a wiimote.

I hope we get a return of 10 person lobbies.
Only 4 people allowed to be in a room in tri was just the fuck worst.

What game had 10?
I remember MH1 allowing 8 but I could be wrong. I'm sure you knew though, but Tri actually had 8 in Japan. We got reduced to 4 to facilitate Wii Speak support (which sucked).

1| I hope this has 10 person lobbies, because that sounds fantastic
2| I'd be outraged that the 3DS has no online if not for the Wii U version
3| I doubt my irl friends will be on this as soon as I am, so I'm guessing I'll be co-op'ing with you guys
4| I hope the Wii U bundle is worldwide
5| SO HYPE, THANK YOU BASED CAPCOM

Oh ya 8, its been awhile since I played 1 because capcom are jerks and shut of the servers.
And ya I know about the wii speak stuff. Never even encountered anyone who he even had the stupid thing.

It came with my Ultimate Hunter Pack but I threw it in the bin after trying it twice.
I wonder if Tri Ultimate will work with the mic that's built into the gamepad. I'd probably still stick to skype though.

While Bayo 2 was the really big thing for me from yesterday that got me giddy for WiiU at long last, this was the runner up. I've tried the MonHun games in the past, but just never really got into them, and although it might irritate some people to hear, I find the idea of them on handhelds just really unappealing, so I've been waiting for an iteration on a home console with a contemporary online infrastructure to really give the series the time I'm sure it deserves. It could have been that PS3 HD one, but I can't read Japanese and have little patience for attempting to thumb through online guides.

I don't know that the wait will be rewarded, I might still not really get anything out of it, but it's so cool to know it's finally going to be available in a form I've wanted since all the MonHun hype started leaking out of Japan.

Since this is a 3DS port, wouldnt the WiiU be upscaled as well? Or has there been any technical talk around the WiiU port yet?
