Mother Jones: "Romney Tells Millionaire Donors What He REALLY Thinks of Obama Voters"

He dismissed these Americans as freeloaders who pay no taxes, who don't assume responsibility for their lives, and who think government should take care of them.

Lol it's like the middle class doesn't exist anymore.

Am I really the only guy working at a regular job paying medicare, social security and state taxes? Am I really the only guy that has to fill out a W2 form every year?

Somebody said it earlier but this is one of the few times he sounds like he has any conviction in what he's saying. And it's complete disdain for the poor.

Romney would do better off with a policy more similar to that era. He might pay more % wise, but he'd likely make more overall if poor people become engineers and not McDonald's employees.

What? Romney generates his wealth from sheer force of will and hard work. He certainly didn't need anyone else.

I thought the same thing. This is literally the first time I believe that Romney believes in what he's saying.

Probably not. George Romney, maybe, or one of those older businessmen for whom Fordism was a functioning principle and the business was that of actually providing products and services to people. But not Mitt. For all the talking about how we need a "businessman" in office, one must remember that Mitt was a management consultant and a leveraged buyout artist -- in other words, at no point was he within six degrees of any actual productive labor, just financial trickery, which doesn't require anything to actually be accomplished for you to profit.

Posted this on FB, with a link to the CBS article about this:
I try to stay out of political discussion. I really do. I have my opinions and you have yours, and 99.9% of the time I've grown to respect that.

However, if you plan to vote for Mitt Romney, please consider what he thinks of people that voted for Obama:

"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what," Romney is heard saying in the video. "All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it. That, that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what."

---

There is no possible connotation that justifies vilifying people like this. How can you be a president of all of the United States with such contempt for half the damn country?

Does he not realize how many people rely on Social Security and Medicare and Unemployment? Those people ARE dependent on the goverment. Those people ARE victims. Those people paid taxes when they were better off and they ARE entitled to the assistance they so desperately need.

Plus, his little diatribe has racist undertones all through it.

If you've read all this, and still plan on voting for this guy, please remove me from your Friends list. I simply cannot understand why anyone would willingly support such a fucking crooked piece of shit like this.

True, I forgot about that. Dude is a freakin vulture with a cocaine like addiction for money.

Will anyone in the general public actually see these videos?

It will be all over the news and political ads I'm sure.

This has really been one of the worst run and handled presidential campaigns ever. Just disaster after disaster.

This election would be a complete and utter landslide if Obama wasn't seen as the Antichrist by so many people. Because they're damn sure not voting for Romney himself.

Strategic release? Why release it now when his campaign is all but doomed?

Always finish strong

Yeah Mitt is pulling a Rick Perry. Looking legit enough until you look at him up close and watch him a while. Then you realize there's no way this guy can be President.

edit: oh shit I just read about 53%. i can't stop laughing. he did it to himself.

This is the biggest blunder I've ever seen an american candidate make in a presidential election.

Half the country can suck mah dick, i'm a rich bitch. Holy shit.

And they have the brass to speak about class warfare.

Will anyone in the general public actually see these videos?

As I mentioned on the previous page, they just played most of it on NBC Nightly News. I don't doubt that the other networks except perhaps Fox will play it.

The most damning part about this is flat out saying he couldn't care less about almost half the country.

There is absolutely no running from what he said. I cannot believe he was dumb enough to say something like this out loud, even if it was at a private fundraiser.

Before this election, I was indifferent about Romney. Now, I think he's the worst kind of a dick, the dick that didn't know he's being a dick.

FOX will play it and spin it into a possitive for him and his base.

For everyone else. He basically called half of america wellfare queens and said he doesn't care about you. Pretty amazing really.

This. Seriously this. This just fucking sickens me.

Just watched the video myself now that I got home. Good god, I don't like Mitt Romney in general but when he said "who believe they are entitled to healthcare" with that inflection I felt a genuine spasm of rage. That's incredibly rare for me. That's a significant reaction.

To be fair, he says he doesn't care about trying to convince them to vote for him.

But he followed it by saying "I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

And even if he was just talking about not getting their votes, it's still bad.

Or that he included FOOD. Fucking food. You would think that as a society we should have evolved enough to care enough about providing FOOD to people in need.

I mean ... holy shit. A poor person wants to eat.

But he followed it by saying "I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

And even if he was just talking about not getting their votes, it's still bad.

And regardless it's obvious he was railing on that 47% when he was going on about government dependency and having the audacity to want healthcare.

There's no spinning the absolute disdain he showed for nearly half the country in the video.

Wow, the world would be a better place if Republicans left it. They are sickening.

Sooo....are you saying you wish we were all dead?

re: Romney's comment. I see some people running with the "My job is not to worry about those people...." and spinning it into "fuck these people" but.....he's talking about trying to win their votes. The rest of the speech I can't really defend.

He says that he'll "never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives". If thats not basically saying "I'm not going to do anything about them" then I don't know what is.

He says his job isn't to worry about those people, and then speaks with disdain of anyone who gets assistance from the government such as the elderly retired, who vote predominantly republican.
