On campus, we have a Games Room, where we can play console games. I ended up playing this random dude in UMvC3 and MAN I totally missed playing competitively.

I also tried to play online. Online sucks. :(

Some stuff I've been meaning to post:

SF25th Monopoly Unboxing/tour. BISON DOLLARS!

VentureBeat did an article on 15 SFII mysteries. Mind fucking blown at Q in SFII.

Capcom wants to hire a new FGC advisor a-la Seth Killian.
The US market has a very large voice within plans for future fighting titles because it is the largest market for that content.

Matt, Derek, our community team and I all have our ears to the ground for what people are looking for and we do consult with folks who are active in the FGC on a variety of topics as we're scoping things out.

In the not so distant future, we will likely (but not definitively... budget issues and all) hire a new fighting game "ambassador" who will also help in such efforts.

The best things you can do are to participate within appropriate fighting game forums on Capcom-Unity. That said, we do routinely keep tabs on SRK, Eventhubs, etc. so we aren't only looking in our back yard.

All of this gets communicated back with our recommendations to the producers in Japan. Now, does that mean we always get what we ask for? Unfortunately, not always, but the voices are heard and reported.

Who could fill Seth's shoes? I can't think of anyone as intelligent as he in the community.
I remember you suggesting Viscant in the UMvC3 thread, and I agreed he was the next best I can think of. Someone else with lots of tenure and knowledge across many games would be great too.

Honestly, I could see them hiring someone like Wong too, doesn't seem like a bad choice.

Why do you say things that make me sad so often outside of Mahvel GAF?

BibleThump
Haha, I didn't even knew it existed for the longest time since I pretty much only played CvS2, SCII and MvC2 and wasn't really following videogames (let alone fighting games) closely at the time. I just played whatever my neighbour had in in his Dreamcast.

I've said some wild shit about 3S like not even liking the animation, but the game has grown on me a lot honestly. Found myself watching the 3S:OE QL and tournament footage a lot in the past few weeks.

:(

I never gave a shit about SFIII until recently.
I still don't give a shit about SFIII. :-)

*forehead slap* You're right, Viscant. I completely forgot because he hasn't been that prominent lately, but he's the perfect choice.

Wong is amazing at the game, but he's still mentally immature in some ways. Recall, for example, that he was the first person to complain about how OP Vanilla Sentinel was. And we all know how that turned out.

Chrisis is also really smart and good at articulating exactly what he means. I think Viscant would still probably be a better choice though. Le Viscant is an Old(ish) school player, knows a lot about a lot of fighters, is well-known and resepected, and is generally intelligent (i.e., he has non-fighting game related intelligence as well.)

I j ust feel like he has a good idea about a wide variety of fighting games, even outside Capcom games, and would serve to be a great rep to the Capcom community especially considering his history in Capcom fighting games.

But yeah he is a bit knee-jerk on the balancing stuff too. Viscant pretty much always knows what's up and is pretty hard to disagree with when it comes to stuff about balance, at least when it comes to UMvC3. Like Zissou says above me, I think he's also insanely good at articulating what he means, which not a lot of players are good at.

Viscant's background in gambling and reviewing Fleshlights might hurt his chances. I would nominate Ryan Hunter or Arturo as replacements for Seth.

Viscant is also really good, and Chrisis is just decent. Viscant is the only person who understands how Marvel tiers works, and that's the kind of person you need advising on fighting game future.
