Fighting Games Weekly | September 17-23

The Marvel vs. Capcom Origins OT will be up by Tuesday/Wednesday
Based on waht PSNStores reports, it'll be releasing this coming week X3
atm I don't have a witty OT outside of 'Let's go crazy!', I did read one recommendation but would like to see other ones too.

Marvel vs. Capcom Origins |OT| Capcom took "More Marvel!" out of context.

Marvel vs. Capcom Origins |OT| The dream is dead

Broly legs is retiring from the FGC. I wish him the best.

Is it just me or does anyone else find it annoying when you hear people "retire" from the FGC? I don't know what the story is about Broly Legs but I remember hearing about Bananaken retiring, yet I still see him active in the FGC with his own stream and such. People made a big deal out of Gootecks retiring a few months ago too but now everything seems as they were before.

Maybe it's just the word "retire" that irks me? Regardless, if people have to play less video games to prioritize school, work, or just life in general I really don't see the need to make an announcement that you're retiring from video games.

Of all the public "retirement" announcements I've ever seen from fighting game players, I've yet to see a single one of them follow through with it.

With that said, I wish BrolyLegs the best. He's awesome!!

I don't find them annoying, but then again I'm a wrestling fan. Retirements there are a dime a dozen.

Retiring from the FGC doesn't mean you stop playing fighting games lol banana ken just said he will no longer be apart of razer and he won't travel and enter tournies. Gootecks didn't retire from the FGC if I remember correctly.

Pretty much this.

Everyone retires from the FGC a minimum of 3 times before they die.

What do you believe retiring from the FGC means? Not entering tournaments anymore?

Finally caught up with Topanga, Fuudo take a bow, just a dominate display. Pity some tossers still think he's a fraud when he's won more shit in SFIV than most players that get dickrided.

World Cup Game Champ (beat Daigo in a Vanilla Ryu mirror match)
Evo 2011 Champ (First time it had a big international field)
Godsgarden 3 Champ
SBO 2012 Champ (OCV'd Finals and won first 2 matches in semis)
Topanga League 2012 Champ (Dominate fashion with a GD of +30)

His record speaks for itself, also Sako vs Daigo was pretty hype.. wish Sako went back to Cammy though... he aint ever going to beat Fuudo's Fei with Ibuki..., props for coming 3rd with the lowest tier character out of the 6 though.

You mean like when he said Fei Long could link into ultra after his command grab? Hardly Seth's fault that games in development change before they're released...

He also said they balanced how good focus attacks where by how good the character is, oh wait they never adjusted them in any updated version of the game. And IIRC this was during the commentaries for Justin Fei vs Daigo Ryu at seasons beating.

When I hear someone retiring from the FGC, I assume they're disassociating themselves with anything that's involved with being in the FGC. If someone stops entering tournaments then they're just no longer a competitive player. I'd say they're a part of the FGC if they still have an interest in fighting games.

I don't really think of people who haven't entered a tournament apart of what we understand to be the fighting game community. My sister loves Soul Calibur and Powerstone but I wouldn't consider her a member of the FGC. She hasn't viewed a stream for a tournament or engage in a conversation with someone over a forum on how to improve her Cassandra let alone enter a tournament. She's happy at home in her bubble pressing buttons and will probably play the next Soul Calibur game I buy.

I also think it's strange how some people think "fighting game community" only applies to the competitive scene...but why really care? Dem semantics.

Holy shit, hoodaman beat Ricky Ortiz from losers - 6-1 - holy fuck.

His performance was excellent - probably the only time hoodaman can win against a player of that caliber.
