I really don't understand how Robinson has been able to maintain such an insanely high level of hype when he's laid countless eggs in the past three years. Each season begins and everyone magically forgets how much he screwed up in big games in the previous season.

On the plus side, he's much less of a douche than Tate Forcier.

I am still so pissed off about yesterday's game. What a melt down. Are there any Tech fans in here that can explain to me if Leach always calls games so poorly in the 4th quarter? We had that locked up but he kept throwing the ball... Why? Good news though, we have Oregon next. Oh yeah, then we have Oregon State and then Cal. Better news, I have tickets for ALL 3 of those games! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Wait, no, FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.

I was dumb for thinking it would be an instant turn around, but we are clearly better than CU and fiddle fucked around and blew it. Cripes. Really makes me want to reach for my check book and donate....

I still think it shoulda been:

1. Bama
2. Oregon
3. Florida State
4. LSU
5. Georgia
Hey, MightyHealthy. Is that what is was like being a 'Ville fan after Petrino left?

Also, not only is the Razorbacks' season in the shitter, they are in my dog's shitter as well.

7 out of 10 BigXII teams ranked in the coaches poll. 9 if you count others receiving votes. Sure Kansas sucks, but they serve as a defacto cupcake 4th OOC game for the rest of the conference.

He's incredibly stubborn. He often refuses to go away from the gameplan even when it's not working and he runs generally the same offense no matter the score or time remaining. It's generally okay because the system obviously works well but don't be surprised in the future when the opposing team makes halftime defensIve adjustments that work and Leach doesn't change anything.

Also: CU must have some kind of voodoo curse on him because he consistently lays an egg against them.

And not a fuck was given on that play.
How did that even happen?
LSU being ahead of FSU is an absolute joke.
Ehehehe. This is my favorite part of the FSU is back cycle.

So Sagarin's ratings have FSU with the weakest SoS so far and ND with the hardest.

ND is the only team with 2 wins against top 30 teams as well.

Hey guys.

I'm sad we couldn't get it done at the end of the game to win, but man it was a blast. Had a lot of fun. I haven't been to an Auburn game since I graduated.

We made some bad calls and I wish Chizik wouldn't be so defensive. There were a couple 4th downs I think we should've gone for it.

That punt fumble was also terrible and I still think Frazier has the reflexes of syrup. He's just so slow in the pocket. It's almost like he's on x2 slow mo until he decides he's running the ball, then he just runs.

Here's a pic from the game:

Watching Alabama is so disgusting. I'm just wondering who they're going to absolutely destroy this year in the NCG? I'm thinking FSU or WV.

You guys have to find someone other than Frazier. Just can't get it together in the pocket. You can actually see how slow his thought process is, and that last past, the INT, oh geez was that bad.

Those algorithms need larger data sets before the results converge on anything useful (if you ever consider the computer rankings to be useful).

Small datasets can produce bizarre and counter-intuitive results, like the week 2 ranking that had Boise State 10+ spots ahead of Michigan State, despite having lost to them in the only game either team had played.

Computers just knew the B1G was going to suck this year.

I will take this....at least you have John L, despite him sucking he is a million times the coach that Kragthorpe is. When you statr getting beat out for recruits bymSMU come get at me

Missed this from the press conference yesterday:

First words from OSU co-DC Everett Withers about giving up 403 yds to UAB. "We gave up 15 points, that's all I give a shit about."

I get if you want to run a bend dont break defense. But it shouldnt bend one bit vs UAB, I think theres a serious issue at DB and lack of talent at LB (outside Shazier, whos a stud). Im starting to think Kerry Combs is in over his head, he was just a Cincy area High school coach not too long ago.

We dip his weed.

I am from Australia and I just got espn subscription so I am starting to get into the college football. They play a couple matches each week but its always been different teams. Games Ive seen so far:

Texas v Texas A&M
Clemson v Florida State (yesterday)
Florida v Boise State
Michigan State (spartans?) v someone

I know a bit about football from NFL matches I have seen but I am interested in starting to follow a college team. Then I read there are something like 200 college teams!

Do people only support teams if they went to the college? Can you go to one college but support another college or is this frowned upon?

I like to follow the battlers in sports, people and teams punching well above their weight and try something different in order to get an advantage over richer teams (like swansea in the EPL). Who would be a good team for me to follow?

Also can someone provide me with a simple explanation of how they come up with the finals and the national game?

I went to Oregon State University but I've been an Oregon (U of O) fan since I started going to games at the age of around six. My uncle is an alumni and my family has had season tickets since the mid-80s, but Oregon State was a better fit for me in terms of what I wanted to study. So football did not dictate where I went to school and where I went to school did not dictate who my favorite team was. ;p Since UofO and OSU are rival schools, I kept the fact that I was an Oregon fan and went to games between myself and a couple of friends. They didn't really care.

I'd say it's a state pride kind of thing just as much as it is about school pride. Most of the Oregon fans I know (friends, family, etc) never went to UofO but still love the Ducks because they represent our state well. Many people just like the way certain teams play as well. We gained a lot of fans from outside of Oregon after we started winning a lot of games and demonstrating a lot of speed on offense, and you'll lot's of fans from better established programs as well (Alabama, Texas, USC, etc) even if they are not from those states.

Most pick the team they support based on either proximity to where they grew up or where they went to school.

At my school (Florida State) there were tons of Miami fans that went to school there, some Florida fans, and a few stragglers from random schools. Not really frowned upon that much unless you are a dick. Miami fans were dicks.

For you, you will want to pick a team that is often on TV so you can watch them more often. There aren't really rich teams in College, since it isn't really a money game. There are teams that are better more often than not, sure, but that has more to do with recruiting power than purely money.

Popular teams that would probably be on TV more often include USC Trojans, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Ohio State Buckeyes, Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida State Seminoles, Florida Gators, LSU Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, Texas Longhorns, Oklahoma Sooners, and Oregon Ducks.

They have all had varying levels of success over the years, but are usually at a baseline decent level of success.

Currently, the top two teams as decided by Computer and Human rankings go to the National Championship game. Starting in a few years, it will be the top four that will go to a playoff. The rankings are a big mess of factors, including records, strength of schedule, weather in Albuquerque, and other such important things.

Cheers Yaboosh and Piggus.

Yeah I watched the Florida State match yesterday and liked the crowd chanting. They helped get some momentum up for them to come back in the 3rd. I might start supporting them considering as I was yelling for them and my housemate ask if I was their fan.

I have some connection through old family friends to Notre Dame but they seem to me to be a team which has a lot of resources and prestige hence are the best as people want to play for them, I am probably wrong though.

Notre Dame hasn't been good for around 7 years now, and hasn't been great since the early 90s. They have a lot of haters around here because of attention they get, most of which is from their exclusive NBC tv deal here in the states. They are on national TV every time they play. If you have a connection to Notre Dame somehow, that is as good a reason as any to become a fan of a team, but prepared for some good natured ribbing from everyone around here.

Most teams have some fun history, rituals, traditions, and chants/hand motions that go along with being a fan.

Funny that you mentioned the 2 teams that are "back". Both teams had fallen on tough times in the past decade, but this year both teams are showing signs of prominence. I guess if you're starting out as a CFB fan, it would be more fun to cheer on a team that is on the rise as opposed to one heading the other way.

Florida State has a cool chant, and one of the better pre game ceremonies in sports. However, over the last 10 years, they have had a tendency to shit the bed against crappy opponents.

Notre Dame is the old Catholic school. They used to get a lot of kids out of the Northeast because of that. Anti Catholicism isn't really a big deal in the US anymore, so it's a lot harder for them to recruit. This, however, doesn't stop old fogies in the media from shouting at the top of their lungs how they are back at the slightest win.

College football in the US is a weird beast. It's a recreational activity started in the 19th century at Universities that has become a multibillion dollar industry and probably the second most popular sport in the US after the NFL. The tradition make it exciting, but the tradition really hampers change. They have been talking about playoffs, which will start in 2014, since at least the mid 70s.

Also, 6 of the top 10 stadiums by capacity in the world are for College Football: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_stadiums_by_capacity

Chicko should root for Boise State.

We need a Boise State on the forums. He can be that guy for us.

It would work for him, since they are the plucky underdog who wins without resources, or prestige.

Definitely the strongest of the "have-nots" school.

I mean, it's either them, Louisville, or Kansas State.
