Resident Evil 6 - Review Thread | Activist Reviews and the Hate Patrol Destroy Truth™

Even with the easy ride reviewers tend to give their games, NT titles struggle to get much above 80.

Given the previews of the game, seems like the game will recieve really good scores. Positive reviews happen all the time, but NT is really touching the right strings with the game to be highly praised by reviewers.

Resident Evil 6 got 10, 10, 10, 9 because one of those dudes got a little annoyed at all the Monster Hunter footage showing up on Nintendo Direct.

Although now I feel partly responsible when someone actually takes this image seriously. :lol

hahaha......................this is accurate.

They gave the same score to:

Final Fantasy XIII
Super Mario 64
REmake
Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence
GTA IV
Okami
Red Dead Redemption
L.A.Noire
Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past

Besides FFXIII and L.A.Noire (which I still enjoyed) I don't see a problem with a 39/40 for those games.

Edit: 40/40 Nintendogs on the other hand...

I still believe it can be a great and fun co-op game. I was not expecting 4.5/10 but again, I will judge the game by myself as usual.

Seems there's a lot of wrong things in the game so, like I said Co-op fun time will at least give me a good time.

RE 6 (and Capcom) got punished! Go back to the roots. Such a lame game! I want a real RE game not this first person shooter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Activist reviewing is my new favorite term

Holy shit. Oh the use this phrase is going to be getting now.

I don't know why this always happens to me, but as soon as things start getting painful reviews, I feel that means I absolutely have to try them.

Killscreen is everything that's wrong with journalists and journalism rolled into one, with games thrown in almost as an affectation because they needed an umbrella subject.

Well, no, that's entirely true. I don't think these guys are relevant enough to get paid off.

The most puzzling thing about that 39/40 Famitsu review is why Capcom would skimp on that last point of all things.

They surely couldn't give RE6 the same score as Nintendogs.

I don't think so. If it is I can never find out who they are, lol.

Looking at the scores they gave out. There have to be 8 in total. 4 crazy ones. And 4 competent ones. And the 39/40+40/40 scores had either 4 crazies or 4 competent people doing the review.

It appears that the reason GiantBomb didn't want to release a review and quick look of the game yet is that the review copy comes with restrictions regarding the amount of footage shown in videos of certain portions of the game. This is what I gleaned from watching their I Love Mondays video.

LOL famitsu are a joke

didnt they give ninja gaiden 3 a near perfect score aswell?

also dont alot of japanese developers directly work for the magazine?

Holy shit. Oh the use this phrase is going to be getting now.

It really is perfect, isn't it? It's like the fanboy equivalent of 'entitled'. Only bummer is that the phrase might be vaguely applicable in criticisms against reviewers that actually advocate taking some course of action against the game or the developer. Vaguely.

I'm not saying RE6 is good or bad--personally I'm waiting for the PC version, but I was hoping for player impressions from fellow NeoGAF members. I guess those will start coming in tomorrow or so.

NeoGAF OT will go crazy over the game for the first 2 weeks and hate it after. It's what always happens.

These reviews are interesting to say the least. I look foward to playing the game and deciding whether this game is okay, good, great, or amazing.

Wow... the swing on these reviews is very interesting.

either capcom bought some reviews or this game is really a hit or miss with people.

but i think they are all in agreement that this game is an attempt to throw every idea out there and see what sticks... Considering how many mechanics were added to this game and how convoluted the story is.. it might be time for a Resident Evil Reboot

It's an awful review that basically tries to be snarky while failling flat to explain why the game is bad, since he's like reviewing it as a movie instead of a videogame.

Of course the game has a messy, inconsistent plot. Is FUCKING RESIDENT EVIL. Did you expect David Mamet quality writing or something?...what about the gameplay mechanics and the new movements?, what about level design? is the shooting satisfaying? the controls?

Why people don't review videogames as why they are....fucking videogames.

Amen

I say buy the game when it hits $20 in a few months and they people will quit bitching because it was $20 and for that price it was either worth or it was a steal.

Honest and humble question fellow GAFfers:

Do you believe reviewers would not be so harsh if this was not a Resident Evil game? I mean, at this point some Games just use their names to grab the attention right? Many of them walked away from the starting formula.

I don't know if I made myself clear (sorry, today my english is a bit lazy GAF).

No It will be certain people will hate it and try to convince everyone else the game is trash, others will love it and do the same than there will be rest that will rest in the middle.

I think it's going to be really a love or hate it game just from the reviews so far.

Where's/who's the Giantbomb quote from? I can respect the point of view, especially if you started with Leon's campaign and haven't played the whole game. Overall the game is garbage, but the it also has some very bright spots indeed?

Edit: nevermind I see the ILM thing now.

You can make the exact opposite argument if you wanted to, would people not be so easy on it if it wasn't a Resident Evil game? Doesn't matter much, the game is what it is. The mechanics are what they are, the camera is what it is, etc.

Do I think there would be more 3s and 4s? No.
Do I think there would be any 9s and 10s? No.

It would get middling reviews, from what I've played.
