Isn't New Zealand the only country aside from the US that allows pharmaceuticals to advertise to the public through TV, pop-culture magazines, etc?
They also have universal health care.

which isn't true if you actually were reading. your fellow libs brought up the type of people who vote for romney.. which i had the nerve to respond to.
Then explain why voting for Mitt Romney is a good choice.
All you are doing is saying that politics suck, & PoliGAF sucks, without any credibility to your opinion.
Right now, you are just trolling.
My challenge to you is to stop trolling.
Just a note: I'm not saying all Republicans are racists, that's ridiculous. I think most are ignorant of the issues, though, and likely brainwashed by propaganda from places like Fox News.

If romney is elected, it almost certainly means the republicans win the house and the senate, and they end up replacing 1 or 2 moderate/liberal judges on the SC with hard right ideologues like Scalia, ensuring a 6-3 or 7-2 majority in the immediate future, and a conservative majority for the rest of our lives.
It means the PPACA gets repealed (which means people under 26 can't get covered by their parents, and pre-existing conditions can be used to deny coverage, and lifetime caps on coverage are legal again, and companies no longer have to limit their administrative costs/overhead spending to 15% or lower, and the donut hole in prescription drug coverage comes back, and... you get the idea).
It means that dodd-frank gets repealed (not that it was great, but at least it was SOMETHING).
It means that funding for the arts, pell grants, and public broadcasting/radio get cut.
It means further restrictions on abortion.
It means a $2T hike in defense spending and trillions in reductions of government tax receipts at the same time.
It means medicare and social security likely get gutted by increasing the eligibility age, decreasing benefits, and/or a combination of both.
It means a much more unilateral/brute force approach to foreign policy instead of coaliation building and intel gathering.
A romney election means conservatives control every aspect of government when the bounceback from the Great Recession kicksinto high gear (the unemployment rate would be under 7% right now had conservative state governments not enacted austerity measures. Not to mention the fact that obama's jobs bill was killed by the GOP as well, delaying the recovery instead of creating 1 million new jobs in 2011/2012). It means that the republicans get credit for the recovery that they tried to stonewall and draw out as long as possible unitl it became most politically beneficial for them.
It means the neo-conservative ideology sticks around for the next 30 or 40 years, most likely.
It's possible to just not like Obama you know.
I'd say the major difference here is most people outside of the sports threads wouldn't care about stuff like that, otherwise they'd be in there talking about them; whereas information about candidates leading up to a national election probably has a more wide ranging appeal to the people on this forum outside of the politics thread. I don't think professional sports are comparable to national (and by extension international) politics. It's as if NBA/NFL GAF made a new post for every trade and ESPN gaffe. I don't get why PoliGAF gets a pass. I can't wait for the fucking elections to end.
Guy jumps in and cries about being generalized, yet calls everyone else a lib. Classy.
you are just dumb as hell
You evidently lack the nerve to talk about the OP.
name calling isn't nice. wonder if i could get away with it here.
When the opposing choice is a heinous piece of shit like Romney there really isn't.
You can ding Obama for NDAA, drone strikes and the wiretapping shit but all that is peanuts compared to Romney's garbage policies and the fact that he'll set up a conservative majority in the Supreme Court for the next 30 years.

That's not hard to understand, really. If you don't need to avail yourself of social programs and can afford to spend your time focused on building wealth as your priority then Romney is probably your guy. There are plenty of educated people who are aware of the issues that fit this description. However, there are a lot of uneducated people who vote Republican who are ignorant. I wouldn't give all Democrats the benefit of being highly educated on the issues, either. There are plenty of people who vote for Democrats just because that's what they've always done. It doesn't make them critical thinkers.Sure, if you're ignorant of the actual issues, it's pretty possible.
Also, we're not just talking about liking Obama in a vacuum. We're talking about voting for Romney instead. I really want to hear legitimately why someone who isn't ignorant thinks he might be a better president.
So, you're not really a Republican who plans on voting for Romney, right?
You are calling me a liberal, which to me, is calling ME dumb. I have to admit though, you've been doing a very poor job in arguing your position on this board.
Fine. I can understand that. It's possible to just not like Obama you know.
yes i am.

To the people who are against Obamacare and are voting for Mitt and won't him to repeal it, why? Why would you want to turn back these policies, especially the lifetime coverage caps and pre existing condition coverage?
What about Mitt's heathcare agenda is good, or better for us as a nation as a whole? How would his vision would drive our nation forward so more people are covered?
Of course what we have now is not good enough or perfect, but it's a start.
I believe in fiscal responsibility. I'm not rich by any means but i dont think those making more then me should have to pay a higher %. that's just not fair to me and smells of greed. when i see the person in the grocery store in front of me buy $40 in lottery tickets then uses a food stamp card to buy groceries i think she should pay some federal taxes.. *gasp* i know.
I could go on and on and on with my views but everyone disagrees with them here anyways. it has nothing to do with Islam or color of skin.
3. Distinct Possibility of Trade War with China.
I work two jobs, I get home, I cook for my family, I feed my dog, I own a house I have bills to pay and take care of people in my home...my uncle gets a food stamp card because of his illness, because he can no longer work, walk or do much on his own anymore, it's hard to get by alone as the sole income, I am broke for 3 weeks out of every month, I have to make every penny last...I will use that damn food stamp card.
yes i am.
Well, we've let you get away with dodging everyone asking what are some reasons to vote for Romney.
Give it a shot!
10 people have asked you why. Let's hear it.
Then can you please give us a glimpse of why you are voting for Romney over Obama? Nothing fancy, just a brief overview of why Romney's policies are better for America. I, and I'm sure others, are genuinely curious about this.
ahh ok.. looking at Annov's reasoning its only subtle sexism. Women and their foodstamps buying things he doesn't approve of.
Wealthy people pay less taxes than those federal taxes you'd want her to pay for, due to the tax rate on business income.
Sure, if you're ignorant of the actual issues, it's pretty possible.

I'm fine with food stamps. alot of people need help. if the girl in front of me can pay $40 for lottery tickets. she can pay some federal income taxes.

So basically you're using people taking advantage of the system as a reason for not doing it?
But have no problem with the countless wealthy people getting out of paying taxes?
As I said, ignorance.
You do know that a lot of people making millions upon millions upon millions actually pay a lower % than you! Mitt Romney himself paid probably far less than you did, and he doesn't want to change that at all.
Also, yay, anecdotal evidence.
And I do kind of find it funny that you bring up lottery tickets, since that's basically a state tax, lol.
She represents all then getting government help? Like all GOP are racist? And all libs are dumb?
Come on man. You would throw the baby out with the bathwater?
You stance seems greedy and selfish kinda. Why does it bother you? Her life is probably hard enough and you are probably living better than her.
Why tear down a system because of one. Some rich people are cheating the tax code and hiding money. Lets tear it all down because of a few. Right?
You think Mitt will tear out all the tax loops?

not at all. I'm trusting romney to take out the tax loop holes that the rich use to lower their rate.

Also, he has stated he thinks the capital gains tax is fine where it is. That's the loophole that rich people (and he himself) uses to lower his rate.
He said he would do so many times, while lowering rates across the board. He just hasn't provided specifics that show the math working. You honestly believe Romney and the Republicans would close loop holes for the rich? Do you have any evidence to suggest that Romney would do such a thing?

not all. just too many of these 47% Romney mentions could be paying something to the federal government. doesnt have to be alot.

You trust Romney to close a loop he himself uses as well as all of his friends and the people that both line his pocket and help fund his campaign? Oookaay.
Two things
1. The number is closer to 21%
2. Of that 21% many are republicans
3. Romney has apologized and said it was a horrible sweeping generalization and he was very wrong to say it.
4. You apparently regurgitate everything Romney says without checking to make sure it's true. That's very creepy.
