Origin $20 off coupon [Expired - EA states they're honoring games]

Pleased they decided to let everyone keep their free old games. I'm awaiting the positive outlook on Origin in their next financial report.

HAHAHAHAHA i gots free games i not goin to jailz yeeeeeahhhhhhhh!!

And my lord at this situation. I feel bad for the folks on the forums over there actually.

Are you kidding me? What about those of us that legitimately filled out your survey and haven't been able to use the code we were promised!?

So the guys that scammed the system (some of whom never even did the survey; they just got the code off the internet) get to keep their multiple free/discounted games and those of us that were honest and filled out your survey get squat? I really hope this isn't what you're saying. I really do.

Any response to this?

EA

I understand why some folks may be frustrated that the coupon code ended early, but the coupon is now expired.

Hi everyone,

The coupon code is now expired; we’ll honor all sales made with the coupon code over the weekend and hope fans enjoy their games.

Thanks,
Sam "QforQ" Houston

Yeah if this was their plan all along it for sure worked. Even if it wasn't, they did a masterful job at turning a fuck up into an advantage.

There's no way I would have ever used Origin otherwise, I downloaded it just for this.

That's terrific. I'm loving the bitter responses in that EA thread from people that missed out on the exploit. I hope they provide us with more pages of entertainment.

I have an alt account with 8 games that I'm going to trade for a game on Steam or maybe some refined metal in TF2 I think.

Yeah, because that was their plan since the beginning, and now EA has control over our computers.

Wait 'til Steam starts to get mysteriously uninstalled from our PCs.

I hope everyone enjoys their free games :)

EA just wants to see you smile.

(if someone could edit the pic for this thread that'd be awesome)

Man, Origin just keeps on giving. Free games, ea.com forum drama, I'm ready for more.

Edit:
I hope everyone enjoys their free games :)

EA just wants to see you smile.

Hah, and thank you!

Ironically I saw the survey e-mail in my inbox, far too late at that point to even use it, but I did it out of some sense of duty to the free games.

They should have another plan. I'm still not buying anything on their store, because it's EA.

Hey it worked on me. I've totally been avoiding Origin. But this was enough of a deal to let me download and install Origin. Now the next time that a cheap BF3 or ME3 deal comes along I'll pick it up probably. So for a few games that I would not have bought from them anyways they now have me as a possible customer, not too shabby.

I'm floored. Did not expect that, but if EA reversed the transactions it would have caused huge backlash. Even though the mistake was on their part, plenty of us did abuse the hell out of that coupon.

Was GAF the only place that knew about the exploit to get more than two games?

Slickdeals was the first place that knew about this according to me. Kotaku and Polygon got it wrong.

Slickdeals knew about it on Friday at 7:49 PM PDT. This thread was posted 1 hour later. That Reddit thread was posted YESTERDAY

Was GAF the only place that knew about the exploit to get more than two games?

Reddit knew for sure, and 4chan probably knew.

Edit: after the fact, I mean, after the slickdeals post. It seems like the big gaming communities caught wind of it pretty quick.

I was talking about this exploit that let you basically loot as much as you wanted. A few other places I checked didn't seem to know about it.
I posted that on 4chan six hours or so before that person did.

Also, I just noticed on of my friends on Steam bought SimCity 4 today. I feel so bad for not telling him.

LOL!! Some folks are pissed that the coupon expired early, and that EA should be sued for screwing up "legit survey" users! :lol

I did the survey, and when I saw the $20 off for games $19.99 and above, essentially being a free game, I said "cool" and closed it, not caring for it. I didn't know if the code was unique or not but by the time I tested it's uniqueness, I saw this thread created later on and realized it isn't unique.

Legit or not, EA is being awesome for honoring all the purchases. You snooze, you lose.

My only regret? Not picking up Shank and Shank 2. Damn server was too slow by then to pick it.

I was talking about this exploit that let you basically loot as much as you wanted on one account. A few other places I checked didn't seem to know about it.

Wasn't much different than the initial exploit, the fact that it had changed 3ish times before it ultimately went down is the more confusing part
