Dawson trolling Jeff Kent is hilarious.

lol, she better be careful. Knowing someone's secret is good reason to get eliminated.

Just watched the latest episode. Instead of having fun with Jeff Kent, Dawson should have told him privately that she knows his secret and if he ever voted her out she would expose him at tribal council before leaving. She was stupid and got what she deserved... which is a shame since I would have loved to see her blackmail Jeff Kent.

Dawson was hilarious, it seems like she was just there to have fun and for her own other reasons, it was a nice change. Kind of like a crazy Courtney Y. Wish she'd gotten more airtime, some of her secret scenes were great.

Malcolm's one of the most likable guys that's been on the show, he's a great narrator. Between him, Denise, and Penner (and Swan when he was still there) this season's had some really strong confessionals.

Mike's edit is bizarre, but considering in the past how much airtime returning players like Rob and Coach got it's a pretty welcome surprise. No confessionals for four straight episodes is too much, though.

It's really one of the more bizarre edits I can recall. I don't recall him being nearly so silent in the Australian Outback and he was on a tribe with a bunch of loudmouths in Kimmi, Alicia and Varner. He was a clear defacto alpha male in that season and here he's practically a non-entity. He's the quiet old guy who gets hurt a lot whom we haven't heard from in a month. Might as well call him Bob Crowley (who incidentally taught physics to Probst's ex-squeeze, Julie).

Think Denise is pretty safe since there are likely 2 more eliminations until the merge and Kalabaw can take out the other young mactress and then the guy that might be a physical threat to win individual immunity. Denise, Jeff, and Penner are also all older so they should get along better.
For some reason, I really dig the idea of Calabaw going on a perpetual losing streak and Denise slipping through unscathed while participating in (and as of right now) casting votes for the person who gets their torch snuffed while attending each and every tribal council for the ENTIRE GAME. To borrow a word from next week's Survivor preview, that would indeed be "unprecedented". Nobody in Survivor history has attended every single tribal council in a season (besides Probst) let alone cast a majority vote in each one. That would build up quite a resume for Denise heading into a final tribal jury vote.

I love how Dawson says Jeff kent owes her a bike and stuff hah. She should of outted him much earlier, and like everyone else I thought she was going to blurt it out at the end out of spite.. The hug was nice though, I actually felt kinda bad.
Dawson's post-boot confessional was easily the best part of this episode. Hilarious! Sort of makes me wish she stuck around longer. (Or that Kent wins and she's able to relay her laundry list of demands at the finale reunion show.)

It sucks to see Dawson go because she's a great character. I really liked her trolling of Kent.

They've done final 3 for awhile now. My gut says they'll keep it up. Why change now?

Huh...I thought they'd last done it more recently than 2008, but apparently not. I guess Final 3 works a little better, since that means you can't just take the most disliked person to the final 2 (and looking at the results, the further into the series they got, the more people starting realizing you take the less-liked person rather than your friend/ally). I think I just like Final 2 for purely nostalgic reasons.

I think the final three messes with the edits too much, it's caused way more characters like Becky/Cassandra/Susie/etc. than we'd had when it was a final two. Then you needed to give both people strong edits, or at least decent airtime, so it wouldn't be obvious; the third place finisher also typically got a strong edit, and it normally wasn't until fourth or fifth place that you would find someone who wasn't a memorable character. Now you have players like Susie, who almost won, get nearly no airtime because creating three strong finalists from the edit isn't easy. I think it's led to the narrative getting a lot more simplified: just look at last season, where Sabrina clearly could have been a pretty big character (and was at the beginning and end of the season), but she got a pretty boring edit because Kim and Chelsea were the two big characters, and Kim had to be the acceptable winner.

Nah, Susie got a throwaway edit because she didn't win and was totally boring. As magical as the editors and show writers are, they couldn't turn a bumbling vagrant like her into a cunning near-victor.

Listened to a great interview with Russel Hantz during the week. He was his usual arrogant self, but admitted he fucked up by not grasping the social aspect of the game, and also said he'd only come back for an All-Stars season, among alot of other things.

He was nailing Mikaela too. Bastard.

that's crazy especially with his nephew brandon giving off the whole rapey vibe towards her.

I knowwww right!!! That's crazy. I thought Russell was married and stuff too, but I suppose a lot has happened since he was on survivor first. I don't really follow the players live outside the game, but I'm more interested now.

I think a final 2 is interesting when they just spring it on them because they're expecting a final 3. That hasn't happened since the season Parvati won though I think..

didn't they do a Final 2 because of an injury that season?

also Final 2>>>>>>>Final 3

With a a Final 3 there is ALWAYS the person in 3rd who gets zero votes and just sits there

Also Survivor needs to bring back final immunity endurance challenges

But China is one of the best seasons, and the final three is part of the reason!

I still prefer a final two

I think with a final 3, they expected a lot more finishes that were like Yul/Ozzy in Cook Islands, where the voters were voting between several viable candidates. But often enough it's just a repeat of what final 2s were, an obvious winner getting most of the votes. You just end up with two goats in the finals instead of one.

It's better than what happened in S6->S12, where you knew the outcome of every FTC (barring Rob/Amber) before it began.

Well, ok, Jenna/Matt too. In the post-All-Stars seasons though, it was clear that the jig was up re: F3 strategy.

I didn't like that they just split the remaining Matsing into existing tribes. I wanted to see 2 brand new tribes with a 3-3-1 split. It could have been an awesome episode with all sorts of jockeying around and strategizing. Hopefully this season picks up soon.

I suspect they intended to have a 3 way merge if possible.

I am still absolutely flabbergasted at the lack of Skupin air time. That entire segment focused on him, we got confessionals from Artis, Abi, RC, and Lisa...but absolutely NOTHING from Mike's point of view aside from his conversation with RC. His edit is extremely puzzling to me.

Intense challenge. Malcolm's a beast, he's gonna have a big ol' bullseye on his back when they merge.

Gonna be Katie or Carter tonight. Hopefully Carter, I like Katie as eye candy.
