Yeah the thing is that i didn't 'research' about the hardware at all i just looked at the previews of the games and when i first saw the UI i thought 'is the screen this low res?' (i put the vita aside during the intro video) but obviously my concerns faded away as soon as i played some VT4 which is easily the cleanest looking vita game to date.
I was also hoping they would do this. Watch them start offering the $50 gift card a week or two after release.
Black Friday will most assuredly offer some insane Vita deal. Maybe even a sub $200 price.

For a portable system without games, I would put forward that it's had the best first year ever for games of any portable system... period.

Maybe online, if Best Buy US ships to Canada. Depending on what I buy, the cost of shipping shrinks the savings pretty badly.

Vita had the first launch line-up ever in the gaming history. I'd include computers and home console here too. Some some home consoles had some really few awesome classic gems, but that's all. Vita had quality and quantity of great games at launch or really close to it (in addition to the typical garbage that every other system also had). And as a very secondary bonus you had there the PSP and Minis gems (and now PS1 too). Period.

Does PSN ever have sales around Black Friday or Cyber Monday? I'll have ACIII:L, Zero Escape and Persona 4 to keep me busy for a bit, but there are several digital games I want to purchase.
Hopefully there'll be some Cyber Monday deals on larger Vita memory cards, too.
Personally I don't think so. Put it this way. Vita is the only handheld I've ever bought in the first year. And while I do plan on getting a 3DS, there's not enough games to interest me as of right now
Problem is Vita doesn't look so hot in terms of future support and adoption rate.
They never really do Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales on PSN. The next major sale will probably be winter/Christmas related.
It's the same for me with the 3DS. Plus my sister has one, so I can just borrow hers when a game I want to play comes out. I'll likely purchase one sometime next year when Fire Emblem comes out.
That works for me. I'm in no rush for other games since I'll have P4 to hold me over for awhile. It'll give me more time to hopefully find a good deal on a 16 or 32GB memory card. Definitely can't bring myself to pay $100 for a 32GB card.

The 10/30 date is based on the only acknowledgement we've heard from Sega on the matter that JSR would be delayed "a couple of weeks".
A couple of weeks is 10/30. Could easily be delayed beyond that. Could easily come out next week. Could easily vanish into thin air. Who can say?

There is supposedly going to be a sale on 10/23 when the new PSN store goes up in NA. It won't be late enough to offer sales on the games you listed, but maybe there are games that are already on PSN that you want.

Also, PSABR on Vita is awesome and proves that there is plenty of power in there to execute good-looking, 60FPS games.

I keep repeating this thread after thread watching people lament how they run out of room on their memory cards. Spend the extra and get the bigger memory card. People are going to spend money on a smaller card now that could be money spent on the bigger card they want and will need instead of the stop gap. You don't have to spend $100 on a 32 GB card, nobody should. Amazon, even in Canadaland is usually around $80, you can be patient and keep refreshing waiting for a warehouse deal to get it cheaper, have seen them very good on warehouse deals for around $55. Even at 16GB I was maxed day one because of my already big PSP collection.
Thats why I could never get the people saying "These bundles better have 4GB stick or no deal" 4GB is a throwaway, I have one laying around somewhere here, probably lost I don't care, can maybe get $3 at gamestop for it. As long as its free whatever but people need to upgrade to get their fullest potential out of the Vita. Heck even youtube uses it to buffer HD video.
I've played PSABR beta on vita and I feel i'm in agreement with Colin from IGN. The characters are really really small. It looks damn good, but I could not keep track where my character was. I was better off pretending the 1p, 2p,3p and 4p icons were the characters. There was no way I could tell what moves they were doing and it quickly degraded into button mashing hoping I was hitting something.
I definitely intend to get the 32GB, but as of right now I am in no rush. The three games I have to play when I get the Vita are all physical copies, so the 4GB bundled with the ACIII:L Vita will suffice for now.
When I am ready to purchase and play some digital content, I'll upgrade to the 32GB regardless. I'll just hopefully find a good deal between now and then. If I ever see it at $60 or less, I'd snatch it up right away.

It's PSP, and I think the only way to get it is PS3 to PSP.
It's bloody awesome - it's a set of Activision's Atari 2600 games with a fair bit of replay value, with unlockable badges (think achievements) and commercials, with a kickin 80s soundtrack in the background (including motherfucking Safety Dance!)

The only thing I want is a couple of non-Activison games (the main ones being Adventure, Bezerk, Combat, Missile Command, DragonStomper and Space Invaders) but other than that the collection is just awesome.
