Vita PSN Game And Service Thread

played some killzone liberation last night.

Pretty cool game. Good mix of action and tactics. some of the controls are a little bid fiddly but I got used to them after a bit.

Its also not insultingly easy which is nice. Actually have to use some tactics to not get killed.

Is there an online mode on it? I can only see AD-HOC?

Alright guys here's what I was thinking -

Basically it would be a list if released games with the following info for each one-

Title
Release date
Genre
Critic average score
GAF average score
OT if avaliable
Screens

Damn, Gods Eater Burst is fucking hard. Not as bad as MHFU but still really hard. Can I do adhoc online with GEB? I might play with some VitaGaffers if I can.

Once you get the hang of it its not that hard. At first its really tempting to just run at the Arigami and just beat it until it hits back.

Read their patterns so you know when and what attacks then will do and just rush in, hit a few times and dash back. Also build bullets of each element.

My first set were bullets that used the shot that just hovers in place and faces the enemy. That then shoots out 4 lasers in the direction its fact (basically auto tagets the enemy)

When I realised just how much damage I could do with canons I changed it to the same shot that faces the enemy which fires a normal shot when then that explodes with a crushing bomb shot on impact with the enemy. Can do pretty massive damage with it and the right gun (hint** buglegun **hint*hint**)

So basically rush in when its finished attacking, hit it a few times (try targeting breakable parts for extra damage later and bonus goodies on lvl completion) rush back out again. once OP has built up let rip with your guns homing bullets.

When I first played the game it was taking like 20 mins to kill the first big arigami. When I went back when I knew what I was doing it was taking like 5 mins lol.

Cant wait for GE2.

Sounds good to me

...always kills me when people say shit like this, as if Golden Abyss didn't set the bar for graphics and production values in handheld gaming ridiculously high.

It really didn't though. It looked nice enough, but let's not pretend it didn't look like ye olde handheld game

Anyone following the EU PSN, I'm in a precarious financial situation right now but I really need something I can listen to podcasts to and play at the same time. My preference would be for tactical games (Tactics Ogre, FFT), but balking at prices right now.

What's worth it?

I listened to podcasts during most of Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. The old Persona games (or any other dungeon crawler) are also good alternatives. I think the first one has dropped quite a lot in price.

Good idea, but personally i don't care about averages, imo most of the critics' averages are unreliable, and gaf average score would need lots of efforts and scores to be reliable.
Every game should have the same number of screens at native resolution.

Fair enough. If we follow the way the 3DS thread works I could simply use + or - instead of a whole 5 point scale thing. Then simply say oh it has such and such + and such and such -

For reference - pretty much the same as this - http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=496218

People don't have interest in critic reviews then? Just gaffers?

I've always preferred recommendations from people who I know have a similar taste in game to myself (ie. friends and family) than some review, no matter how eloquently put. When I've asked a human being the have never said 'yeah you show get this its 94%'. Percentage of what? The tried and tested hit, miss or maybe pretty much covers what I what to know or in the context of games rate, hate or rent.

Sounds good.

Right I'll get the thread set up and post the link here. Give me like 40 minutes :)

Disappointmenton, remember sega's demon tribe, the downloadable game rumored to be for vita and wiiu? It's for ios :(

Holy shit, Justice in Sound Shapes? That's amazing.

And yes, there is a Sound Shapes OT somewhere, in the community section iirc. I'm on my phone now so I don't feel like linking it : >

I found it - posted the news - thread instantly gets buried again :/

Since I'm only answering your question now -
http://www.reddit.com/r/vita/comments/11phzo/upcoming_sound_shapes_dlc_justice/

Justice making DLC for sound shapes

I don't think that's thread worthy though. Is there a sound shapes OT?

Edit: finally found the OT

wait wat

holy shit

TAKE ALL MY MONEY

I got sick of waiting, so I will create an OT for TOM Blitz (AKA, best vita game). If anyone wants to make a quick and simple banner, send a PM please. See you there.

PS - On second thought, maybe no.

LMFAO what is the source of that gif? So good.

So, to clarify, I can post about games I have, am playing, or am thinking of getting/playing? I can't post news about individual games here, that has to go into a new thread or the OT of the game?

Basically. And you can't ask hardware questions, you have to ask that in the hardware thread.

So many great games coming for Vita in the next six weeks! and I expect to be buying a lot of them... I think the backlog will keep me busy well into the new year...

Anyway, I want to give a shout out for Legends of War: Patton - I'm afraid it will get completely overlooked in the flood of top tier titles that are releasing around it, but it's definitely worth checking out if you are at all interested in WWII and/or tactical war games. It's a squad level, turn-based tactical war game similar to Microsoft's Close Combat series or Pathway to Glory on the N-Gage. It has some RPG-like elements in that your soldiers are fairly customizable and have stats that improve so their performance improves with experience, but it's all very "real world" so you can't breed a "super soldier" and just smoke the game... Anyway, I played the PSP version of this game for many hours and when I heard they were upgrading it for release on Vita (presumable with touch screen control, which will significantly improve squad control) I was very pleased. I'll be picking it up Day One for sure. If you like WWII tactical war games, I can't recommend this enough.

Too much work. And I was debating for a long time to take some vacation from GAF. And now with the end of the Vita topic, it make my decision so much easier.

Just to finalize, for the people that asked me before: Purple and Green totems, extend score frenzy and extra crystals. Do not use dynamite or lightning.

But I got my high score (6.5m) using nothing but dynamite and lighting :O

Why are people still on board for LEGO LOTR Vita? Since the console versions were delayed, isn't it likely that the Vita version is a port of the 3DS version?

Which games are you looking to purchase GAF?
Will you be going all digital and filling up your 32GB cards? Or picking any of these bad boys up in retail and just accessing the PSN Store for DLC, patches and updates?

* Gonna wait for the EU version of these. If Ragnarok odyssey hasn't been announced by the time I finish Golden, I'll just import it
