How much of the story references the Kotor games? If its very little, then I'll try it out again. I just want to play a Star Wars MMO and run around on Tatooine or Coruscant. I missed out on Galaxies.
I'll second this. Also, GW2 and an outstanding backlog. I still have two CD keys for Rift that are unused...Will wait for it to go Pay2Play. As in, they pay me to play it.
Played this game for a month when it first came out.
Reminded me of a Facebook/Zynga game.
seem to say you can get sprint at lvl 1 instead of the usual 10 or 15 or whatever it isNo, it's actually true. You need to buy something in order to unlock the sprint ability.

it says you can get loot from 3 per week, not that you can only run 3 per weekOnly 3 flashpoints per week is kind of ridiculous though.

TOR is like Farmville? Can you expand on that?
Vacuous, soulless pap that leaves you feeling in need of a post rape shower afterwards?
You don't get the ability to sprint until later levels even before F2P...
...which doesn't make it any less stupid.

Oh, really?
Sprint is toggled starting ability available to all classes. It allows characters to increase their movement speed by 35% while out of combat.
[edit]Patches
Patch 1.2.0 (12 Apr 2012): Now available at level 1.
Previously 14.
Yes you can. All the story content from 1 - 50 is free. Can I play all the story related stuff?
If I can, i'll probably play through that when I'm not playing guild wars.
aaaahh, okit says you can get loot from 3 per week, not that you can only run 3 per week
It's a free goddamn RPG with quality writing, an awesome universe, and fun dialogue. It's literally the second best MMO...sorry GW2.
Seriously, this is going to be a fucking steal.
GW2 has some of the worst writing in this genre.
Agreed. GW2's dialog is absolutely embarrassing to hear/read.
It's free! But...

Only played a few classes up to the 20s and my highest is in the 50s in GW2, but I couldn't agree more. Not only is the story completely uninteresting, but the voice acting is just awful. Such snooze-worthy stuff.
With that said, I think it's laughable to call TOR the second best MMORPG. It's shit at everything but somewhat interesting cutscenes. Oh, and the sound effects are cool, too, because Star Wars.
completely agree. Even an ancient game like LOTRO massacres SWTOR with ease and honestly, I think people citing WoW are being unfair to that game
LOTRO? Please explain how it 'massacres swtor with ease and honesty'. Because imo the only thing that game has going for it is the world but unlike SWTOR, they did not create entire storylines, factions and the like because it takes place in a totally uncovered period in SW lore.
LOTRO has some of the worst animations, UI, weapons/armour aesthetics I've seen in a MMO.

personally, I think LOTRO is beautiful looking; sure, it looks a bit dated now but if you ask me if I prefer spending time in The Shire or strolling around super lifeless Hoth I say the first. Every single location in LOTRO is beautiful. Another terrible mistake was making gigantic environments but with little life in it. There are more dwarves in the 21st Hall than aliens in Voss. Noone ever talks in SWTOR, while you hear constant chatting from NPCS in LOTRO, which helps the immersion a great deal. Levelling is all over the place in SWTOR, because of bonus quests: you quickly overlevel entire planets. When I played it, there was no fast travel. LOTRO has it and it's tons better. Crafting is a complete joke in SWTOR...it's completely nonexistant. LOTRO has one and its very good. The GTN is horrible, filters don't work at all and it needs more kiosks. Coruscant? Give me a break, put one in every goddamned city. Flawless since day one in LOTRO, and you can bid in there. HUGE variety in cosmetic armor, music system, housing, holiday events, end game content...not even comparable to SWTOR. IMO of course
Everyone's got an opinion, I guess.
TOR has the worst art direction in an MMORPG I've seen since the original EQ2 clay-face models. The whole game just looks bad.
LOTRO is a lot more fun to play, in my opinion. Sure it doesn't have the TOR story stuff going for it, but that's really all TOR has. It doesn't belong in the MMORPG genre.

Of course everyone's got an opinion which is why I asked him to expand upon it. Also those 'not a mmo' comments are laughable at best. Operations? Quests that require groups to complete? Flashpoints?
