Wrong again.

Why don't you go ly dow. Take a break. The fortress is fortified, soldier.

I know many, many people who just don't want a bigass tablet. They are 7" tablet buyers and that is their preferred size. It's like saying 13" laptop buyers really want 15" laptops, but are too poor/cheap to buy one. While its true that smaller ones are a little less, they are also more versatile and convenient. It has it's own market, and this will attract many of those buyers.

You're trying much too hard. While it's funny as shit to read, I'm assuming you're not posting for our entertainment. Have a coke and a smile.

I... think it's you who's too invested in this.

It's like I'm in a PopGAF thread bashing Beyonce or something. :lol

To the iPad 2...processor wasn't powerful enough to push that retina display. iPad 2 users claim they notice significant lag between the devices.
Yes indeed, I was one who voiced that opinion as soon as I got mine out of the box. But in everyday situations, it hasn't caused a problem. The only thing that did make a difference was the increased RAM, that allowed more tabs to be open during browsing.

I would say the only step backwards was the weight, and that's something that they haven't improved with this refresh. So there's really no big deal here.

I CARE LESS THAN YOU.

I don't understand the appeal of the iMac at all. It has the power of a laptop for the same price as a gaming PC. If I didn't need a PC for gaming I would just have a laptop and that is it.

IPad mini is overpriced (299/399/499 would have made sense)

Makes sense if you need compact and light, but for me at least I use my iPad at home or I have a backpack that can take a full sized one, and I'd rather have the larger screen)

With the 4th gen refresh, I wonder if apple are resetting the clock on iPads to make them Q4 products? Seems odd otherwise, what do they have up their sleeves for spring next year? a15?

It's better than a gaming PC because it doesnt have one of those useless optical drives that apparently people never use anymore. And it's thinner and lighter so you can carry it around your house when you go to the bathroom.

No problems here, brah.

Of course with twice the processing power, the 4 will be snappier. Though I can't say snap was a problem.

I love my iPad 3 for what I use it for, but having owned a 2, I can definitely say its not as nice a performer when the screen is taken advantaged of. it's thicker, heavier, and if you want to use it with a moderate amount of light output, is usually a lot warmer (while murdering battery life). Oh, and it takes ages to recharge.

Hell, just off the top of my head, the Netflix app is chugaliscious and the fps drops to ludicrously low numbers when rotating.

Yeah its not an apple app, but making that argument is incredibly disingenuous when talking about a platform that lives and dies on its third party apps.

I might be speaking for some of the upset iPad 3 owners who feel they bought their product with the idea it would be "new" for a year like the previous iPads. I'm sure many would wait if they knew a refresh was coming so soon.

Air with Retina.

I think you're both right.
No, I'm right. His argument is that NOBODY looking to buy a 7" tablet is doing it because they like the form factor.

My argument is that many do buy a 7" because they in fact DO want that form factor. I'm sure many buy because of the price, and my argument makes room for them too. His is a hyperbolic, absolute and unreasonable argument; mine is not. Not everyone buying a 7" tablet is buying because it's cheap. Period.

I love my iPad for what I use it for, but having owned a 2, I can definitely say its not as nice a performer as the 3 when the screen is taken advantaged of. it's sicker, heavier, and if you want to use it with a moderate amount of light output, is usually a lot warmer (while murdering battery life). I see. Having upgraded 1-->3, I haven't had any such issues.

No comment on rotating in Netflix; I don't rotate in Netflix. If Netflix rotating is the only issue you find worth bringing up, I'm going to suggest all is well.

Well, you could still hold it with one hand either by holding one of the ends, or on top of your palm.

Unless you're referring to something else that I missed.

Apple sold the whole Mini on an iPad you can place your hand around in vertical; then focused on horizontal features.

So i'm going to be looking to get a mac for programming some side projects at home. What do you guys think would be the best setup? a new mac mini with 2 monitors, a new 27 inch iMac with a 27 inch secondary monitor, or an old 27 inch iMac? How much are the last generation iMacs usually priced at after these are released?

This was brought up by apple themselves in internal emails.

One of the interesting tidbits of Forstall’s testimony was a reference to an internal email sent by Eddy Cue, who’s also a Senior Vice President of Apple’s, dealing with Internet Services and Software, back in 2011 and referring to the iPad mini – although that product name is not mentioned in the email.

Now we have the actual screenshot of that email, via CNET, that was sent by Cue to Shiller, Forstall, but also to Tim Cook, who wasn’t CEO at the time of that email – 24 January 2011.

Here’s what the email reads:

Having used a Samsung Galaxy, I tend to agree with many of the comments below [after the email a link to a GigaOM post is provided] (except moving off the iPad). I believe there will be a 7″ market and we should do one. I expressed this to Steve several times since Thanksgiving and he seemed very receptive the last time. I found email, books, facebook and video very compelling on a 7″. Web browsing is definitely the weakest point, but still usable.

dat ipad mini brought to you by samsung.

Because it's a really nice package that isn't an ugly tower and has a much bigger screen than a laptop does. Most casual users, like my fiancé or parents, don't want to have a laptop running clam shell plugged into a monitor. It's a computer. It sits on the desk and does everything they need with a big ass screen.

The iMacs are usually fairly priced (back then at least). I actually did the math and to get a 27" IPS panel and the same specs on a PC comes out to about the same price. Maybe a $50-100 difference. Not to mention the iMac is sexy as hell and there isn't a giant tower to put anywhere.

I got to say, that announcing new products in all their lineups (except Mac Pro of course) just before the holiday season makes a lot of sense.

It's so hilarious that iPad 3 got shot out in the woods by Apple, and iPad 2 lives on.

But who didn't see it coming?

iPad 2 was a clear step up from iPad in terms of performance. I mean unarguably iPad 1 was pretty crappy in terms of responsiveness and how it was sluggish overall. iPad2 completely remedied that.

I felt the iPad3...err third gen iPad was like in between iPad 1 and iPad 2 performance wise due to that much higher resolution. The iPad4 is to the iPad 3 as the iPad 2 was to the iPad1.
