Nice.....so my iPad is obsolete within a few months.
who are they keeping up with? they seem to be in the pole position.

...really disappointed at the 13" retina. That pricing for what you get is mind boggling

Apple's release schedule for tablets/phones has so far guaranteed that you would have a whole year of being owning the best product out there, and at least two years of being close. I think that people underestimate how important that is.
I'm actually pretty certain there's going to be an iPad 4 next year. That said, I wonder if this New iPad spec bump is going to be a trend from now on or just a one-time thing to counter Microsoft's and Google's launches this year.

Obsolete as in it still works perfectly fine?
Pretty much what I said earlier. You buy one with the idea it will be the latest tech for a year. I feel like a chump now.
If the technology is ready, then it's ready.
Why should they wait 5 months?
I truly don't get reasoning like this. Do you only own an iPad so people can fawn over it because it's the latest model?
As far as I know it is still the exact same device it was this morning and there's no indication that software support is going to be dropping in any way.
Someone explain to me the iPad3 obsolete comments? What happened..

Fuck...My iPad just stopped working today around 2:00 EST. When I tried to turn it back on it just flashed: OBSOLETE. MUST UPGRADE.
What a waste of money.
Why drop your junk into the 7ish inch market except for competitive pressure?
So how come no one is dicussing the fact that everyone was expecting the next ipad to be 16:9 ratio?
I thought that was the route they will be taking now, no?
I know this is a joke but can people even notice which version it is? Isn't this a iPhone 4 to 4S situation looks-wise? Anyone worried about having the latest one can just pretend it's the new model, it will be alright.Hard to look down at people when you are sporting last years (months lol) model purse (iPad).
Nobody expected that thoughSo how come no one is dicussing the fact that everyone was expecting the next ipad to be 16:9 ratio?

I just checked Amazon.... iPad 3 64GB LTE trade-in value is $660 like-new, not bad at all. Gotta be careful with the highest end iPad models, because the storage and cellular radio become irrelevant if paired to an outdated device. So I'm going to trade it in and get the 4th gen for that reason, minor hit.

that appears to be what's happening, but we can't say definitively because...what do we know? It'd be nice if they put them on the same cycle, because it would synchronize them with their SoC updates. If iPad 4 is Apple switching the lifecyle of ipad to Q4, then I might be tempted to grab a 4th gen - hand down my 3rd gen to my kids and their iPad2 to my parents for Christmas
where is the trade-in section of their site? I'd like to find out what mine is worth.
Nobody expected that though

Whatever comes out next year will be the fifth gen.

The original iPhone got a capacity bump after a few months IIRC.Exactly, it's shit. I bought at launch and you expect at least a year of having the "latest and greatest". When was the last time apple refreshed a phone/tablet within a year?

Honestly, I'd say skip the 4 and grab a refurb 3. $379 is insane (http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/ipad/ipad3/wi_fi). It's a shame the UK discount is only 10% else I'd be buying a refurb ipad 3 right now.
