The Giant Bomb Quick Look Thread 2

Patrick in particular seemed to go into the QL with an agenda that he was not going to like the game no matter what.

I'd hardly call that an agenda. An expectation that it would be a standard, overdone, heavily scripted military FPS? Of course. And he was correct, but I don't see where this supposed agenda came in.

"I was just gonna say, this is gonna end up in a firefight"

How, Brad? That guy on the train just BLEW HIMSELF UP. Also, the Ranger-dude didn't carry a weapon. He's in Spain, not in America where he's allowed to carry a handgun around in the streets. Open your eyes man.

Serious questions. Why is someone part of a Quicklook who has no real interest in the genre and/or franchise?
The thing is GB does things different.
They cover what they want to cover, or what they think their audience wants to see.

And if they must cover something that no one on the team is interested in at least you know that and its not a fake lie/opinion just for clicks.

If you do not like their tone/opinion there are million other video game websites out there.

No thank you, I am a longtime GB fan, if you did not notice, and I am maybe more generous than most people here towards them. But just being there for the sake of being negative all the time is tiresome.

True but what do you want from them?
Lie?
Be enthusiastic about a games that they really are not?

At least know you know who they feel about MoH
Its boring and run of the mill.

I don't really see it as negative for the sake of being negative. it's another god-damn war shooter. That pretty much invites negativity.

I wish they would quick look less popular games. They always go for the bestsellers:

Of course I would not want that, and they would never do that. I am probably more negative towards this whole genre than them, but I just think there would be better games they could spent almost 2 hours on, especially three of them.

Hahaha- I loved the random grenade indicator popping up during the sensitive and emotional CGI cutscene.

Their commentary is enough to not make me sleep over the boring game. I've mentioned this elsewhere, but MoH has become the CNN of military shooters. Trying to be the CoD rollercoaster but also having some "authenticity" with in the end being just a forgettable campaign with not much spectacle.

They are a video game website, not a reality show. They have to cover the big games to generate traffic.

Genericness aside, MoH is a pretty high profile game though. Has there ever been a high profile game which they didn't cover? Especially the ones where most of them are absolutely apathetic about? You see the same complaints whenever they do a MMO quick look.

It's as close to a COD game as you can get without it being a COD game. In a year where Treyarch is doing its best to try to shake off COD fatigue, you cant come out with what is essentially a COD game from 3 years ago and not expect to draw some criticism.

I want thirty seconds to pass without having to hear "Hey this is a scripted event uurrrggghhhh SIGH," that's all.

In vaguely related news, Binary Domain is surprisingly rad. Well, not surprisingly, but it's way better than I expected.

I wish it had 360 buttons when it detected a controller on PC, though.

It does, you just have to turn them on in the external launcher where you set all the graphical options. It's just a checkbox you have to tick, if I remember correctly. It's weird that it doesn't just do it automatically, but it's a pretty nice PC port otherwise.

If you talk about me, no. I am not complaining about covering it. I just think being there for 2 hours, and being already bummed out about the game and genre does not help anyone.

How is that different from a Jeff QL where he can be more negative throughout? Do you watch those too?

So, going through the MoH quick look for the first time.

Is the first sniping sequence the sniping sequence people were bitching to brad about? Jesus, that's an over-reaction if I ever saw one. He did ok especially for someone who's probably not used to bullet drop. Took me a long time to get used to it in battlefield 3.

Is "plain pizza" vs "cheese pizza" an actual colloquial distinction? I heard Patrick say "cheese pizza" as a substitute for plain pizza, which I had never heard before. I googled it and it seems like there is some regionalism there.

When you live in certain parts of the globe where not every pizza has cheese in it, yes, Mozzarella Pizza is a thing. "Chesse Pizza" is usually understood as Mozzarella Cheese, because there are about 5 different types of cheese that people put in pizza down here, even at the same time.

The concept of "plain" pizza escapes me, because the only thing that all pizzas have in common is the dough, so a plain pizza would be a pizza without any toppings at all.

If you think something without sauce and cheese can be classified as a pizza, I feel sorry for you.

"Cheese pizza" and "plain pizza" have effectively the same meaning for me.
