First Hitman: Absolution reviews hit

Don't know why I would do something like that. I read about something sucking and usually people are right or close enough to right and then I can back it up after I get my hands on it. If it seems like I do that every time then blame these shitty modern day developers/publishers who are so desperate to dumb everything down.

I'm thinking I might redbox this but I've never used one of those before, nor am I 100% sure there's a kiosk in my area. The review said it was only 11 hours long so I could knock that out in a couple of days.

You didn't read properly. He rushed the final levels.

IOI stated themselves that the game will take between 15-20 hours.

Also, Hitman games are not meant to speed run.

Go over to that thread with the free Redbox codes. Plus you can look up Redbox locations on their website.

I apparently have 2 in my area. Wonder why I never saw any before.

It doesn't matter much either way, I wasn't complaining about it being short. I can still do 20 hours in 2 or 3 days if it's not a boring game.

I just can't trust these magazine reviews after they all gave Resident Evil 6 9s.

I did pre-order the game though since it was thirty bucks and the contracts thingy looks pretty neat.

Hopefully this is the norm and they can bring this sort of polish to the 3rd Kane and Lynch game.
As much hate as K&L1 and 2 get i enjoyed both. Especially enjoyed K&L2.

I really hope we get a polished K&L game one day because it has so much potential.

Frisian_Boy, before you call the policy "harsher than some of the users", I should tell you that it's not allowed because it's copyrighted material. They make their revenue from people purchasing magazines. Internet's one of the reason why loads of gaming magazines have died; posting scans will sure kill them further if everyone was doing it.

No, we are not harsh but we are humans and can, at times, be a bit rude when annoyed. You didn't annoy, and we are just warning you before you do so. No need to be sorry as you were not aware. We enjoy your enthusiasm and we hope you get some great, quality posts from us and we hope you do amazing.

Welcome to NeoGAF. Enjoy your stay and please, read the FAQ and please tell Hitman Forum we welcome you with open arms! :)
Awww, I'd hug you so hard right now, I don't even care I'm heterosexual. That was beautiful.

Is making jokes also against the rules?

;)

It was quite a bad one as well. I should be banned immediately.
C'mon dude, don't force it. Or as NotTheGuyYouKill said, do it with a bang.

You took one sentence out and enlarged it as if it was a negative preview. How many previews did you read? Most of them (if not all of them) have been optimistic. People who played the game were optimistic. Sure, some changes have been made. But did you notice that not a single person mentions these 'shortcomings'?

It won't be a perfect game, but everything that needed fixing has been fixed, most notably the AI. And the Glacier 2 engine is beautiful.

Definitely rent it and give it a shot at least. May as well try it.

Also: you can finish every level Suit Only and Silent Assassin. It is hard, but possible.

Also, Purist mode will be difficult as hell.

Sorry for my fanboy-ism. It's just that IO has a strong connection with the forum and answers our questions quickly.

Find out what's up with Kane & Lynch 3. The first two were heavily flawed, but diamonds in the rough.

And yeah, HF's a good place to drop by to find all the latest information as sometimes Absolution gets overlooked for some of the bigger releases here.

How many people actually read the Official Playstation and Xbox magazines? They're such obvious shills and I can't imagine there to be any good or interesting journalism to them

I don't trust anyone else but RPS when it comes to PC gaming and PC franchises, which Hitman is. Console places tend to not understand what really makes these games special and I don't mean that in an inflammatory way. It's just a simple fact. So if RPS is torn on the game and lists why I'm inclined to believe them, they don't BS and usually get this stuff right.

Let's hope this game has a mission as good as 'A New Life' from Blood Money. One of my favourite missions/levels in any game ever.

I'm going to make so many suit-only Contracts. That mode is going to get the shit played out of it.

The story sounds really good. If this review is accurate, I'm happy they pulled it off.

Comparing 47 to a Velociraptor is hilarious. That whole level just sounds like it'll be fantastic.

Hugs are amazing, bro! I give it to my buddies all the time! :D

*hugs*

Got some Arabic friends. At times, I give kisses on the cheek as well. Diverse Toronto is diverse! :P
But I give kisses on the cheek to every person I know! That's the usual thing here, it's only kinda weird with strangers (sometimes a handshake is better).

Do you need to have Steam friends with the game to be able to play that mode, or can you do it with strangers?
Anyway, I wouldn't mind if the people who are going to play it added me. My Steam ID is my GAF username, that's how original I am :P

Then I'm hope you are glad that IO has a dedicated team working on the PC version.

You might want to watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQ4qZUtVQuE

But what that person stated was wrong: you are not forced into gunfights as long as you act stealthily. As I said: SA is possible on EVERY level.

Blood Money was great, but not quite as perfect as people make it out to be. AI was hilariously stupid, for one thing. 2 had psychic guards, but they were pushovers here. Ragdolls sucked, gun customization was limited to five guns. Still loved it, can't wait for Absolution. My only gripes are the checkpoint system, magic pockets, and the possibility of some forced action segments.

Yeah, if RPS says something that feeds into my doubts about this game and my expectations that it's going to be dumbed down. I'll take it for credit.

The comment about SWEETASS COVER SHOOTIN' being "the only favorable option" in some areas means to me that it'll be like in Conviction, where they've obviously designed some stages to be a terrible shooter and if you try being stealthy it'll be a fucking mess.

Except you never will have to shoot at anyone that isn't your target unless you want to, so they're wrong.

Reviews are nice, but this is one game where I'm definitely going to wait for the GAF impressions before I even think about buying it. I love Hitman, so I want this to be like the previous ones, but I'm not going to take the leap until I get confirmation it's actually a Hitman game and not what excited gaming websites during the big gaming seasons are calling a Hitman game.

They reviewed Dishonored as the second coming so I am not particular sure how RPS is anymore worthy than any of the other sites.

I read the OPM review and it said the checkpoints are manually activated so it's your call on when(and if) to use it...not sure how that would be different from the old save system, though.

Also the pictures are nuts, levels look amazing.

Didn't had time to read it yesterday but this sounds great!

Yeah, the new screens are fucking amazing.
Samurai vs S.W.A.T. Team wuuut

You still gotta get your suit back before you leave, right
Depends on the Contract people will make. For story mode only? no... only if you want a better rating but it's not a must i think.

It was never a must unless you went for Silent Assassin, which I doubt they changed. IIRC it only impacted rating on expert and pro but always had a money penalty.

from Hitman forums Thug

So this is from another Xbox forum, where a guy claims to have the copy of the magazine with the review with him. This is what he shares:

"I've got the issue in my hands actually. I'm not gonna type a lot of it but here's the points at the end:

(+ = postive, - = negative)
+Agent 47 has never felt so deadly
+brilliantly varied and fun campaign
+action bits are unexpectedly ace
+contracts mode will please fans
-pacing sags slightly in the middle

"Everything that fans have ever loved about the series is still present... everything about the world revolves around enterntaining you, whether it's the wide scope of murder-options or the amazing dialogue in between. Whatever kind of killer you decide you want to be, Absolution is a unmissable hit"

This is gonna be my first Hitman game, I was Intigued by the series, but didn't really do much gaming last gen, so I was just gonna wait for a HD one, and it seems like it was worth the wait.

After reading that review, dam it does sounds incredible. But the whole Lost world description sounds awesome but it's not Hitman if you get me.

Replaying Blood Money on PC feels like such a wonderful nostalgic trip. Some of the assassination set ups are truly brilliant. I'm excited for Absolution!
