College Football Week 9 - You've Got the Touch

It has no business being in the Pac-12, it is impossible for Cal to compete.

There was actually a student movement to have us move to I-AA, back in the late 90s and early 2000s, peaking in 2001 where we went 1-10 with our only win against Rugters. That was their argument, that it was impossible for Cal to compete and it was just a pointless distraction from academics and protests.

These are the same people who flip out about spending money on upgrading the stadium.

2001 was also a low light for Rutgers. That was the peak for the Rutgers 1000.

The new movement has no interest in moving from D1A athletics, they are, however, very interested in curbing athletic spending.

I also disagree with the new movement.

Doesn't Rutgers have like 50 NCAA sports?

Don't do it. The texture is too awful to get past.

Quick, someone take his gun rack out of his truck. He's not southern.

Also, you've had shitty boiled peanuts from Bubba that have been overcooked. They're not supposed to be overly soggy. They're supposed to be tender, that's it. Those roadside places are hit or miss. Lot of times they just boil them all day and they'll add in peanuts throughout the day so some are soggy as heck, and others are still crunchy.

I guess Georgia knows peanuts better than Alabama.

Yeah, something like that.

And most of them are pretty terrible now. Except for quite a few women's sports.

Club sports at D1 schools are considered D3 sports.

This man knows what is up. I love roadside stops on the way to the game though. It's the one thing I miss about the time we lived in Jax. Not exactly any peanut stops on 75.

I wonder which one of those interviewed was dammitmatt.

Oh I always stop at at least one on my way back from Georgia. But like I said, they're hit or miss. But for me, even the misses are pretty good. I'll let you guys know how this batch comes out. I'm doing them in a crockpot as I've got a recipe for that and it seems like it may be less hands on. Boiling them on the stove tends to lead to adding water every 30-45 minutes.

Peanuts and football just go together for me. My grandfather would always buy a bag of roasted peanuts for me at games when I was a kid. Also, those nasty hotdogs they have in stadiums always taste great for some reason.

Yay, I can't wait for 3+ months of David Cutcliffe to UT part 2!

Imagining he did leave, I wonder who we would hire

Chalk that up for one thing we do better than Bama.

Was going to say, last time I've had boiled peanuts was when I lived in Georgia. In Fact, don't think I've had them anywhere but there, and in Florida (those small towns in the panhandle on the way to Panama City, I remember them being flooded with street side farmer's market-type deals, including Boiled Peanuts)

Never had Alabama-Based BP, so I can't make comparisons.

By the way, grits fucking suck, too.

Grits aren't about the taste of them by themselves because they don't have much of one. It's about adding about a cup of butter and a large amount of salt and pepper. They're pretty godlike with cheese as well.

What in the hell makes you think that Miss State is going to beat Bama? I mean, it'd be hilarious, but I just don't see it.

John Gruden to Tennesee would be great.

Both Bama and Miss State are 7-0, MSU is under the radar, they both haven't gotten into the gauntlet of their schedules yet, it's a trap for Bama while they worry about LSU. It'd make for a nice story, and my Gatas can vault to #1 in the country.

Quick, Cyan, turn off the Gata signal. I can't take this shit anymore.

Disgusting no matter what you do to them, and I've tried just about all of the combinations.

Sorry, it's all up to you guys. I just want to wish you good luck. We're all counting on you.

Speaking of lifers, what happened to that ND guy? They haven't even lost yet!

Wasn't he walking from South Bend to Norman?

Well, if you don't like them like that then there's no hope for you. I guess you don't like them mixed with some eggs over easy? That's pretty good. I like to douse all that shit in hot sauce too.

I don't know if they can take the pressure. Though UGA does play better as underdogs. As soon as they start to think they're good is when the wheels fall off.

The one who talked about how we were all jealous of ND.

To be fair the only reason why you don't think that ND is awesome is because you are ignorant. Someone with all of the facts wouldn't be able to NOT be a Notre Dame fan.

To continue my descent into abject homerism:

My sign suggestion for College Gameday:

"Talking to Manti Te'o made me a better person." -Tim Tebow

Two can play at this.

LOL! I actually went to the Florida/Georgia game last year, but I bought my tickets online and they happened to be in the Georgia section. And, even though the good guys lost, still had fun and the UGA fans we were around were classy. So good luck, you'll need it.
Georgia is still Gator Bait.

Tebow is a better linebacker though.

Tebow is a better linebacker though.

Te'o is Hawaiian, though, which means he has a genetic basis for good defensive play. Tim Tebow is white and not even Polish which means his predisposition for defense is very low. If he was Tim Tebowski from Pennsylvania we would have a different story.

Tebow should have been moved to tight end when his coaches realized he can't throw the ball.

I think Georgia fans are actually pretty respectable to other fans. There's always one guy in a section that is a combination of extremely drunk and aggressive, but you'll usually see other fans around them trying to calm them down. Most Georgia fans are pretty pessimistic, unless they're students who don't know how they're supposed to act yet. Hopefully it's a good game, I hope the wind and rain isn't too bad from Hurricane Sandy. Neither would favor our pass heavy offense.

Students at any school can be pretty rowdy, thankfully I wasn't in the student section. Speaking of pessimistic Georgia fans, during the game last year, Georgia was on offense, so I was shouting to make noise to aid the Gator D. The very cool, and also likely drunk, woman who was sitting in front of me turned around and said "You don't have to yell, my team can lose without your help!" I LOL'ed.
