I got grudge sucked!
Not as painful as watching your team squander a 14 point lead to a team with 4 freshmen on their offensive line and a quarterback with a broken leg.

Suck it, Notre Dame.

Not as painful as...well Duke football usually is.

I take personal shame that we lost to them in 07. Sure we sucked, but that salad tosser Jimmy Clausen didn't deserve to win. He was the football version of Greg Paulus.

Either I made up lies about the Boston Bomber or I fell for someone else's crap. Either way, I have absolutely no credibility and you should never pay any attention to anything I say, no matter what the context. Perm me if I claim to be an insider
So H3xum made is 30 minutes before he ran away, when nobody was even giving him a hard time yet, but simply explained what a fairweather fan was?

That is the most pathetic thing I have ever seen. Glad he was a ND fan!

The funny thing is that CFBGAF is the most welcoming sports community on here. We just have our inside jokes that new people don't get for a while, and we give each other heck constantly. But, that's part of the fun of it.

The big piece that ND is missing that ND doesn't have access to is recruits. ND definitely gets good recruits because of their name, but they're not getting the caliber of recruits that Alabama can because the academic standards at ND are a lot more strenuous. And, those recruits don't want to play in the cold. They'll get a few every year, but it'd take a big name coach to bring enough recruits there to really return ND to where they used to be. A big name coach that could draw in those recruits despite the negatives.

Also, a piece most of us don't want to acknowledge is that ND plays a tough schedule pretty much every year. That's necessitated by their refusal to join a conference. Now that they're a de facto member of the ACC, that could change some. Playing tough schedules plus not having ESS EEE CEEE recruits means I don't see them getting where they used to be in their heyday.

I have to disagree with this, they have plenty access to recruits as they get funneled all the athletes from parochial schools (tons of them in the NE in Ohio, Penn, NJ) and a couple good ones in Florida and Cali. I mean they're hampered by their academic restrictions and they're in the North, but being the parochial super power gives them a huge advantage over say Michigan, who's also in the north, has good demics and doesn't really have a strong recruiting base (Michigan isn't fertile, Ohio is).

This is true. They do have advantages over Michigan as far as recruiting.. It's just that type of athletes that are coming out of Ohio, Penn, and NJ aren't the type that are going to get them there, IMO. There are exceptions, of course, and I don't want to make it seem like I'm more of an SEC homer than I am, but I just don't see Notre Dame repeating what they used to have. Things could change. I never thought the spread would work in the SEC when Meyer came to UF. Now my own team runs the spread quite a bit.

Well, the parochials in Cali and are Florida are no joke, and they definetely do get some really good athletes from across the county, as they have a much stronger national appeal than any BIG team. You also have to realize the Northeast is heavily Catholic, so they're a strong fan base in Philadelphia (especially with PSU's sanctions), Boston, New York, not to mention Chicago. Trust me a strong Notre Dame will have alot of appeal (I'm not looking forward to it myself, I want a very weak Notre Dame for Rutger's sake).

There was a vaild reason why every conference wanted Notre Dame a ton.

So President Obama and President Clinton will be at UCF on Monday to kick off Homecoming week.

While pretty cool, I will be so glad I'll on the other side of town for work since East Orlando will be a warzone of traffic and media basically.

I think the bigger reason that people wanted Notre Dame was because of just how popular they are. They have a built in fanbase anywhere they travel. Their TV ratings are always good. I think almost everyone in this thread can agree that we all want Notre Dame to continue to long for the days of yesteryear and to never attain them. Amen.

Do we consider Texas and Texas Tech legit teams?
For whatever reason I feel like Tech is going to lose two more games, though I don't know to who specifically. KSU and OSU, I guess. Should be favored in all remaining games after this weekend provided KSU doesn't absolutely blow us out, and even if they do we may still be favored in all the rest depending on what OSU does against TCU, KSU, and WVU between now and then; we should be favored against UT, KU, and Baylor regardless.

9 win season would be a pretty solid turnaround after last season's 5-7 finish with statistically the worst defense in the country. I won't be surprised with any result in the last 5 games between 3-2 and 5-0.

Yeah, but it had nothing to do with football.

Of course, but Notre Dame easily has more potential then any other team in the North to be scary good just because of their built in fanbase/national appeal, which was the only point I was contesting.

Hey man, I don't know if you've noticed but the G in your avatar is out of proportion. So I got a high res version online and resized it. You can feel free to use it if you want. Link coming soon.

Clinton? Homecoming. Coeds?

We have to figure out how to get into his party.

Yes... and if that fails, Jim Gaffigan will be here for a comedy show and also Snoop D...Lion for a concert. I'm sure Gaffigan doesn't really pull in the ladies that much, so I'm sure one would have a much bigger chance in pulling away a groupie or something. Just given the sheer amount of ladies around.

We have a UCF representative right? Someone put up the Clinton signal. It's kind of like 7-0 for Gata fans, but it involves coeds.

I don't fully know what it means exactly, but based on the times I've seen it used, I think the best response to this is, "Treated."

Or since I'm white, I can just say, "Well played."

USA USA USA

since this is against the flagship UA school, im guessing Maryland is gonna go all out (BC is a UA school)

Get ready for Tech to be wearing Texas Flag uniforms against UT next week. I believe they're getting revealed on Monday. UA is already selling a bunch of Texas Pride apparel with the Double T over a State of Texas outline.

::edit::
Blargh, double post.

Anyone think Cincy are a chance in today's game?

Louisville has won four games against teams with losing records by one score or less, including a 7-point victory over 1-7 FIU and a 4-point victory over 0-7 Southern Miss.

So I would say that pretty much any team they play has a legitimate shot at them.

It is kinda hard to judge anything by the Southern Miss game, though. That game was in the worst rain storm I've ever seen a football game played in.
