My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Season 3 |OT| The fun has been TRIPLED!

2 homemade quarter pound hamburgers.
Cheese, bacon, and grilled onions cooked between the patties, not on top.
Barbecue sauce
No veggies
Beer

Watching a cartoon about pink and purple extra-miniature horses.

Hell yeah motherfucker.

Hell yeah.

I liked this opener. Songs were kind of meh (most MLP songs have been better), and I thought Sombra worked as a villain. He wasn't great, but he was hardly there, and he still had great presence. He's got more potential for eventual exploration in the future. A gradual buildup to a great character can be better than one who's great from the start. This does of course assume that they bring him back and do good things with him.

I think I liked the Nightmare Moon two-parter more than most people did, and I thought the Discord episodes were a little uneven. So this opener didn't really feel "lacking" to me. But the Royal Wedding knocked it out of the park. I thought this one didn't measure up to the Royal Wedding, but that's okay.

Why is this guy SO GOOD!

The drawing style, the character interactions, the humour.
The best thing of all, it just feels right, even his 10 year beyond comic fanfic works on the same series level, as it could possibly happen and I wouldnt mind, very little fanfic stories make me think like that.

I finally went and saw the episodes, I thought they were good. I was glad to see that Spike has his own stained glass window now. (They are so quick in making those)

Celestia's making use of child labor to get them farmed out super fast.
Has the CMC convinced they'll get stained glass artisan cutie marks.

So very easy to exploit...

OK, I've had a day to mull over the episode and here's what I thought.

The episode was pretty good as far as two parters go but I thought The Return of Harmony and A Canterlot Wedding were better. Like other people have said King Sombra just isn't intimidating or interesting. The rest of the characters however were in top form with the exception of Rarity. I find it odd how Meghan McCarthy can write Rarity so well when she's the focus (Sweet and Elite) but in episodes like this or Lesson Zero her negative traits are horribly exaggerated. Overall I give ot a 7/10.

Now I have a few theories concerning this and upcoming episodes. It's been speculated that Sombra was responsible for turning Luna into Nightmare Moon but I have another theory. Twilight was throwing around some dark magic in this episode and I think the use of the dark magic is what ultimately corrupted Luna. The magic appears to be based on hatred and fear, she feared being ignored and hated her sister from getting all the attention. I think we will see Twilight start utilizing this magic more and more throughout the season and eventually be corrupted possibly becoming an underling of a revived King Sombra.

Regarding Trixie's appearance in Magic Duel, I don't believe she is actually returning for revenge. I believe she was sent by Celestia who gave her the amulet seen in the leaked image which no doubt amplifies her powers to test Twilight.

Finally the upcoming Scootaloo episode. I can't believe it took me this long to realize this but since Scootaloo will be having nightmares that means she must be sleeping somewhere and that means we will probably see her parents if not at the very least where she lives. Just how season 1 focused on Applebloom and season 2 focused on Sweetie Belle I think this will end up being Scootaloo's season. It's just a pity it's so short as she's the least developed character on the show.

What are you talking about? Rarity was great this episode. If any of them was off, it was Rainbow Dash.

I don't see how any of them were too off character. Even Rainbow Dash. She was brash, but not over the line. The whole thing with Fluttershy and Jousting is just the continuing saga of Dash trying to get Fluttershy out of her comfort zone.

Funny how that's exactly what people speculated about Discord too.

What is it with people trying to woobify Luna? There was no outside influence that turned her into Nightmare Moon. She isn't some perfect little princess that someone else corrupted. That kind of thinking just undermines her as a character.

She's always been easily distracted by shiny things to the point of losing track of her priorities? Once she stopped going crystal this and crystal that she was fine, but her behavior in the first part got on my nerves.

This is the Rarity I like

OH GOD A MUSIC NUMBER

I MISSED THIS CARTOON SO MUCH

EDIT: Okay seriously Shining Armour's profile still looks awful weird. It's like his far eye is bulging because of eye cancer or something.

Sunshine! Sunshine! Ladybugs Awake. Clap your hooves and do a little shake! hnnnnnnnnnnnnnngh

Rainbow Dash being a total idiot, as usual.

omg the sheep are tote adorbs i want a toy of them

aww Fluttershy ;_; your mane is gorgeous btw

HOLY SHIT CRYSTAL PONIES

Final Review: Spike, you handsome son of a bitch. Rarity should be boning you. This episode also confirmed my suspicions that BrocureGAF should totally be over this show.

I really hate the song towards the end of the second part though. Felt like it was shoe-horned.

And yeah I still don't get Shining Armor. Does he have those "feet fluffs" Big Mac have? He doesn't strike me as the "carpet pony" type.

That is how Rarity has always been like.

no explanation why Celestia wish for Twilight to be the one to deliver the heart? other than just adding extra pressure to Twilight. in the end, she's okay with whoever deliver the heart as long as it got the job done.

and Twilight is great in this episode, very nice magic showpiece from her, and nice to see some dark magic in here.

"Sorry, can't catch Spike falling to his death, gotta keep on bull- I mean, teaching Fluttershy to be bolder!"

Celestia is training Twilight to be the next Equestria superhero to handle every single problem after Celestia steps down from her reign of terror.

The original singing of the song at the beginning of part one also felt shoe-horned, so it only makes sense the reprise wouldn't fare much better.

"Their History" or whatever it's called was a lot better.

And yeah I still don't get Shining Armor. Does he have those "feet fluffs" Big Mac have? He doesn't strike me as the "carpet pony" type.
As far as I can tell, yeah, Shining Armor's hooves are exposed/hairy like Big Mac's are.

I've kind of wondered if Celestia/Luna's hooves are fancy shoes or fancy hoof-fluff, too, although not particularly seriously. Leaning toward fancy shoe.

If you guys are talking about oft characters, I'm still missing Season one's Pinkie. While she was extremely zany as she continues to be, she was also in tune with the world but didn't know how to communicate with it. She is mostly a gag piece these days, for better or worse.

"Sorry, can't catch Spike falling to his death, gotta keep on bull- I mean, teaching Fluttershy to be bolder!"

Rainbow Dash has saved falling Spike before. SA just launched the cadance missile before she could get going.

And it wasn't bullying. Look at Fluttershy when Dash says she'll go easier on her. She was trying to lay a guilt trip on Dash, but Dash has shown before that it won't work. Dash wants to make her BPFF a better pony.

Ok just finished watching, while I liked it, after the season 2 final it felt less epic I guess, since the bad guy really didn't do anything other then promise a beating, still it was a good episode, lots of funny things going on and it was nice to see them bring in some more lore to the world and the mane 6 are still hilarious can't wait for eps 2 :D

I always consider those hairy hooves a sign of manliness/burliness, and Shining Armor ain't.

So is this show actually popular with its target demographic, or is it surviving solely because of bronies at this point

It is actually popular with its target demographic, and good enough for adults to enjoy watching it as well.

The Internet then, as it does with all things, takes it and does whatever the Internet does with things.
