Oh, I don't know how it was in the US, but we Trekkies (and nerds in general) used to be considered not only borderline sociopaths, but also you know, girly. Reading and science were not macho enough activities back in the day. To see the same crap pattern repeated again with the bronies is truthly something. Imbecility and disdain for out of the norm people is common to every generation, I guess.
