The same exact thing can be attributed to Star Wars and Star Trek fanbases. And yet there seems to be a lot less hate there. I'm not going to defend every aspect of the fanbase, they can forget that this thing is meant for the kids first and foremost and they should at times probably stand aside for them, but its sad that it has lead to hatred of the entire fanbase.

Well yeah, that's been the obvious for a while now. And every excuse I've seen trying to justify their love for it makes it even more pathetic. Like "It teaches us about friendship", "The animation is amazing!"(When it's generic flash), "The writing is fantastic!!"(Generic little girl show writing especially considering other shows that air on CN), etc.

These guys will look back on this with extreme embarrassment when they finally adapt to real life.

Nope. Gaming is mainstream now fella. Everybody plays something. It's a major business, its own media, and every household has at least one source of videogames that they use for gaming.

My Little Pony is a franchise aimed at little girls that doesn't do anything to be different from other franchises aimed at little girls, and unlike gaming or gamers there aren't many examples of people who like it that aren't weird, awkward socially or fall under the term "loser".

I think GAF user Novid put it best in his rants when he said that people like MLP because of a shortage of good animation currently.

The issue is that animation is viewed as being for kids (in the US), and there's not any actual ones for adults (good ones, not talking about Family Guy) out there, leading to adults who want animation having to go to ones for children and becoming pedophiles.

can I be real? I fuck with MLP to a degree. My cousins watch it, they bring it to my place when I babysit...and it's not horrible. That being said, I can't for the life of me understand why a grown man would become obsessed with it. It can be funny, sweet, sad, etc but come on. Watching MLP for the "friendship" and "life lessons" is not like reading Playboy for the "articles."
