Do you mean because of their tweets solely or because of this tumblr? I don't think anyone would be violent towards them, and the only e-justice would be to have fewer people express themselves like that or have such sentiments.

So is a version of this site back up? Feeling good about the retribution. Hopefully more racists lose their jobs so non racists get hired in their place instead.

You know what's guaranteed to *not* get you beat down? Not going online and talking as if there's no possible way your words could lead to an ass-whippin' They put the shit out there-in public. If their inflammatory speech has physical repercussions then maybe it will teach them to use a bit more discretion in the future.

I'm in complete favor of this. These people all put themselves in this situation. How is it any different than a celebrity being hounded for a particular quote and for that quote to be thrown all over the news. This is no different. People voiced their opinions and a site is holding them accountable for it. That is all.

I believe the problem with racism in Russia is the general acceptance of it, especially among the police and the judiciary system. This has resulted int Russia being one of the worst racist countries in the world with racist death squads (sometimes) roaming some cities. The police and judiciary system has not prioritized this type of crime either (due to corruption and ignorance of the problem?)
Maybe they should spend less resources on persecuting the political opposition (and getting handouts) and focus more on fighting real crime?

im not saying he doesnt deserve being fired nor that he had it coming for saying whatever he said, but what happens in that kind of meeting? they call you into the office and say "we think you're a racist, so we're firing you"?
i dont know if its exactly legal to get fired for saying racist things, so would he be able to potentially file a wrongful termination suit or something like that if that is specifically what they say as the reason? guess it depends on the state.

You don't need a reason to fire someone. It's their right as an employer to decide.
Something as simple as "your ideology conflicts with the example this company is trying to set" would be more than enough
it this puts doubt into how the employee interacts with and treats other coworkers, customers, clients and other partner companies, yes.

In your country firing someone for wanting to be in a union is not wrong. Why should firing someone for being a racist be wrong?
It is 100 percent legal to fire someone for making racist statements in public, afaik, which is what he was actually fired for. It has the possibility of tarnishing the company's image, ad unless the employee is working in a environment where everyone is okay with casual racism, it causes problems with other employees.
Making stupid, racist comments on the internet does not prevent you from being called out. The sooner they learn, the better. Some of these teenagers are probably making non-white teenager's lives miserable.

Exactly. These people chose to share these views with the world, and this site is helping them do just that.
Not exposing these racist comments and threats to kill the president under would be detrimental. The more of these racists who lose their jobs, scholarships, etc. the better. And if the ones who made violent threats end up in jail, that would be good, too.
You're arguing that the potential threat of violence from anonymous strangers should be a barometer for what is and is not acceptable speech. Try telling that to Gabriel Giffords or Dutch cartoonists.

I am guessing its because any sane person on the planet knows:
a: People can and DO change their points of view.
b: Kids often say things that are reflective of the kids they are hanging out with or reflective of their parents.
c: As kids grow into adults they actually find out what makes them tick instead of what others think make them tick.
I could go on and on. I don't agree with what they said but I think a fairly safe rule in any forum be it Internet or IRL that calling out kids and displaying their names, addresses etc... Is NOT a good idea. Especially for such a hot topic.
The person that started this tumblr better hope there is no violence against any of these kids or he/she will be sued into oblivion.

Depends on the state. Some places you absolutely do need to have a legit reason to fire somebody.
I imagine 'blatant racism' is a pretty legit reason, though.

I say better they feel the negative social feedback today, so they can reflect and possibly change, rather than possibly get worse, or ever try to make good on some of these threats and angry thoughts.
These people are "real racists" they are calling the president nigger, coon, monkey and they are threatening his life or hoping that he is killed because of the color of his skin.
These aren't simply jokes and shouldn't be treated as such.

Employees are representatives for the businesses they work for, and whatever they say in public* reflects upon that business. There is nothing forcing business owners to keep known racists on their staff, it is well within their rights to fire these people or have them publicly apologize in order to maintain the good name of their business.

It's ridiculous seeing so many posters in this thread try to defend these comments as "stupid people saying stupid things/will grow out of it", when many of these people are posting death threats towards the president. Forget being publicly shamed, I'm hoping the FBI, CIA, Secret Service, etc... investigates and/or arrest every last individual who made a death threat towards Obama on that site regardless of their age.

Twitter is the real-life equivalent of going to a mall with a megaphone. No shit you're gonna get consequences if you go to a mall and yell "OBAMA IS A NIGGER COON WHO SHOULD BE ASSASSINATED", so I have no idea what makes people think these people posting these things publicly on Twitter shouldn't ever be called on.
Try to play it as "vigilante justice" or whatever, it's not going to change that fact.

I have no problem with this. People have to learn that we have a responsibility on the internet to conduct ourselves how we would actually act in the real world when you are using your real name.
