Wii U back in stock at GameStop

Nah he's full of shit. The fact is that it's not Black Friday yet. Good luck finding one of these next month. If I'm wrong I'll eat my hat. My delicious strawberry hat.

I hope your hat is made out of candy - I don't think we'll see hugely reduced availability in the coming months before Christmas.

B-b-ut I thought the wii u was a bomb and A failure! Nintendo is obviously lying about store shipments to keep people from realizing that its only still on shelves because no one wants it! Just Look at the ram for godsakes

Proclamations such as this are best reserved for after increased demand is actually noticeable ...

There's only one month before Xmas. I'll be proven wrong or right within 3 days. Mark this thread. We'll either celebrate me or pelt me with bags of shit.

Do we have any information on supply? Because it seems manufacturing these components should be very high yield.

5.5m scheduled for the quarter. japan is supposed to have a very limited launch, so they might be pushing it harder in europe and north america and hope stuff like monster hunter and dqx make the wii u automatic for the people there.

slowclap

And for folks on the fence, once you come to grips with all the things the Wii U will never be, and will never get right, it's a really competent console for what it's trying to be. At the very least, get it for Nintendo's own games. Nintendoland isn't going to win awards, but it spotlights what Nintendo's goal with the console is. NSMBU is fun, but oddly uses very little of what makes the Wii U special. Regardless, no matter what game or app you're using the console feels "alive" since you're constantly connected to everybody regardless of what they're playing. That's an interesting phenomenon that hasn't been a part of console gaming before.

Not...really.

Wouldn't it make more sense to prioritize the JPN market what with the exchange rate these days?

Oh, and which quarter?

5.5 scheduled for the fiscal year. This quarter and next quarter.

And that's ok. Less room for graphics means more room for fun.

Ahaha! Good one.

I drove out of my way to pick up mine last night...now these come back in stock and they are STILL in stock and could have just been shipped to me with no hassle. It is strange that they are still in stock. Maybe like NewEgg where they took too many orders and then cancelled many people days later, this will happen again? Some places would come in stock and sell back out in a minute, like Target or Sam's Club. Though they might only had a unit or two. Surprised they are staying up there this long on GS's website.

I have one though (can't open until Xmas) so I guess I don't need to worry anymore. Glad to see stock exists and is not TOO hard to get, and that ebay prices tanked almost immediately. Love that.

No, really you are. Anyone playing on a Wii U connected to the Internet is connected to the Miiverse. At all times. Merely hit the Home button to instantly pause the game and start conversing with the world.

So like Skype? Or Steam messaging? Or Xbox Live?
What's the secret sauce, the presentation?

With that RAM, not very...

But did you actually want one?

the allocation they sent to stores (in my area at least) were just enough to cover reserves (with the stores with larger pre-order numbers getting about 10% extra). But any units not picked up by preorders Tues were supposed to be allocated to Wait list customers. Also, GS was the 1st retailer to stop pre-orders after a day or so. They would rather sell 60% of their allocation from Nintendo to walk ups this weekend opposed to having inventory sit waiting for pre-order customers to pick them up at their leisure. The shitty layaway program they are running works on the same principle. The item is not set aside, just guaranteed to be there by 12/21 for pick up. Yes, that's shifty, no employees don't like doing it but we don't really have a choice. I put a customer's layaway aside only to have another manager put it back in general inventory. Wii U is selling and most people (in my area) are happy with it. in-spite of some of the "issues" that plague every new hardware launch.

It's more like a forum--you don't need to know people in advance to be connected. Boot up your console, see a bunch of people you've never met and have immediate access to what they're saying about games on the system. Have a thought about a game you're playing, share it with the world in a few steps, get responses from strangers.

It's like a never-ending Wii U-centric Twitter feed with bonus pictures and screenshots. I would be really surprised if something similar doesn't make its way onto the next Xbox and Playstation systems.

I've been too busy playing my Wii U to keep up on all the negative word of mouth. Why is it negative? Simply because it's not "next gen" material like we all knew it wasn't? It's a fucking blast to play.

What is it that makes the Wii U a fucking blast to play? What does it do that's more fun then last gen consoles like PS3 and 360?

also there is no other console to bring people in stores this holiday. Having Wii U's does that (this year) Vita's sure as hell won't and PS3 & 360 are not really priced to move yet and most sales of those sales have been replacements or secondary units.

The interactivity between the game pad and the television.
The connectivity between everyone in MiiVerse and inside some of the games themselves.

And most importantly, i can take the game pad to the shitter with me and still play NSMBU without missing a beat or having to hit the pause button. Can you do that with Halo 4??? I THINK NOT!

Yep, this is actually true. Spent my first chunk of time with Miiverse today and I feel like Nintendo really (and surprisingly) nailed online in a really unique and interesting way.

Super happy with my Wii U... it's just plain fun.
