i know this is kinda OT but I thought "the new ipad"(ipad 3) WAS the ipad with retina display
How so? It is doubtful that they undership on purpose.waiting in line to spend your hard-earned cash is complete fucking bullshit and insulting to the consumer
is it really that surprising? people are looking for deals this week, a fully priced wii u isn't all that appealing with that mindset
It's gonna the same with Orbis/Durango. Consoles just aren't as exciting anymore to the mainstream thanks to tablets, smartphones and what not.
I don't think so man. All it takes is the next COD to be there and that alone will push a insane amount of units
Not if you can buy the same thing on your PS3/360. Call of Duty isn't a console seller, and the Wii U is proof positive of that.

Initial demand appears high. GameStop, the video game retailer, opened 3,000 stores at midnight on Thursday for Black Friday sales, and before long almost all its Wii Us were sold out, according to Tony Bartel, GameStops president. I think people are starving for innovation, and Wii U is giving them that innovation," Mr. Bartel says.
I wonder how long people will keep reselling the WiiU. A deluxe model selling for $400 means that the seller is barely breaking even, or maybe even losing money depending on sales tax. If it sells for $400, it is about $35 in Ebay fees and about $12 in Paypal fees. Then they got a $3 profit, or $15 if they find a free way to recieve the money without having to pay any fees.8GB unit just went for retail on ebay
Deluxe just went for $400
Guessing it won't be long until deluxes are going for close to retail.
Supply= no demand
No supply = Faking demand.
But yeah, not a compelling system, no marketing, etc.
Right. I really doubt the next CoD is going to be a PS4/720 exclusive. 3rd parties will milk PS360 for a while longer.
Ofcourse the next one won't, it will be out next year and be a cross gen game just like BF4 is rumoured to be. Where the 2014 version ends up will be more telling.
No marketing? Lol ok
I've seen constant ads on major prime time shows on network TV. Also major store displays
What else can Nintendo do? Door to door sales?

You might be the only person to have suggested marketing for the Wii U is good
Didn't stop them from dropping Game Boy...
This was in an article linked in another thread I just read.

Good news. I've been noticing that the reports of seeing unsold Wii u's on store shelves have come from stores that aren't gamestop like best buy and target. Seems interesting to me. But in my experience, The Wii U has been gone from almost every toys r us Ive come across in NYC which isn't surprising since the Wii U Is often featured in their holiday "Why shop anywhere else for toys? Why?" Commercials

2 Gamestops in my area had them today. TRU and Best Buy did not.
Well their initial CoD will likely be an up port, so probably not.
I understand unexpected factors can play a role, but...How so? It is doubtful that they undership on purpose.
Idk, don't you remember how long the bros stayed on the OG Xbox playing Halo 2? Plus bros are poor.I don't think so man. All it takes is the next COD to be there and that alone will push a insane amount of units

I think he means a true next-gen version of CoD, not a port.
There is so much wrong with this statement. COD didn't come out on the same day as they other systems. Wii U/Nintendo released next to nothing about their online gaming service before the system launched and next to nobody associates online shooters with Nintendo.
There's still money to be made
I can buy at 275 and sell at 315 whereas with state sales tax it'd be 320 here. $40 profit per flipped Wii U
And I dont have to worry about online sales tax dodgers getting it at $299 on the dot, as it's usually only offered in store only most places.

What a pain in the ass for $40 bucks.
Couldn't this availability be due to Nintendo flooding the supply lines with stock? I know in the UK the initial supply is being sent out for launch day but a second batch is being sent out 5th December. That's pretty Damn fast compared to the Wii stock issues.

Yes, it's possible. They've been vocal about how they'd have much more stock than the Wii debacle.
Probable? Who knows. We'll see at NPD. I think it's clear they sold through the initial shipment. Doesn't look like the second one did.
Wow pretty bad in my area. Pretty much all the stores have Wii Us in stock.

And even if it were the biggest console launch ever, that's still taken in a vacuum (since the biggest still isn't very big). The 360 is going to be the best selling console this holiday season. We all know the Wii U worldwide numbers through March 2013. They don't have the inventory to sell 2 million in December like 360 is going to.
Which means there may be decent supply, but it's not endless. Which means why is there such soft demand on ebay? It can only be because there's soft demand everywhere. Whether it's because it's a machine without an audience, horrible product awareness on the part of Nintendo, a combo, whatever. It's kind of besides the point.
If Nintendo doesn't release a PR statement within the next week crowing about something, I think it's best for people to brace for disappointing NPD numbers when they're released in January.
