College Football Week 13 - Rivalry Week!

We have to get voters comfortable with the idea of being more flexible in adjusting their polls on a week-to-week basis.

Isn't the playoff determined by a selection committee? I'm sure they'll still use the polls, but they won't be the be-all end-all.

Nonsensical SEC Championship game? What, pray tell, makes the SEC Championship Game nonsensical?
Georgia played Auburn and Ole Miss from the west. South Carolina played LSU and Arkansas. Florida played LSU and TAMU. Now, I'm not saying that if Georgia had played LSU they would be a 2 loss team instead of SCAR, but if SCAR had Georgia's west division schedule, they'd be only a 1 loss team, and at the very lweast you would have a three way tie with UF, UGA, and SCAR. And then UF would most likely go through. So, the champiinship game is nonsensical because it is highly dependent on your cross divisional schedule, and UGA won the lottery by missing all three of the good west teams, while UF drew 2, and SCAR drew 1.

I have no problem with no polls until the last week of the season.
Then you lose what little transparency there is. I don't care anymore one way or the other about preseason polls. Keep them or get rid of them. But they're not the problem.

Hell, why not just have a 14-team playoff and put all the SEC teams in it automatically? You could structure it a bit differently, maybe divide them up into two groups where every team plays every other team in their group and a few from the other group, and then the top team in each group play each other for the championship. Maybe intersperse a few exhibition games against I-AA teams and a few bye weeks.

And since all SEC all the time might get a little boring, after the championship game, they could have some kind of exhibition game against the best of the non-SEC teams.

This sounds silly, the SEC would never go for it.

Pac 12/Big XII can fight it out in the NIT?

Wait, isn't Notre Dame doing this with Charlie Weis' players?

Charlie could recruit with the best of them, but he sucked at player development. It doesn't matter who recruited the player if they don't live up to their ranking. There are a lot of underclassmen starters on Notre Dame's roster. Te'o and Eiffert are the standouts, but most of the guys starting were actually recruited by Kelly.

I figured as much. Kelly's COTY no doubt.

i still don't understand how florida can be so damn inconsistent. some games they look like complete ass(ul lafayette, georgia), but i guess it is okay to play so bad offensively if your defense is that good. i just wish our offense hadn't turned the ball over so many times today. our defense stepped up after each turnover, but they were just put in one too many shitty situations.

oh well, at least we beat miami. we can just win again in gainesville next year

Mark Cuban was supposed to implement a playoff containing many of the teams who weren't in the BCS top 2. I wish he followed through on that. The winner of a playoff containing Ohio State, Oregon, K-State, Stanford, Florida State, Florida, Georgia*, and LSU might be more impressive than the winner of Alabama* and Notre Dame.

*assuming Bama beats Georgia

I'm hoping we can nab John L Smith or Chizik. Might have to wait until after their bowl games, though.

You can even say you hired a NFL coach in your press release.

If the ND PR machine can coax Teo to a Heisman then cigars all around. He's not even the best defensive player on his own team. Best player in the country is Lee, but their awful season will kill his chances

Not really feeling the Bama-Georgia game. I'm thinking Georgia takes it somewhat comfortably.

If so, they better beat the shit out of ND.

"I don't know how it feels to lose to Clemson," he said. "I'm not going to know how it feels either, because we are not going to lose to them as long as I am here"

(So. One more year then)

I wouldn't go that far, but I do think Murray is going to shred the secondary like A & M. Thankfully, Murray lacks Manziel's running ability, so I think the D gives up yards but limits points, similar to the LSU game. The outcome will depend upon how the O does against Georgia's D.
