Colorado's AD has to go as well.

His future resides solely on who his 3rd hire for FB will be. Bohn survived this solely because of the Bzdelik/Boyle hires to resurrect the nonexistent BB program. If 'his choice' doesn't pan out, I'd say he's gone by '15.

Meh, that's two teams out of over 100 who would play 3 extra games. They could always get rid of one exhibition game and one conference game if they actually cared about players' health
but they won't because money.

They'll be sure to keep the CCGs too.

I never trusted the guy after I found out he was raised in Boulder then defected to Lawrence for college.

What the hell is going on here and why does it almost look like another school has co-opted Throwing the Bones? If in a rather derpy fashion.

Don't forget how well we recovered from the first half of nearly every game we played.

I have no idea, it's Zona after going up 6-0 last week. My favorite is the dude out front in the polo and khaki shorts.

@KyleTucker_CJ: Per a source inside UK athletics, Butch Jones, Sonny Dykes and Mark Stoops have all said "no thanks" to Kentucky.

Sounds like a job for the weasel!

that's some harsh news to be sure.

OU officials have engaged in talks to possibly be switched to the Sugar Bowl, should the Sooners win the Big 12 championship outright and land the Fiesta Bowl host berth that goes with the conference title.

Call it desert fatigue.

The Sooners have played bowl games in Greater Phoenix four of the previous six seasons: 2006, 2007 and 2010 in the Fiesta Bowl, and 2011 in the Insight Bowl.

The only way the Sooners can earn the Fiesta Bowl automatic berth is by beating TCU on Saturday, coupled with a Kansas State loss to Texas.

If that scenario occurs, “probably a trade to the Sugar Bowl,” said an OU source.

Big 12 spokesman Bob Burda said he had heard those “rumblings” too.

“As you know, there is a provision within the BCS that once the selections are made, you can trade matchups,” Burda said.

A similar switch was proposed in 2007, when the Sooners won the Big 12 title and were headed to the Fiesta Bowl for the second straight season. Kansas, 11-1 and highly ranked, was an at-large pick of the Orange Bowl.

But Kentucky is an up-and-coming program!

The guy who runs our Scout site posted this in his reaction post to the weekend.

I know some of you will roll your eyes, be pissed off, and vehemently disagree, but this is the last year of a total rebuild. Sometimes you have to take a step back to move forward. This definitely was a step back. next year will be a veteran team. When was the last time that happened at UW?

You lose Drew Shaefer and replace him with Eric Kohler ( if healthy ) . Not really a drop off. You lose cody Bruns, but James Johnson is coming back. Amosa wasn't really a factor and the coaches love Wooching. That's all you really lose on offense, everybody returns plus guys like Tanigawa and Callier. We'll see on Cooper.
On Defense you lose Tokolahi, Glenn, and Trufant. Banks will need to step up as will one of the young guys. Excited to see what Travelle Dixon can do and right now, he's probably the guy to replace Trufant. If not, Ducre is there. Finally, some depth. If freshman play, it will be because they're good enough, not because they have to. That hasn't happened here for a long time.

He's right, but I'll have to see it before I can really buy in again. Sounds like Vegas Bowl vs. Boise is about 80% locked up, but we'll see.

And running headlong into Florida.

Yep. Not gonna be pretty either way.

What did he do now?

Waste a scholarship spot for a handful of practices. Left for "personal reasons" but his family is from Miami, and transfers to Washington. I mean, sure, he might not have been starting material, but it's that we don't know and we could have used that CB spot this year (if he'd be a better option than Fulton and Belue.)

It's not the same situation as Sims (though we're getting by without a go-to backup QB all year long *knock on wood*). He left for Playing Time and Personal reasons (family sickness), and transferred near home. Not to a place as far away from home as possible.

Didn't we know this months ago, though? What triggered the hate today?

Sounds like USM is going to retain their coach Ellis Johnson who managed to take a 12-2 team to 0-12. They must have some crappy leadership or donors unwilling to step up for any potential buyout. Sucks as that is a program I respect.

so after this weekend, what generally happens in the next month before he big bowl games next year?

do teams still play friendly matches to stay match fit?

What, why would anyone do that? Surely you can see that it's far preferable for everyone to take a month off, lose their edge, put on some weight, and only then decide who the best team is?

They study hard for their finals, of course.

ah, forgot that they were college students!

So basically, its only a three month season? It only seems like yesterday that they started the season.

Serious question, does it hurt the body that much to play American Football? The top club players play rugby all year round (about 30 matches plus internationals).

It doesnt really make sense to me, have they ever toyed with the idea of starting the season earlier to get the championship game in before christmas?

Big game Bob scared of a superior opponent what else is new.

A lot of this is the Fiesta Bowl. OU has been there so many times that the fans aren't traveling. Were at the Insight Bowl last year too

oh btw if Manziel wins the Heisman Mack will have recruited the last two winners as DBs

Was Maurice Clarett there?

Was he? Manziel had QB offers from legit schools like Oregon, so I don't really see why Texas would even try to do that. I thought they just straight up passed on manziel for Ash. Although I do think Manziel would probably be a longhorn if Texas was still ran their zone read offense.

The two ESPN analysts have Iowa State playing Minnesota in the Heart of Dallas Bowl (lol). Even though, I shouldn't, we could use the transitive property to see that ISU should win. ISU beat Iowa, who beat Minnesota.

I wish Cal had a shot at Nebraska in a bowl. We'd totally win.

Cal beat UCLA, who beat Nebraska.

In fact, we could go further--Nebraska beat Northwestern beat Vandy beat Tennessee beat NC State beat FSU.

Cal wins the ACC.

This wouldn't really upset me
Guessing Mora would be at the top of the list to replace him and can't see him turning the job down a second time.
It's the time of year when coaching rumors run rampant.

And one tonight focuses on UW coach Steve Sarkisian, as CoachingSearch.com says it has a source that "multiple people close'' to Sarkisian believe that he is "definitely in the mix'' to fill the vacancy at Arkansas.

There have been countless rumors connecting Sarkisian to Arkansas, but this is the first report that has as much as an anonymous source saying there could be something to it.

Arkansas is looking to replace John L. Smith, who was the interim coach this year after Bobby Petrino was fired in the spring .

Sarkisian's contract includes a clause that if he were to leave before Feb. 1, 2013, he would owe UW $2.5 million. He is completing the second year of a contract that runs through the 2015 season (he got a new contract after the 2010 season replacing his original deal and giving him five years).

Sarkisian just completed his fourth regular season at UW and is 26-24 with the Huskies. UW will play in a still-to-be-determined bowl game, as well.

Yeah, Johnny Football and Mariota were both Oregon commits before he decommitted a few weeks before signing day. Crazy part is Marquise Lee almost went to Oregon but the already large class (including two 4* WRs that have both since transferred) nixed the Ducks.

Also, fuck these Kelly to the NFL rumors.

Yeah, but it's mostly just people bashing Mack. Mack thought he'd make a good safety, and you could make a case that is where any legit NFL aspirations would lie

Get used to them. They only went away with Pete when he finally went back to the NFL.

Also Will Muschamp has some words for Nick Saban: "Wanna trade spots you big baby?"

Yes. I played in high school. And very briefly on the practice squad in college.

In high school, obviously the athletically gifted will be heads above the other players. You can avoid hits or not have to work as hard to bring down your average high school player.

When you get to college, you have narrowed that pool down to the best athletes from high school. And for upperclassmen, people who have been through rigorous training and sometimes significant weight/speed gain.

You figure, about 1 hour a day for 5 days of full contact drills. With people who are big, strong and fast. It wears on you alot.

Or, it could be, I was a scout team scrub.

:(

Maybe Dennis Dixon gets a shot?

He'll have to make it off whichever practice squad he's on first.

Even if Kelly does go to the NFL, I think Helfrich is in a good position to take over, if that is indeed the succession plan. Might end up depending on if and how severely we get hit by sanctions in the offseason, though.

He'd be like Pete without the Natty :(

Shameless somewhat in the limelight post here. I'm at NIU, and it's pretty exciting. Everybody wants Kent to win, and even if we do win we'll need a miracle to go any further, but it's still fun times nonetheless.
