I'd love to hear one or two of the guys pull for The Witcher 2 Extended Edition. It probably wouldn't get far and may be disqualified for GOTY and only be considered for 2012's 2011 GOTY. It was my number 2 game last year and when I really think about what I played this year, it's my number 1.

I think I look forward to what theme they'll do, a lot more than the actual results for the end of year awards.

That FMV theme was so fucking magical. They set the bar pretty high for themselves. It's going to be hard to beat.

I think they need to do the final discussion of the 2/3 remaining games the next day. They all were pretty tired by the end of that pocast that they didn't want to fight over them anymore. Get some rest, gather ammunition and kill each other tomorrow.

Nah, I think that's a true sign of how you feel about a game. If they had REALLY TRULY CARED, they would have sacked up and made an impassioned case for their game like Brad did despite how worn out they were. Brad showed up that day brimming with passion, I can't say the same for the rest of them.

Did any of them even play it?

There's a fine line between being impassioned and hitting your head against a brick wall.

I still have no idea why I enjoyed Saint's Row 2 far more than Saint's Row 3. Maybe it's because the genius of SR2 was for me utterly unexpected, whereas SR3 pretty much bled purple swag from every orifice (unless it was strapped on)

At least a side benefit of this year having so few games is that they may actually be able to have discussions on them. Past years have been frustrating whenever one tried to make a case for or against a game that obviously only he played.

There were lots of great handheld games. They'll probably still run into probl-

Oh. Wait.

Giant Bomb.

It seems like most of them so far have played most notable non-handheld games, so at least that should be fun (for a given value of fun)

Probably because Saint's Row 2 is way better than 3.

GB hates Mondays, but loves The Walking Dead
Huh, is it that good? I feel like I have too much on my plate at the moment, but I'd consider playing it if it isn't that long.

Grrr... too many games to play. >_<
(Most of which are indeed on handhelds or imports...)

I thought he would've been further along by now. :(

Patrick a month from now: I beat VLR in one sitting. Wasn't much there.
Then I'd cry.

Wasn't it so FUN to GRIND side missions in order to play the main game?

So, so FUN.
Yeah. Agreed.

Saints Row 3 was a hell of a lot more fun to play.

The way Saints Row 2 forced you to play a mountain of side missions to progress was awful and tedious. I really loved the stupid story in that game and the amazing character I had created (Moss from The IT Crowd), but it just got too receptive for me to bare.

Saints Row 3 I tore through in about 2 or 3 days. Just wish they would have had the character creator from SR2, or let you import your character. That's probably asking a lot.

YES. We need a second wave of Witcher 2 love. Let's do this, Patrick and Vinny.

I can't wait for that, too!
Part of me hopes that Vinny doesn't nearly kill himself like he did last time, but I would love to see them go for something really fun to frame the end of this stuff with.

I think at this point Drew is skilled enough to make that easier on him, hopefully.

999's big problem in that area was that the endings were positioned as... well, endings. They're more like stops along the way. When 999 says True Ending, it's not fucking around.

The Walking Dead really is worth the early GOTY talk. As long as you are opposed to playing an interactive story without much traditional gameplay, it's definitely worth playing. It's a unique experience at the very least.

Hey, I wouldn't blame him. I felt the same way until I looked at a guide and realised that was only about half of the game.

I felt the same as you until I looked farther down the guide and realized that I would have to play through that first half of the game several more times.

Aw, keep playing, Scoops. Wonder which one he got?

Thanks. I'll look into it, then. Everyone's been saying how good it is, so I should try to give it a shot.

Vinny being the only one who played The Witcher 2 last year almost made me cry.

Scoops posted on twitter about looking for spoiler-free FAQ ending guides, so at least he knows what to do! Hopefully he doesn't straight up cut for true end :/

Oh I fully suspect that people who have played the game to try and tell him how to play the game "properly". And then they will get mad because he isn't playing it right.

Isn't there a spoiler-free flowchart on Gamefaqs? That's what I used after getting 2 bad ends.

This is certainly going to be an interesting GotY season. Walking Dead is probably a lock for cinematic story lovers like Alex Nevario, and novelty lovers like Patrick and Ryan, but it'll be a wildcard for the experience lovers like Vinney and big budget grandeur lovers like Brad, and it should be absolutely hated by the gameplay lovers like Jeff.

I expect strong feelings both ways. In the end I'd think Xcom would be a better fit all around with only the story lovers and the big budget lovers left behind.

In anycase it'll be an interesting GotY season, with every single big budget game seemingly being bad enough to disqualify it from most serious GotY discussions after Assassins Creed 3, Mass Effect 3, and Diablo 3 all falling flat on their faces. Who would have thought that the biggest fighters were going to be Walking Dead and Xcom.

Not to dismiss Journey and Borderlands 2 entirely of course, but I don't get as strong of a feeling from the critics for that game across the board.

As long as the one bad ending he got was the
ax
ending, he's probably good. The other endings have thier good points, but aren't exactly worth all that extra effort to get.
Ax
ending on the other hand is an experience I'll never forget.

Vinny will stab the Xcom initiative in the back by going for Sleeping Dogs, while Brad will pull for a downloadable. Xcom is done.

You guys are crazy. Obviously it's gonna be Xcom vs. The Walking Dead in which Xcom will win, cause Jeff hates zombies.

Ideally everyone played both so It'll be an interesting discussion to say the least.

Maybe not to the very end, but crazily enough I kind of think Fez might have a shot at getting pretty far in the deliberations, I remember everyone being really invested and interested once the cryptic meta-game came into play.

While The Walking Dead will be discussed in the Best Story category and perhaps in the GotY category, I do not think it will win the latter. I believe the duel will be between XCOM and Journey. Jeff is most certainly siding with XCOM, so is Ryan. Brad will fight for Journey, as well as Patrick (maybe). I don't know where Vinny stands.

I believe XCOM will win Giant Bomb's GotY.
