The Driver isn't an 80s character. He's just in a movie with an 80s aesthetic. Completely different.
True I suppose. I see what you're saying now

So what's worse unidimensional badassery like Quaritch or nameless villains like Avengers?

Loki is nameless?
Loki is nameless?
For the non-comic book fans, ya he was. Pretty piss poor villain in Thor and Avengers.
Worthington isn't great by any stretch of the imagination. But he's decent. He does his job well enough. He is by no means a 'bad' actor. He can't pull off an accent worth a damn and people immediately equate that with bad acting.
What's hilarious is that he gave a better performance than Bale in that shitty Terminator movie.
So any villain is piss poor then unless you have read about them?
Loki was fine and I haven't read the comics.
He did, I'll give him that. Bale mailed that in. Still, that was leagues better than Terminator 3. I enjoyed it.
No you don't have to read about them. I don't read the comics and knew he was, but that doesn't mean he wasn't a poor, forgettable villain.
T3 was awful and yet was still leagues better than Salvation. Salvation didn't even make sense as a standalone movie, let alone a sequel of any sort. Really terrible.

Damn, I'm surprised you didn't like it that much.
You're a funny one, Tyler.

I am mixed on Terminator 3. There is a lot wrong with the movie, but I loved the fact that they had the balls to end it the way they did. It is a shame that Arnold was lackluster in it and the villain was ten shades of lame.
I do remember the evil colonel dude being the only part of the film I didn't like. Truly a lame antagonist.
And it was basically just a bad parody of T2.
Which part? The entire movie? I will agree with that. But I did like the fact that the entire mission was just to get. But Kristanna Loken was about as intimidating or threatening as an olive fork.Connor into the bunker before the rest of humanity was wiped out. Was not what I was expecting.

I fucking loved Quaritch. I'm so tired of these generic action villains that have some artificial semblance of "depth" because the director threw in an extra scene of exposition. Fuck that, Quaritch had presence and that alone was great.
I don't know what I'm more confused about
Why a thread that's 3 years old is still being posted in, or that this movie got an 82%.
Unless that's a typo and they meant 28, but even that's probably a little high.
lol.
Sculli, will you make a second thread when this is over, or will you let it die?
93% top critics rating!I don't know what I'm more confused about

Will just make an Avatar 2/3 Preproduction news/hype thread ala the SW Ep 7 one that is going on now.

Sculli, I hold in my hand this Blu-ray edition:

This is not the extended, correct? What's the difference?
And it was basically just a bad parody of T2.
John Connor: Do you even remember me? Sarah Connor? Blowing up Cyberdyne? Hasta la vista, baby? Ring any bells?
Terminator: That was a different T-101.
John Connor: What, do you guys come off an assembly line or something?
Terminator: Exactly.
John Connor: Oh man, I'm gonna have to teach you everything all over again.
It really was. I find T3 a lot more offensive that Salvation. Salvations just pure shitty, with an interesting visual here or there but pretty much non-offensive. T3 on the other hand has such classic exchanges as:
My brain melted during that movie.
TALK TO THE HAND
No, that is not the extended edition.
Extended edition has the extended cut of the film (20 minutes longer), about an hours worth of even more deleted scenes that don't appear in any cut of the film (some of which are absolutely brilliant and are painfully absent due to how much money they would have cost to complete) and about five to six hours of making of featurettes.
The Extended Edition is actually $20 at amazon atm. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0044XV3QY/?tag=neogaf0e-20
