The Giant Bomb Quick Look Thread 2

Fifa load times... man.
FIFA load times are not longer than 10-15 seconds (or like 3 seconds on PC), but you have to press a button, so they simply waited - or played the practice game, rather - for a while instead of advancing to the match/go back to the menu; they could've done so whenever they wanted.

Given that you can actually play the game while it's loading a match and the loading times are fairly short so you don't have to if you don't want to, it's probably one of the best solutions in gaming right now.

Fifa load times... man.

So you haven't played a FIFA game since 08? Played the WiiU demo and the loading times before or after a match were 10s max. It's just a free roam arena that can be accessed from the main menu and starts during the actual load times before a match.

Jeff shouldn't do soccer games anymore. His lack of enthusiasm is embarrassing.

Let's try to predict each guy's GOTY:

Jeff: I have no idea, he seemed to dislike almost everything.
Vinny: Sleeping Dogs
Brad: Diablo 3
Patrick: FEZ
Ryan: The Walking Dead
Alex: The Walking Dead

I think the Fifa games will still sell okay if Jeff isn't enthusiastic about them.

I think predicting their top ten would be more interesting.

Betting that more than half of Brad's top ten are xbla titles.

Jeff and Vinny doing QLs for sports they know nothing about is great because they can have some fun while being enthusiastically ignorant about what's happening on the screen. Jeff being a bored ol' grump during the FIFA one made this one of the weakest by far. :(

I think that you're mistaking sarcasm with enthusiasm.

I actually thought the match Vinny and Jeff played in the FIFA quick look was pretty exciting. Came down to the wire, until Vinny scored the golden goal.

Holy shit, Drew and Patrick have no sense of direction. Watching them get lost literally seconds after checking the map was frustrating.

Is there anything more to Miasmata than fleeing the monster and examining flowers?

Something tells me Drew probably knew when I was going off track, and just bit his tongue. :P

You should play it. It's amazing how easily you get lost, it's so easy to do and I consider myself really good with directional awareness.

It's orienteering based. The map doesn't actually show where you are until you can pin where you are based on established landmarks, which seems to be the most interesting aspect of the game.

Wandering around woods where everything looks the same is very confusing when you don't have a videogame GPS.

It looks way easier than it actually is to maintain spatial awareness until you try it in real life (or a game like Miasmata), at which point your brain's compass being off just a little bit can send you out in the middle of nowhere, or around in a circle, with no idea of where you are or how the hell you got so far away.

Thank god Drew knows how to read contour lines on a map. I still can't believe you missed the giant mountain to your left when you were trying to determine how far north you'd traveled.

It didn't seem like Patrick ever took elevation changes into account, or used the lakes configuration as a guide even though everything is so well defined on the map. It was just frustrating to see him soley rely on the landmarks when there was other information available to him.

Holy cow, I never realized that little guy was a sumo either. I mean, I never actually played it myself, but I watched the QL before and never realized.

Sounds like the most boring thing imaginable if that Quick Look is anything to go by. It looks like an interesting game to play, but watch? Yeesh.

I like hearing Drew's camping stories and Tricky's fear of the monster and interest with the locations make it interesting. Besides, I wanna know where the story goes. Yeesh

It's also a game that has plenty of room for them to talk over it.

Pushmo
Crashmo
Sumo

It all makes sense now.

Clearly its Tropico 4 for all of them. There was that bobblehead in the I Love Mondays video and that means they've been Swag-incepted, they're subconsciously on the take, and if they deny this that just shows how on the take they are that they can't even see what this Tropico 4 bobble head is doing to them

I'll give it to NoA that Pushmo and Crashmo are better names for those games, but it is fucking dumb that they call each puzzle a Crashmo. Especially since the mo is from sumo.
Mallo is the Pushmo/Crashmo and they should call the actual puzzles Pullblox and Fallblox like they do in the European version, since they call the creator of the puzzles Papa Blox in both versions.
