I couldn't read the story on the BBC because that picture of the kids being lead out was just too much.
The unforgivable thing is we will have this dickheads picture plastered over our TV's for days, countless talking heads & "special reports" whilst it's milked by the media, then absolutely no political or policy change. The movie theatre incident before & now this? Makes me sick to my bones. I cannot comprehend how nothing will be done to mitigate this happening yet again.

Holy fucking shit

I just woke up and this is the first thing I read on GAF? This is a goddamn tragedy. Definitely one of the worst mass shootings we've seen in a while.

A heart crushing event that makes my chest feel like its imploding. Bring that fucker back to life so we can flay the flesh from his bones for a hundred years.

Why? If they're alive we know it isn't them.

Because some asshole might end up trying to hurt their friends and family as some stupid ass form of revenge. And its slander, straight up.

The police exist for the exact reason of investigating things.

I'm not a journalist, but I did go to school for it, and I'm preeeeeeeetty sure that interviewing small children involved in a tragedy like this is a no-no.

But then, I did skip Journalism Ethics class 90% of the time, maybe they did too?

As a father I can't imagine the horror of this.
I went to J-school, too. Depends on the organization, but it is allowed as long as you have Guardian's consent.

My question to America..How bad do things have to get before you start putting restriction on gun use? how many people have to die? How many mass shooting have to occur?

There are gun laws. It doesnt matter if they add 1,00 more gun laws. Criminals will always get weapons. Criminals don't obey the law.

It's fucking cheap.

I just heard about this. So sad to see this sort of thing still happening. Whoever ends up responsible should be shot in the fucking court room.

Seems selfish. They have somehow contributed something.

Well said.

Also, I really dont get it: Why do people need to own guns? Not trying to take sides, I just dont understand, what are some reasons by Gaffers? Outside of hunting (and even then, those weapons are regulated, no?)

Muh freedoms!

They need to develop some sort of system that allows guns to be stored at gun clubs for shooting practice, and in the idiotic event that there ever needs to be a militia to topple the government.

Aside from these centers (run by the NRA with some amount of state oversight at least) guns should just be outlawed, period. You can't hunt? Cry me a fucking river. It's a weapon of death and murder, find something better to do with your time. I'm sick of seeing innocent people murdered because people need to kill helpless animals with ballistic weapons.

Not sure what's so "lol" about that.

when in a conversation about why bullet proof vests would be on sale to your average American, what relevance or grounding in reality does the suggestion that "high profile" people wear them have? and who are these "high profile" people? Let alone mentioning the 3rd world. Context is the key, and the context of the question was with regard to your average citizenry, not heads of state being moved to secure locations.

Times like this really makes me wonder how there possibly could be a God.

How could it let such atrocities happen.

If were talking about how much lives were lost, this does not even come close to what happened in WW2 or other wars.

Now questioning a Psychologists about the effect on the children.

Fuck off.
Parents have a hard time being parents as it is. If interviewing a psychologist helps give parents some advice on how to talk to their kids about this, it is a good thing.

It wasn't until my junior year in high school (about 2003) that the school required the doors to be locked on the outside, and in order to get in you needed to be buzzed in or have someone open it from the inside. before, anyone could just walk up to the front door and walk right in

I can't believe that... then again culture differences. Down here in Southern Ontario, every school I have ever been at or visited for a school event has always been unlocked...most homes here also (even at night or when people are away)

You know something is wrong when you have to literally lock down a school like that.

Edit: GOD DAMNIT MEDIA! DO NOT IDENTIFY THE KILLER. YOU'RE ONLY ENCOURAGING IT!

This angers me on many levels

This woman has possibly just found out her child has been murdered and some cretins first thought is to snap a picture of her and splash it on the Internet

Have some fucking decorum

Calm down. It's news and poignantly captures the trauma. It's awful but reporting the news is their job.

Why do civilians even need fucking guns?
To defend yourselves? From what? Why aren't your law enforcement capable of doing that?
It makes no sense to me at all.

I got one because two dudes with weapons tried to break into my home and I flashed them my gun to show what i got and they heard the clip going into the gun. You think that calling the police will do anything? It will, but they take 15-25 minutes to arrive. That window feels like forever, especially in terms with the situation
So yeah, civilians do need to carry guns to protect themselves from shitbags.

@ All the Ryan Lanza's out there, time to delete your profiles. Mass internet detectives are out to get you.

It also bothers me when they find Psychologist/Psychiatrists who have absolutely no connection to the suspect or situation come on and spout off random psychobabble.
