A hobby where you can kill people accidentally? Do we need that?

Sounds like you need to move on from that "hobby".
Like alcohol? Oh wait, outlawing that worked REALLY well.

Yea and other countries don't play video games or watch movies either. But please, enlighten us on how superior Japanese tentacle rape porn is to the US culture as a whole.
EVERYONE is fucked up. Quit trying to act like the US is the ONLY fucked up country.
So why do you hunt then? Go buy your food from the supermarket where someone else killed it.
Outlawing hunting would fuck up the eco system.
Boy, I sure hope you never meet anyone that drives as a hobby.
Not the same thing. Alcohol isn't created to kill or hunt. It cannot directly be used as a tool to kill others.Like alcohol? Oh wait, outlawing that worked REALLY well.

All these interest groups pointing fingers. To me it's just that the US has a violent culture. All facets of our entertainment have large amounts of violence, and we are at war constantly.
He blamed video games, movies and music videos for exposing children to a violent culture day in and day out. "In a race to the bottom, many conglomerates compete with one another to shock, violate, and offend every standard of civilized society, by bringing an even more toxic mix of reckless behavior and criminal cruelty right into our homes," LaPierre said.
Did you really just shit all over their family tradition of a father son hunting trip? I think my kids knowing where their food comes from and is one of the most important things they have ever learned.
Yes, they need to make assault weapons illegal, and no I don't think for one second that will keep gang members and psychopaths from getting them. It may drive up the price and keep some idiot kid from falling into one, which is a good enough reason. But I don't think it will make them any less scarce than making drugs illegal did.
Either way, dragging games into this is just stupid.

Its interesting that there are so many misconceptions and straight up fear mongering when it comes to 'assault weapons.'
There is nothing different mechanically between an 'assault weapon' and a hunting rifle. They fire the same rounds, at the same velocity, at the same speed. The only difference is cosmetic features like barrel length. (And please don't bring up magazine size, its a truly foolish argument for two main reasons. Even an inexperienced shooter can reload in less than a second, and significantly larger clips are also available for hunting rifles).
I think the most interesting part is that 'assault weapons' account for less than 1% of all violent crime according to the FBI. This is an absolute joke in my opinion. The most dangerous weapons in America? The .22 and 9mm pistols account for the vast majority of violent crime. Why even ban 'assault weapons' then if they account for a negligible amount of crime?
To be honest I don't own any guns, but I've always taken an interest in politics and I like to do research on various issues. I did hours of research yesterday and I'm having trouble even forming a argument for banning 'assault weapons' other than those conceived in fear, fallacy, or ignorance.

Not the same thing. Weapons are created to kill, regardless if they are use to hunt animals or people, cars are made as a transportation device.
People always want to blame something else.Back in the 50's they blamed Rock and Roll.

It's not about morals, it's about being an evolved human being. You may as well carry a club around and bop other people on the head while grunting if you feel the need to hunt for your food in the year 2013. Do you ride a horse to work too because it's better for the environment?

Solve gun problems with more guns!
"The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun," said Wayne LaPierre.
That's what Hitler said. Do us all a favor and keep your definitions of "normal" and "evolved human beings" to yourself, m'kay?
Like alcohol? Oh wait, outlawing that worked REALLY well.
Charlton Heston is getting crazier by the year.
Yeah, because North America was an ecological disaster zone before Europeans showed up with their guns.Outlawing hunting would fuck up the eco system.
Hunting seasons keep animal populations in check...just look it up yourself. Deer are extremely dangerous for drivers and of course this risk would only go up if they were not being hunted.
How many die each year because of drunk drivers? How many are injured each year because of drunk drivers? How many are injured each year because of alcohol related fights? How many spouses are injured each year because of alcoholic partners? How many lives are ruined each year because of alcoholism?
Yea, great hobby.
Moderation, regulation and responsibility are key in EVERYTHING.
So Europeans invented hunting?Yeah, because North America was an ecological disaster zone before Europeans showed up with their guns.
I like how you compare me to Hitler in defense of people who shoot animals and other people (accidentally or otherwise).

The only thing that stops bad drunk drivers is good drunk drivers.
