Wii U Satisfaction Thread

I'm very happy with the console. I love Nintendo Land and NSMBU, and having a great time with Sonic Racing Transformed. And then there's Nano Assault Neo and Trine 2.

Played it at a relative's house. I was impressed. Playing NEW SMB U on the gamepad was pretty awesome. I didn't even look at the tv, it felt like a portable Nintendo tablet.

Now I'm tempted to get one ASAP. When Rayman Legends comes out, I'm getting one.

I'm loving it so far. The miiverse and off screen play is awesome. Console gaming while watching football! Im just hoping it gets the multi platform console exclusives like MGS. I can buy everything else on PC. I have my hands full with PC, wiiU, 3DS, and vita. I'd be set if my PS3 didnt croak. Now If only I didn't have to work....

As cool as off-screen is, whenever I play that way, I feel guilty, like it's the not the real way I'm supposed to be playing....because that's what my 3DS is for. It's stupid. I'll get past it.

Man, I do wish this thread didn't even have to exist. It feels so reactionary. But enough about the thread itself. I'm one of the many out there who is extremely satisfied with his Wii U. There are certainly problems (man are there problems), but overall the experience has been wonderful. So wonderful in fact that I haven't touched my 360 once in the last month (but that's partly due to the desire to play my shiny new console rather than my old one. I'll definitely be picking up some stuff for it in after new years).

I guess I should note that I am one of the few who has had ZERO problems with hardlocks, etc., after day 1. I don't even find the OS or download times all that unbearable. I'm not sure how I'd be feeling if I had had to send it in for repairs or was constantly plagued with hard locks and bugs but I'd probably considerably less satisfied.

I love it. Nintendo's best console since the SNES. The controller is amazing, the Miiverse is surprisingly cool, it still does all the Wii stuff, it's great for local multi, and I've enjoyed everything I've played on it so far.

Plus, I've finally got a system that has Mario, Batman and Ninja Gaiden on it again. That's how you do a proper-ass console, my friends.

Same, I haven't really touched the PS3 since I got (it'll get some Metal Gear love for sure though).

Also, it will be tough to go back to a system without remote play now. I spend like half my gaming time on the U this way, it's fantastic. Curling up on the couch or in bed with a full console in my hands with a proper Nintendo controller is amazing. Being able to sneak a level or two of Mario in when I'm working from home and at my desk between cases is genius.

I finally brought my Wii U. I already had play in my friend house and I know what expect from this console.

In my friend's house I played New Super Mario and like it a lot (I don't buy NSMB2, but I will buy NSMBU), the only thing I don't like is the control that I can't shutdown the screen, since its useless in this game.

After that i play Zumbi U and can confirm how the control is obligatory for this game. The next game was Trine 2. Play using the screen is so fucking good. In the middle of the game I notice I prefer play this game only looking for the control's screen. The last game he want to show me is the demo of Rayman Legends. This demo is really beaty and fun. Play this game without the gamepad will not be the same thing, so maybe that's why ubi choose to maintain it exclusive.

My friend want to finish your playtime here, so I convince him to show me Nintendoland, game he says he don't like. We play Zelda, Pikmin, ario chase and Metroid. now my friend hate me, because I made him like nintendoland. hehehe

Right now my Wii U is updating.

Wii U is fun. Nintendo just needs to announce more serious games a la Bayonetta 2.

I've played Nintendo Land with several people and they've all had a great time. I've liked Mario U single player. Rayman Legends looks more suited for co-op. I love the demo.

I've played less with the Wii U than the Ps3 (I got the horrible slide model), and my satisfaction is easily 5 times more on the Wii U, with only 4 the games.

Enjoying the Wii U quite a bit. It gets use every day as my wife enjoys drawing pics on Miiverse and I like reading posts on Miiverse as well. I have been able to pretty much finish Darksiders 2, played a ton of Black Ops 2 multiplayer, and I'm working on Batman now. Had a few crashes so it's not perfect, but I'm totally diggin' the system right now. It's a bummer that some people aren't, but such is the way of life, I suppose.

Not going to gloat how satisfied I'm with the wiiu, but I'll just say that the off-screen feature comes into play dozens of times a day here. The chances of any future console with me greatly depend on the presence of that one feature.

Got a WiiU from my wife for christmas. Enjoying it just fine so far. Nintendoland is surprisingly fun, Mario is Mario, and ZombiiU is one of the better survival horror games I've ever played.

Yea the off tv play is this systems "killer app" it just works so well and the screen is alot better looking than i thought.I find myself playing on the tablet more than my monitor.

Really enjoying my Wii U so far. Nintendoland surprisingly taking up most of my time. The Animal Crossing game is amazing, and the Pikmin game has me absolutely craving Pikmin 3.

I've found it really hard to go back to either:

A) Traditional consoles - gaming off screen is heaven, standard pads feel off....i cant quite sum it up in words

B) PC/Netbook - Yes, all my web browsing is now done on the gamepad. If i could download my US tv shows or use Excel on this i'd never use my netbook again.

The latter is the reason why I have so much usage time on my Wii U. Out of the 71 hours i've clocked up, 31 of those are on the exceptionl browser. I have 5 gameson the go at the mo and they'll keep me busy until at least feb.

I'm partial to Metroid Blast. So much fun...has me craving a third-person Metroid.

I've never played a Pikmin game, but I don't feel like the Pikmin attraction is probably indicative of an actual Pikmin game.

Yeah, Miiverse is definitely way better than expected. I'm mostly surprised at the quality of the eShop games thus far, though. It doesn't seem to be stopping soon either, with Runner 2, Toki Tori 2, etc. coming soon.

It may not have a lot of system sellers announced yet, but there are enough niche games to keep any gamer busy for quite a while.

I have NSMBU, Nintendo Land, ZombiU, and BLOP2 with Nano Assault Neo downloaded.

I'm pretty happy with the system. I love off-screen play, and miiverse is great. The OS has some issues, but if Nintendo continues to update it and work with it, I think it'll come into fruition within 9-16 months and be fine. They really just need to make communication with friends easier and speed it up, then I'm fine.

This is without a doubt the most pathetic and desperate out cry of a fan boy thread.

We havn't seen a satisfaction thread for ps3 or 360 which have tones of awesome games Wii U will NEVER SEE in its life cycle.

I didn't want a Wii U as I barely touched my Gamecube or Wii in the last decade. I was raised on the NES/SNES/N64 though, so I am inclined to enjoy good nintendo games. Anyway, I played a demo unit at target on Dec 24th. On Dec 26th I owned a Wii U.

It's only been 5 days but so far Im very impressed. NSMBU is amazing, my favorite mario game since M64. ZombiU is dope. Trine 2 is a great port. Nano Assault Neo, Little Inferno and Mighty Switch Force are all very fun. NintendoLand is way, way, way better than I envisioned it being in single player (as a 35 year old with no kids yet, SP or online MP is all I play).

Great system. Amazing controller. Awesome social network. I love this thing.

I think that maybe you take the internet a bit too seriously. This is a videogame forum and this is a thread where people are talking about enjoying a videogame system they enjoy. It's not anymore "pathetic" or "desperate" than any other thread on this board.

people who would post here are busy on miiverse

k bye

Miiverse is a neat feature but it's not content rich. It just mildly supplements the main experience, which is the game. And right now ALL those things you mentioned that you enjoy on your Wii U are great but NONE of them are games. ZombiU was great fun but since the first week I've not touched my system and have subsequently gone back to my PS3 and classic systems. I do play five player Mario U and Luigi's Ghost Mansion when I visit my friend's family but that's it. At least with my GCN I had six awesome exclusive games to play in the first two weeks- LM, Rogue Squadron, Monkey Ball, Wave Race: BS, Smash Melee and Pikmin. At least with the Wii I had two meaty games to dig into for weeks- Twilight Princess and Excite truck, which augmented the party favorite Wii Sports. So no, I'm not satisfied but as a person who doesn't sell their systems I'll hold onto it for the Nintendo exclusives. But they really shot themselves in the foot with this one.

I'm still overwhelmed, positively by mario and nintendoland, just those two games make me 4/5 hours of play with some miiverse since last week. So when I see people with five games or more I'm a bit surprised. So I skipped on the trine 2 sale cause I wasn't convinced by all the footage I've seen and didn't plan to take rayman demo but actually discovering the system, everything goes more naturally and so it was there... but it was exactly what I felt looking at footage, can't say I liked it, it plays a bit tighter than the previous game but for now the levels to use those improvements are not there.

Played my U all day yesterday. Played my U all day today. Will play my U all day tomorrow. This controller is genius, and Mario is the only thing I can get my girlfriend to touch (she thinks games are a waste of time but every single night asks me to play NSMBU, it's weirding me out).

Sorry PS3, I promise we'll hook up again when The Last of Us & Puppeteer come out.

I like the width of the gamepad. It feels more ergonomic than the standard controllers.

Standard controllers have your hands in a somewhat praying position, close together. The Wii U gamepad has you in a more open book, small tablet reading, bicep curl machine. The small grips that sit on your palm should be bigger though.

Would have been nice redo the face buttons. Y/X just slightly right of the left analog stick and B/A just left of the right analog stick. Or move the start and select buttons there.

I do dislike the 360 trigger style buttons. I have to lift up my fingers off of the triggers to use the bumpers. Even worse than a 360 controller. I'd prefer moving the bumpers to the bottom where your middle fingers would rest when you hold the pad. Almost like the vita back touch pad. So maybe the triggers are the problem but the bumper placement.

Gamepad build quality is quite crappy. clicking noises when shaken, speaker will sometimes make a crackling/poping noise when at full volume.

Like that they used a 3.5 audio jack. Makes me think that MS made the 360 controller jack a 2.5 one so you would be inclined to use their own headsets over your own headsets laying around. Most people won't go out and get an adapter, they will just buy an official headset. I like that I can use my apple headphones or plug in my astro a40's directly without the mixamp. But I'm still having a hard time finding the best way for me. I like to mute myself, can't do that with my own headsets. I can with my third party xbox 360 headset but its a 2.5 jack, I can with my a40's but its cans so I can't hear the tv clearly, I can with my logitech f450's but they are 2.5 jack as well to cater to 360, I can with my sony bluetooth headset but the wiiu doesn't support bluetooth.

The proper solution is to just kill open mic, or make it an in game option. I'd much rather have push to talk for online games. Just a personal beef.

Using the gamepad screen is a dream though. At first it was just zombiu, but even with call of duty, using the screen during gameplay and to switch classes is smooth. In another thread the screen is just being called a gimmick but it does not feel that way, feels more like natural progression.

The TVii stuff hasn't dazzled me yet. I have a PS3 with media usage, a nexus 7, iphone, apple tv with airplay, pc runnning not only hdmi to tv but dlna apps like PlayOn, xbmc etc.. I don't actually use cable tv for anything other than news in the morning before work. I do watch TWD and Community but that's about it. Its a great feature just sort of useless at the moment for me. I'd like to use it in the future more but fragmentation in media is iffy, smartglass, appletv, tablets using websites instead of apps to accompany tv shows, etc.. I'd like to see more standards not more competition.

Just like the vita I'd like to see more apps. I use apps like news360 and google currents instead of going to webpages.

Miiverse. Great, I just wish I could customize it to only show my favorites. I don't care about the mario, zelda, etc games or its miiverse, only show me what I want to see or subscribe to.

Home button. Doesn't work in COD unless your in campaign mode, force this to work at all times. Microsoft makes demands for features, Sony and Nintendo should too.

Games. I'm not a core nintendo gamer. Bought COD because there are no other online games for me. ZombiU is freaking awesome. Needs more original adult/mature/non-core nintendo games to keep me interested.

I hope Nintendo fleshes out a more uniform or standardized feature set/requirement for games. It can be difficult to discern just what features your games will even use until you delve into them. Loving it all in all.

This is without a doubt the most pathetic and desperate out cry of a fan boy thread.

We havn't seen a satisfaction thread for ps3 or 360 which have tones of awesome games Wii U will NEVER SEE in its life cycle.

NeoGAF is full of "list the awesome games on these consoles!" threads every other week, along with regular threads battling over the pros and cons of stuff like Xbox Live, XBLA, PSN, etc.

If this thread has any particularly special meaning to it, I would venture it was indeed slightly encouraged by the sheer amount of Nintendo obsession and Nintendo dumping-on* that's been going on around GAF for the last two months or so. In other words, an organic response and you should have expected it.

*Expected, since we're at the dawn of Console War VIII when everybody starts fixating on which game companies are heroes and which companies are the devil incarnate. Sony and MS will get their turn soon enough.

I think being able to control my TV with it is really neat. I like playing games off-TV. I REALLY like the Luigi's Mansion Nintendoland game in multi-player.

Overall though, I'm disappointed. £350 to play a Luigi's Mansion mini game. :\

My wife wanted to get a new dining table, but I convinced her we should spend that money on a Wii U instead. It's incredible to think that I regret that decision.

just beat nsmbu story mode 100 percent. Now going to try out Little Inferno and finishing off Nintendo Land. Little Inferno is very... Interesting...

I'm happy with the console so far. (:

I dont get it. lots of people saying gaming off screen is amazing...just get a Vita? Besides Nintendo games, what am i missing exactly?
